Good morning, everybody, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where morning people are made. I'm Tyler, and I'm so glad to have you here with me this morning. I have some good news for you, my friend. Today is going to be easy. It might even be fun. And it will all begin here with us waking up and starting this day off together. Wherever you are, whether you're joining from bed or you're already up. Take a big breath in. Hold it and then exhale.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Let's do one more. Inhale. Hold it at the top. And then exhale. Just let it all go. Keep taking deep breaths just like that on your own. until you've done five of them. It's vital to get oxygen circulating in your blood.
Starting point is 00:01:28 It's the easiest thing to help wake you up. Now then, in your day today, what is the most likely problem or stressor you'll have? What thing is the most likely to cause a headache? What if it actually turned out to be easy? What if it wasn't a problem after all? What would that look like? How would that come about?
Starting point is 00:02:18 Is there anything you could do to help bring about that better outcome? Is there something in your power that can make all of this easier? Surely, life doesn't go our way every time, but we can think about how to help it go our way more often. And as the day goes on, we may then notice opportunities to improve our odds. I always love to ask myself, how can I make this easier? It's a useful question, I think,
Starting point is 00:03:06 because it forces me to focus on what's really important. And it forces me to prioritize making life more enjoyable. So friends, look for the chance to make things easier today. Now, on that note, it's about time to get out of bed and start this nice, easy day. So let's all take a deep breath in, and as you exhale,
Starting point is 00:03:34 Roll over in bed and make your way to standing up. Now that you're up, let's take a quick stretch. You should only join in this if you're able, and feel free to do something else if you prefer. Now let's start with our hands down by our sides, standing up straight. Take a big inhale and reach your hands all the way up to the sky. Reach as far as you can. And on your exhale, fold forward at the waist.
Starting point is 00:04:23 and just let everything hang towards the ground. Let your arms relax. Let your neck soften. It can be nice to have a little bend in the knee since it is first thing in the morning. All right, now slowly roll back up to standing all the way up. And when you get there,
Starting point is 00:05:01 reach your hands back up to the sky. And now let your right arm fall down to your side and reach with your left hand up and over. So you feel a nice stretch in the left side body. Just reaching towards the top corner of the room. And then on your next exhale, switch. So let your left arm fall back down to the side. And reach your right hand up and over to the side.
Starting point is 00:05:44 So you get that nice stretch on the right side body this time. Make sure you keep breathing while you stretch. Okay, now come back to center and reach both hands back towards the sky, and then let them relax. Roll your shoulders out a couple of times. Now seems like a great time to sit down and have a quick meditation. So find a nice place to sit anywhere in your home. Just don't sit in your bed.
Starting point is 00:06:38 And as always, feel free to grab water or use the bathroom along the way. Today, we're going to keep it simple like we often do on this show. I'll just be giving you some time to let your mind unwind before the day begins. And don't worry if thoughts come up. That's perfectly normal and expected. Just relax,
Starting point is 00:07:04 take a breath, and let those thoughts float on by. They won't stay forever. They never do. So you should be seated by now and make sure that you're sitting upright, nice and supported, but allow yourself to relax down into the seat.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Take a deep breath in and close your eyes as you exhale. For this first moment, make sure you're comfortable. We don't want the body to be a distraction. So let your face soften. Let your jaw drop down. Let your shoulders relax. No need to hold on to any tension right now. And you can breathe at your own pace,
Starting point is 00:08:14 whatever feels right for you. And just follow your breath, that gentle rise and fall, and allow it to take you deeper and deeper. So just continue relaxing here for a moment. Keep taking deep breaths and resting your attention on that breath. Surely a thought will arise at some point, and you can simply say to it,
Starting point is 00:09:23 hello, and then return to your breath. All right. Just keep doing what you're doing. We'll be here for another moment or so. All right. Now let's take a few big breaths together to end this meditation. So inhale, hold it at the top, and exhale. Again, inhale, hold, and exhale.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Inhale, hold, and exhale. Again, inhale, hold it, and exhale. Last one. Inhale, all the way in. Hold and release. Okay, begin to bring yourself back into the room. Notice the chair beneath you and your feet on the floor. You might notice your fingers and toes and maybe give them a little wiggle.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Let's take one more big breath in. And on your exhale, open your eyes slowly. And just take a second to collect yourself. So I hope you're feeling relaxed and clear of mind after that really easy meditation. And I hope this was also an example of how nice it can be to keep things simple and easy. It's time for today's send-off. What if we all looked for the good in everything? What if we assumed that everyone was just doing their best?
Starting point is 00:13:43 Wouldn't that make things easier? Because, well, let's face it, humans are the cause of most of our own problems. The main issues we face in life are usually with other humans. So we can make life easier by being easier on ourselves, by having patience and respect, by assuming the best, not the worst. It doesn't mean you shouldn't work hard
Starting point is 00:14:16 or strive for your goals. It just means that we should all aim to make less friction in the world. Try to impede on others less. In turn, they'll cause less friction on us, and we'll all be better off. So if you want to make life easier on yourself, start by making it easier on everyone else. Well, that's all I've got for today.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I appreciate you tuning in, and joining me here as always. I'll talk to you all next week, and until then, go out and have a fantastic day. And don't forget to take it easy. Thank you so much for listening today. If you're enjoying the show,
Starting point is 00:15:33 I'd greatly appreciate you taking a second to rate it on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. It does wonders to help spread the show. You can find links to do that in the show notes. Thank you so much for your listenership, help, and support.
