Starting point is 00:00:28 Thanks so much for listening, and I hope you have a fantastic day. Good morning, everyone, and welcome to wake me up. The podcast, where morning people are made. As always, I'm Tyler, and I'm your host. This morning routine episode is all about being lighthearted, and the perspective that you can't take life or yourself too seriously. Sometimes you just have to laugh at it all. And it's inspired by my day today.
Starting point is 00:01:06 It started this morning when I read a message from my good friend Klaus, who lives all the way in Germany. He listens to the show and asks for something with a bit of laughter to it. And little did I know that my day would provide the perfect example. I'll tell you more about it in a minute. But first, let's go ahead and get this day started. As usual, we'll take the next few minutes to wake up and slowly get out of bed. And you can just listen to my voice. I'll guide you through all of it.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Go ahead and start by just opening your eyes. Let some of that morning light filter in. And let's take a couple of deep breaths. So inhale, pause at the top, and then exhale slowly. One more. inhale, hold, and exhale. Now you can take a few minutes here just to stretch out in bed, and feel free to do anything that feels good to you.
Starting point is 00:02:33 We just want to get the body moving nice and gently. And while you do that, let me tell you a funny story. Hopefully it'll put a little smile on your face this morning. Today is Father's Day here in the United States, and so I had dinner plans with my parents. I went for a run this afternoon before going to meet them, and whenever I go for a run, I take my house key off of my keychain, and I tie it into my shorts.
Starting point is 00:03:03 And that way I don't have to carry anything. Well, when I returned from my run, I was a little short on time. So I put my key down, showered, and got ready to go really quickly. I was leaving in a hurry, so I just grabbed my stuff, my phone, my keychain, and I walked out the door. I locked the bottom lock on my door on the way out, but when I turned around to lock the deadbolt, I realized I had only grabbed my car keys, no house key.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I had locked myself out. Now, I rolled with it, I kept it cool, but I had to go meet my parents, so I just decided to deal with it after that. At dinner, I was talking with them about it, And we were discussing all kinds of ways I might break into my own place. Well, the best part is, when I went to leave, I reached in my pocket for my car keys, and I felt another key buried in the bottom of my pocket.
Starting point is 00:04:10 I had my house key all along. I was just in such a rush and not paying attention. I didn't even notice. Now, I consider myself to be a pretty smart guy, someone who's for the most part. got their stuff together. But this just shows you can't take yourself too seriously. We all mess things up, and we are all fools at one time or another. And I think the best thing you can do is just laugh about it.
Starting point is 00:04:44 It keeps you humble, and it makes life just that bit more enjoyable. So hopefully, that gave you a smile or a good laugh at my expense. and that's my gift to you here this morning. We're going to keep that lightheartedness going for the rest of this episode. So what do you say? Let's go ahead and get up. Take a deep breath and slowly roll over in bed. Place your feet on the ground. And when you're ready, press into the ground and stand on up.
