Good morning, everybody, and welcome to Wake Me Up.
The podcast, Where Morning People Are Made.
I'm Tyler, and I hope you're doing well this morning.
Today's episode is one that I find a lot of meaning in, and I think you will too.
It's about winning for yourself and helping others to win.
Two things which really are intricately combined.
First off, we always want to make sure that we're taking care of ourselves,
that we're winning at the things we care about.
And second, we want to support others we believe in and care about too.
If we all do these two things, then we'll all do these two things,
then we'll all win so much faster, so much bigger,
and we'll have the joy of doing it all together.
So I hope you join me in this adventure.
It's time for us to take care of number one, ourselves.
So let's jump right in and get this wonderful day started.
If you're in bed, go ahead and open your eyes if you haven't done that already.
And then let's take a big breath together.
So inhale, hold at the top, and then exhale.
Let's do one more big breath together, but this time take a stretch while you do it.
So inhale and reach out from your fingers and toes, and then exhale and relax.
Once again now, inhale and stretch it all out, and then exhale and release.
Wonderful.
So, while you enjoy these few moments of quiet this morning, before the day begins,
I want you to take this time to focus on yourself.
Think on the things you care about.
What is important for you to win at in life?
Maybe it's just one thing.
Or maybe there's multiple.
Your career, certain relationships, or even helping the other.
world to progress. Take this next moment and think on what you can do today to move one step
closer to getting those wins. What's a small step you can take towards the finish line? Even if it's just
sending one email, brainstorming a couple of ideas, or making a list of to-dos, it doesn't have to be
anything major today. Because, as the saying goes, Rome wasn't built to.
a day. I know that it can feel selfish to focus on yourself, but there remains a simple fact at the
core of this idea. And that is, if you don't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anybody else.
The best way we have to make the world better is to make ourselves better. And so I hope you
always take at least a few moments each day just for you.
just to do the things you like,
to think through the accomplishments you've had
and the problems you face.
Because you deserve it.
You deserve to overcome those problems
and accomplish those big wins.
And you certainly deserve to have a great day.
So as we get it started,
let's all choose to do what we can
to make this day fantastic.
And on that note, take a deep breath in,
and as you exhale, roll over in bed,
and make your way to standing up.
Okay, now that you're standing,
let's do a couple more quick stretches.
And remember, you should always be careful with these.
It's early in the morning,
and if you're not able to do one
or you'd prefer to do something else, then please do.
This is your time.
I'm just a voice hoping to guide you a little.
So let's start with our shoulders just by rolling them out a few times in big circles.
Go slowly and try to move all the way around your range of motion.
Once you've gone in one direction a few times, pause, and then go in the other direction.
All right. Now relax your shoulders. Make sure you're standing up straight.
Reach the crown of your head towards the ceiling.
And slowly roll your head from side to side, releasing the muscles in your neck.
Do this very gently. Our necks are very sensitive, especially in the morning.
Okay, now straighten back out. Take a deep breath in.
and reach both arms to the sky, reaching as high as you possibly can.
And then on the exhale, fold forward at the waist, and just let everything hang towards the ground.
Release your neck, let your arms dangle, and maybe keep a little bend in your knee.
All right, now slowly roll back up to standing, and when you get there, roll your shoulders one more time,
Up and down.
All right.
So if you'd like to do more stretches, then be my guest.
Otherwise, we're going to get ready for our meditation.
So go find a comfortable seat anywhere in your home.
It can literally be any seat.
You can sit on the floor, in a chair, on your front porch.
Just don't sit in your bed.
And while you make your way there, feel free to grab water, use the bathroom,
do anything like that along the way.
Today's meditation is based on gratitude.
I love these, and I know you all do too.
And it incorporates some gratitude for ourselves,
as well as some for another person that we admire.
I think you'll find a lot of love and inspiration for yourself
and some love and inspiration to support everyone you care about.
So by now, hopefully,
You found a nice comfortable seat.
And let's take a deep breath in together.
And as you exhale, just slowly close your eyes.
So go ahead and just check in.
Make sure you're settled and you're comfortable.
You want to be seated upright and supported,
but you want to be relaxed too.
So let your face soften.
Let your jaw release.
And let your shoulders.
settle down. You can follow whatever natural pace of breathing you have. The most important
thing is that it feels effortless and smooth. And for this first moment or so, just follow that
breath. Rest your attention there. And allow each one to just take you that bit deeper and deeper.
Okay, now that you're settled in, bring to mind the image.
of yourself, winning at something that's important to you.
It can be anything, big or small.
Just see yourself going through that experience,
doing whatever you'd be doing to accomplish it.
See how the journey of trying to accomplish this win
makes you happy and fulfilled in and of itself.
Recognize that you absolutely can have this win.
have this win.
And you absolutely deserve it too.
Send a little love out to yourself
and some genuine support
for trying to make this win happen in your life.
Now you can let that go
and in its place,
bring to mind the image of someone you care about.
Someone you want to help win in life.
See their face,
smiling back at you.
you. See how they have brought value and meaning to your life and feel that connection.
You share with this person, how your lives are intertwined, and how their wins are in a way
yours too. Send some love and support out to this person in the hopes of helping them to win
and whatever it is they care about. And now you can just bring yourself back to your breath.
and allow your mind to continue unwinding just for another moment or so.
Okay, now slowly bring yourself back to the room, back into your body.
Notice the chair beneath you and your feet on the floor.
Now take a deep breath in and as you exhale, slowly open your eyes.
And just take a quick second to gather yourself.
So I hope you're chock full of positive vibes.
from that little meditation.
It really is a special feeling
when you recognize that your own wins
are the wins of your support system too.
And how the wins of those you support
are also your own.
No matter how you slice it,
we're all here in life together.
And our support of one another
can go a long way.
And most likely,
it will help us to win
for ourselves too.
Now, it's time for today's send-off.
Winning is a fantastic feeling.
Who can deny that?
But nothing is one alone.
Even in the most individual of settings,
like an individual sport such as tennis or golf,
no one is an island.
Nobody does it alone.
A tennis star has coaches and trainers to refine
their skills and stamina.
They have fans that fuel them with enthusiasm.
They have friends and family who support them in both the positive and negative times.
My friends, our own wins are no different.
Everything we do is tied up in a network of others.
Our friends and family who support and encourage us.
Our detractors who put fuel on our fire.
We're all interconnected.
And whether we like it or not, we're all together in this thing called life.
We are completely unable to support each other unless we support our own selves first.
So spend some time today making sure that you win at whatever it is you care about.
Prioritize number one for a little bit today.
You deserve those big wins in life,
so don't let this opportunity slip by to move towards them.
But while you do that,
don't forget to consider the ways that you can help others win too.
Support the people you care about.
Listen to them.
Understand their wants and desires.
Not only will you grow closer to them,
but you'll also find ways.
that you can take part
and helping them to succeed.
And together,
you both will live
more meaningful and fulfilled lives.
So friends,
go seize your day.
Win at life
for yourself.
And while you're at it,
make sure you help others win,
too.
Well, that's all I've got for you today.
Thanks so much for tuning in
and joining me here this morning.
I'll talk to you all soon.
And until then, go out, win for yourself, win for your friends and your family,
and have an absolutely wonderful day.
Thank you so much for listening today.
