Hi everyone, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where Morning People are made. I'm Tyler, your host, and I'm so glad to have you here with me today. In this episode, we'll be getting our day started with a wonderful motivation. bit. Now, let's go ahead and get started. And let's start today with a really big stretch, because this might just be a big day for you, and we want to be prepared for that. Do a stretch that feels good to you, whatever you would like. And if you're joining us from bed, then you can take
Starting point is 00:01:04 that stretch too. And while we do this stretch, take some deep breaths, just inhaling and filling your belly fully, and then letting it back out. And let's do another one, inhale, and then exhale. So if you are still in bed, then take another deep breath in, and this time, as you exhale, roll over, and make your way to standing up. All right, so feel free to keep stretching if you'd like. Or you can go about your morning routine at this point. Have a glass of water, make your morning coffee, go ahead and do your thing. And perhaps while you're going about this morning routine,
Starting point is 00:02:14 thoughts will start to run through your mind. Thoughts about what all you have to do today or the problems you're facing in life. Issues you have to deal with at work this week or even problems in the world that you wish you could solve. And I have to tell you, this is completely normal. It happens to me every morning too. Humans, by nature, are things.
Starting point is 00:02:46 thinkers. We are creators and innovators. For thousands of years, we have stretched our current reality to make a different future. And I suspect that we will continue to do this for the rest of our existence. We see things that can be improved. We feel frustration, anger, and annoyance when things could or should be better than they are. But notice how all of these thoughts about improving our situation are tied up in an interconnected web of memories from the past and projections into the future. You see, we try to predict the future based on what we've learned from the past.
Starting point is 00:03:50 But this ignores our greatest strength, that we have control over the present. This, my friends, is our greatest strength and our greatest opportunity. Instead of trying to predict the future, why not shape it? Why not create the tomorrow that you hope for today? So as we begin this day,
Starting point is 00:04:25 let's remember what we do control. It's not the past, and it's not the future. It's only right now that we have the chance to plant a seed. And through hard work, hope, and a little bit of luck, tomorrow that seed will sprout and grow. So take a moment right now and answer these questions. You can do it in your mind or on a piece of paper. Whatever you prefer, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Here's the first one. What hopes do you have for a better future in your personal life? Next, What hopes do you have for a better future in your professional life? And finally, what hopes do you have for a better future in the world? There's a really great saying, that goes, don't wait to strike until the iron is hot. Make the iron hot by striking it.
Starting point is 00:06:36 And nothing is more true about creating a better future for yourself, for your friends and family, and for the world. The greatest humans don't do things because they are popular or cool. Those things become popular because someone stuck their neck out and did what everyone else was thinking needed to be done. And because of that, those individuals become the humans we remember. Our flaw is that we look back into history from the present, rather than seeing history in the way it unfolded.
Starting point is 00:07:22 We don't read in textbooks about the self-doubts and fears of those great persons of the past. Our documentaries focus on their triumphs, not their moments alone when they felt that all of the odds were stacked against them. Those people remembered by history, they were just like us. They're humans. They had doubts, fears, setbacks, troubles, and critics. So don't listen to those voices that say, you don't know what you're doing,
Starting point is 00:08:04 or you can't make that happen. They may be right to a degree. Chances are, you don't know every step you'll have to take along the path toward change. But what's important is that they're wrong about who you are. You are a person of good moral character. A person who works hard and perseveres. A person who knows we are destined to be better than we are today.
Starting point is 00:08:38 A person who hopes and dreams of a better future. The truth is, you don't need to know what you're doing. And you don't need to know how to reach a future. the finish line. It's impossible for you to have all of the answers from the beginning. If you are to climb a tall
Starting point is 00:09:07 winding staircase, you don't need to be able to see the top from the bottom. The stairs will lead you there. You just need to be able to see the first step. And from the
Starting point is 00:09:24 first step, you'll be able to find the second. Friends, we don't move mountains all at once. We move them stone by stone. Certainly, we also worry that our toils and hard work will be fruitless. And perhaps they may be. I can't answer that from where I stand, and neither can you. But I do know one thing.
Starting point is 00:09:57 You have no chance at bringing about your... dreams if you never try. You must plant and tend the seed if you hope for the tree to bear fruit. You must move the first stone if you hope to move the mountain. And so, my friends, I encourage you. I implore you. Plant that seed today. Find the smallest stone on the mountain. Find the smallest stone on the and start moving it today. Decide to take that first step up the winding staircase of the unknown. From there, you will find the second. Those who shape the future do so because they know deep down
Starting point is 00:10:55 that their intentions are good. Their conviction gives them the audacity, the audacity to step out into an uncharted world. So believe in yourself. And sow the seed of a better future today. The sooner you plant it, the sooner it will bear fruit. Move that first stone on the mountain today. The sooner you do, the sooner you'll change the landscape of the world. My friends, All of this boils down to one very simple message. Tomorrow has no chance of being better unless you start by improving today.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Well, that's all I've got for now, friends. I really appreciate you joining me today and tuning in. And I hope that little bit of motivation has you fired up and excited to make all of your dreams come true. I certainly believe that each and every one of you deserve to live the life of your dreams. Well, I'll talk to you all soon. And until then, I hope you have the most fantastic of days.
Starting point is 00:12:41 I really hope you enjoyed this episode. A good morning is such a gift, isn't it? It's the key to a happier and more productive day and ultimately a better life. And that's why I make this show. So if you're enjoying it, why not send one of your favorite episodes to a friend? You never know. You might just make their day and change their life.
