Hi, everyone, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where morning people are made,
and I'm Tyler, your host. Thanks for tuning in today.
Since we're coming up on the end of the year, I've got a little motivational bit
to help you get excited for the next one.
But it doesn't matter when you're listening to this,
because committing to yourself is one of the most important things that we do in life.
And we really should do it every single day.
For those of you who are playing this episode from bed,
join me in taking a deep breath in,
and as you exhale, roll over, make your way out of bed, and stand up.
You don't need to do anything difficult or exhausting right now.
You can go ahead and use the bathroom or make your morning coffee,
anything like that while you listen along.
We're going to get our minds right for a great day,
so just take that first easy step and get out of bed.
Now, as we look towards the new year,
many of us will be trying to change our habits,
alter our lifestyle, reshape relationships,
or level up our career.
And all of those are fantastic goals.
But so often, our commitment to them fades.
After we experience a setback, we get a bit of negative feedback,
or other things call for our attention.
The outside pressures of our lives,
those pressures that come from external sources,
slowly chip away at our commitment to change and better ourselves.
Before long, it seems inevitable that will stay the same.
So we give in and we give up.
And that's really a number.
because the only thing that is inevitable is change.
The world is not stagnant, and neither are you.
Sometimes it may feel as though you are stuck, but you're not.
Every moment that passes, you've changed a bit more,
either by hardening the habits you already have,
or by encouraging new ones to form.
You see, every moment is an opportunity, and it's a fleeting one.
And in every moment, we have these outside pressures.
They come from all angles, and they try to steal the time needed to effectuate a change within ourselves.
It can be friends and family, it can be an overbearing job, or even a TV show that you like.
Now, none of these outside things is bad on its own.
The issue arises when we fail to prioritize ourselves over these external pressures.
This prevents us from being the friend, the parent, the coworker, or the entrepreneur that we hope to be.
