Letting go isn't always easy.
But you do always have the power to release anything that's not serving you.
Sometimes it feels like we're carrying far more than we're ever meant to hold.
So right now in this meditation, we'll take a few moments to set those weights down.
Not by force or by forgetting, but by choosing peace over pressure.
So settle into a comfortable position, seated, lying down, whatever works best for you and your body.
soften into that position, and then take a slow, deep breath in and an even slower exhale.
Gently closing your eyes, if you haven't already.
And just begin by noticing your body.
Where is there tension?
Where are you gripping or bracing?
Maybe without even realizing it.
And just relax those areas when you find them.
soften your face, drop your jaw, and relax your shoulders.
With each breath, soften down just that bit more.
Let gravity hold you and let whatever's beneath you.
Support your body fully because you've been carrying so much
and you don't have to keep holding at all.
So begin to imagine now that you're standing beside a quiet, calm,
River, the air is fresh and crisp and the water is moving steadily and slowly along.
And in your hands, imagine a small stone.
This stone represents something you're ready to release.
Maybe it's a worry, a regret, a habit, a relationship, or a story you've told yourself for too long.
That stone might even be shaped in a way that brings this representation to life.
Feel the weight of that rock in your hands and acknowledge what it's meant to you,
how it may have served you in certain ways previously.
You're ready and willing to let go of it.
And so you gently place it into the river and you watch the flow of the water,
carry it away, not abruptly, but peacefully, slowly and steadily,
forever moving farther away and freeing exactly the way letting go should feel.
And so you take another stone, this one representing something else entirely,
and you just hold it for a moment, acknowledging the ways that it helped you
and the ways that it's hurt you.
And when you're ready to say goodbye
and move on from this,
you place it into the river,
watching it tumble and drift down the river,
out of reach and out of sight,
feeling yourself becoming lighter
and more at ease with every passing moment.
And if there's anything else
that you're ready to release at this point in time,
then feel free to do so.
In the exact same way, we've just done it.
If you've released all you've needed to,
then just rest your attention there, on your breath,
enjoying a moment of feeling less burdened,
less weighed down and more free.
Feel your body growing lighter.
Feel your heart becoming more.
spacious and feel that relief of having let go of something that was never meant to be carried
permanently.
Sealing this release by repeating the following affirmations, I am free to let go.
I am releasing stress and worry.
I am choosing peace.
Wonderful.
Now you can begin to return to the present moment, noticing your body.
resting on the chair or the couch or the floor, wherever you are.
Bringing some gentle movement just to begin waking yourself back up.
And then taking one final deep breath in, your deepest breath yet today.
And as you exhale, release what's no longer serving you one final time, expelling it completely from your body and your mind.
Now gather yourself, opening your eyes, and feel that sense of freedom and release.
Over the course of life, we pick up all sorts of things that are useful at times, but later become burdens.
So whenever that happens, come back here and return to the river for release.
Before you go, take a second to leave a comment or review, and let me know what your
releasing in your life and what you're making space for in exchange.
I'll see you back here tomorrow on Wake Me Up.
And until then, go out and have an absolutely fantastic day.
