Good morning, everyone, and welcome to wake me up.
The podcast, Where Morning People Are Made.
I'm Tyler, I'm your host, and I am so grateful to have you with me this morning.
If you're like me, you go through phases of high energy and great discipline, and other
times where you might fall off a bit.
This morning routine is designed to help you maintain.
that discipline and keep you moving towards your goals.
Let's go ahead and get started.
We all wake up in our own way.
But this morning as you wake up, you can just listen to my voice.
And we'll take the next few minutes to get up.
You can open your eyes and roll onto your back.
Take a deep breath in and just give your body some fresh air, some fresh energy,
and then just let that go.
Now today's episode is all about discipline.
sticking to a set of rules or guidelines, no matter what.
Anytime you want to do anything of worth, some level of discipline is necessary.
But you can't expect to go to your maximum every day over and over, back to back, forever.
You'll burn out.
You just can't sustain that.
So how do we maintain discipline through ups and downs?
Well, as with most things, the key, I think, is perspective.
You can't expect perfection out of yourself.
And nor should you.
It'll only lead to disappointment.
But you can always expect one thing from yourself.
And if you do just this one thing, you will move mountains over the long term.
Now, what is that one thing?
Show up.
Just show up.
Show up and do the best you can that day.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Just show up.
Woody Allen famously said that 80% of life is showing up.
And he couldn't be more spot on.
And today, so far, you've shown up.
You're here.
You're awake.
You're breathing.
living, and starting your day off positively.
Keep that momentum going.
You've already got the inertia.
Show up today and commit to do one thing towards your long-term goals, just one.
Accept yourself in whatever shape and form you're in today.
It may not be your best day.
Not every day will.
Maybe it will be your best day.
I don't know.
But you can't expect your best performance every day.
You can and should expect, though, that you'll show up and try.
If you just show up and try, then your results, over time, will be exponential.
Now, like I said, you've already shown up so far today.
So let's keep that momentum going.
Take a deep breath and roll over in bed.
