Hey there, my friend, welcome to Wake Me Up, and to this very special affirmations meditation that's designed to help deal with people-pleasing behavior. This was a listener request,
Starting point is 00:00:42 and I'm so happy to be able to fulfill it. People-pleasing may on its face seem positive, but it's actually filled with issues for everyone involved. You see, people-pleasing behavior usually comes from a place of feeling like you need to conform to others' expectations. and that leads you to harbor hidden resentments. People pleasers may act like the perfect partner or agree to unwanted plans,
Starting point is 00:01:15 ultimately confusing others by not expressing their true feelings. In essence, people pleasers lie, but they don't do it to harm. They actually do it out of a fear of displeasing others. And although this behavior may be rooted in different, things for different people. It very commonly comes from having someone important in your life, like a parent, a sibling, or a partner, whose behavior could be harmful and irrational. The people pleaser, therefore, does whatever they can to keep the situation safe.
Starting point is 00:01:54 The thing is, when safety isn't a concern, we should all feel free to speak our minds, state our desires, and our goals. Because in the end, Your own internal values and desires are equally as important as everyone else's, arguably more important, at least in the context of your own life. I've designed this little affirmations meditation practice to help you deal with people-pleasing behavior. I recommend that you do this in a meditative state by finding a comfortable position and closing your eyes, because that will make this practice more deep, profound, and effective.
Starting point is 00:02:41 But truly, you can do this in any way that you'd like. You can even just simply listen along. Perhaps this is the perfect moment to start doing things in the way you'd like to. Before we begin, let's take one nice, deep breath together, just to clear and calm the mind. So inhale, fill all the way up through your chest and down into your belly, hold at the top, and then exhale, release. Now let's turn to our affirmations. Confident and comfortable with myself, am worthy of honoring my own needs and desires.
Starting point is 00:04:01 I am free to make choices that serve my highest good. I'm allowed to say no without feeling guilty. I deserve respect. I choose to be true to myself. Even if others don't understand, I am valuable, just as I am, comfortable setting healthy boundaries. I am prioritizing my own well-being. I am empowered to stand up for what I believe in. I am embracing my own needs and desires. I am letting go of external expectations.
Starting point is 00:06:39 I am proud to honor my truth. I am enough. I trust and value my own voice. My needs and feelings are just as important as anyone else's. I respect my boundaries and expect others to do the same. I choose to prioritize myself. Only I know what's best for me. The happiness matters.
Starting point is 00:08:46 and I honor it every day. I am free to make choices that feel right for me. I choose authenticity over approval. I am letting go of the fear of disappointing others. My time is valuable. I choose to love myself first. My worth is not determined by others' opinions. I release the need for approval,
Starting point is 00:10:52 embracing my own. authentic self. All right. Well, it's about time to wrap up. So let's take one more deep breath together. Inhaling, collecting all of the positive ideas in these affirmations. Hold at the top. And then exhale, release. Just let all of that air fall back out. And when you're ready, You can open your eyes, gather yourself, and come out of that. Well, my friend, I hope you enjoyed these affirmations and that you're feeling a renewed sense of self-belief,
Starting point is 00:12:11 self-love, and authenticity. Remember, you should always feel free to speak what's on your mind. Your views, your goals, your needs are just as important as everyone else's. It doesn't mean they have to agree with you, but it does mean you shouldn't be afraid to be who you are. Because you're here, just like everybody else. You're just as valuable.
Starting point is 00:12:40 You're just as important. So if you think you're a people-pleaser, I hope you save this episode and come back and repeat it. Or if you know someone who shows this kind of behavior, maybe you can find a loving way to share. it with them. Thanks so much for tuning in. I hope to see you back here soon on Wake Me Up. And until next time, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
