Hi, and welcome to Wake Me Up, the podcast where morning people are made.
This episode is a motivation mini to help you remember all of the amazing things that you already are.
Now let's go ahead and get started.
It doesn't matter whether you're listening to this episode still in bed, or if you're up and about already.
If you are in bed, go ahead and take some deep breaths just to energize your body.
And maybe bring some gentle movements or stretches just to get some blood flowing.
Today, I want to talk about who we are, each of us, individually as a person right now.
Everyone comes at life with a unique set of experiences and knowledge.
We all have dreams and aspirations.
But who are you really?
Well, let's start from the most basic level.
You are that mass sitting where you are right now in this moment.
Living, breathing, feeling whatever you're feeling, seeing whatever you're seeing.
And you've been doing that thing called living for however many years now.
And you'll do it for however many more years into the future.
But in reality, those things you've done in the past,
and the things you want to do in the future are just projections of your mind in the present moment.
The past is no longer here.
You have a memory of it, but that's just a file tucked away in your brain.
What remains in the file might not even be a complete record of that past moment.
But more importantly, that file is only a record of the past.
You can only experience that past moment here, right now, in the present moment.
in the present, through your brain.
The same is true of the future.
We have all kinds of ideas and expectations for the future.
But these aren't even files created from past events.
These are sort of fake memories we've projected forward into time.
Now I realize that this can play with your thoughts about time a little.
But here's the point to keep in mind.
You, as in that mass of stuff sitting there right now,
living your life in this moment.
You are the same you as you were in all of your past.
You're the same mass of existence.
And you'll continue to be that same mass of existence
as the present moves forward.
Sure, you've changed over time,
but the core of whatever you are remains.
This means all of the great things in life you've already done,
you're still that person.
And that person who did those great things is you, the one sitting here now.
And in that way, you're also already the person who will do all of the great things that you will do in the future.
There's a sense of continuity between all of these things, a thread that attaches them.
But that doesn't mean you can't change.
In fact, it means quite the opposite.
You always have the ability to change.
as long as you focus on the present.
