Starting point is 00:00:07 We're doing it. I'm wearing a hockey jersey because I didn't bring a change of clothes. But you look great. Quince, baby. I love quince. I love free shit. Free shit is a giant kitty litter the size of a mini fridge over there. I'm taking one. I don't even have a cat. I love free shit. Give it to the girlfriend. Yeah. She'll shit in a box. Yeah. We're up to the races, baby. Well, it does suck that women have to, my wife has to hover everywhere. That's got to be a horrible life. To piss because we'll be like on a Amtrak and the toilet looks like a fucking train spotting.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Yeah. And she has to hover. We got a hold, though. On a train, you got to do this shit. That's true. You got to do the kind of... But they're doing glute workouts. We're doing abs.
Starting point is 00:00:53 I'm getting abs in here. I'm doing this. You ever peed on a crazy bus? Oh, I puked on a crazy bus. Really? You never did that back in the day when we were young comics pounding it? I'm not a puker. Oh, did I wake up hungover sometimes?
Starting point is 00:01:04 Like, oh, I'm fucked. Oh, man. On my knees and a fucking bus. Shaking. Bult bus, mega bus, fun-wong. Chinatown bus. Done them all, yeah. The fucking double-decker.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Oh, yeah. Yeah, people fighting over seats. The Wi-Fi never worked. They play a shitty movie. Wi-Fi. What a scam. I know. What did you do, complain to the driver?
Starting point is 00:01:23 Right. He's fucking drunk. Yeah. Yeah. Sean Murphy had a great bit. He was like, I'm on a bolt bus and somebody got hurt. And they goes, is there a doctor on the bus? He's like, this bus was $8.
Starting point is 00:01:34 I know. Like, who's the doctor? Oh, guy. You don't want that doctor. No, no. Yeah, I did, God, I remember I was eating a subway sandwich on a bus, and I was like, I'm like, not everything in my life to be related to public transit here. This is fucking low.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Right, right. Ooh, a hoagie on a bus is tough. It's a bad look. A pedophile hoagy. Yeah. One time I got on a bus, and there was one, everybody was jammed in. There was one, there were two seats open. And I was like, oh, my God, two seats open.
Starting point is 00:02:03 It's my lucky day. And I sat down, and everybody's like murmuring. This guy's sitting there. I can't believe. I'm what kind of? And this giant black lady gets on and she's like, what the fuck is my seat? And she flipped out. She chewed me out.
Starting point is 00:02:14 And I was like, there's two seats. And she was like, I want the whole row. Fuck you. I want the whole road. And she was so scary. I was like, okay, okay. And then the whole time she was like, I can't believe that motherfucker I tried to sit in my seat bed.
Starting point is 00:02:23 And I was like, Jesus Christ. It's crazy. But yeah, that bolt bus is wild. People shy away from confrontation on the train. On the bus, they'll fucking let it rip. Oh, yeah. It's the Waffle House of the Road. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Yes, the Waffle House. That's true. Hey. Bodega Cat, cheers. Thank you, peers. After good whiskey. Yeah, man. Bus is bad.
Starting point is 00:02:48 You're doing bus. You're in trouble. Yeah, but you know what you get home, doing it to D.C. or Baltimore, you're like, all right, this is easy at least. The efficiency was nice. That's true. And it brings you to the city.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Yeah. Right into 34th Street. But I'm waiting there. He'd have like 60. It looked like a breadline. Everyone's got their super. case. Yeah, what is this, Oliver Twist?
Starting point is 00:03:09 Yeah, I know. I'd be on the bus and you take that seat and it's always a rescue. You're like, do I sit with the person? Right. Do I take my own seat and wait for which crazy approaches? That's true. It's a roll of the dice. That is true.
Starting point is 00:03:21 There was always one guy eating a subway sandwich and there was always one guy playing a casino game on full volume. I was always happy to see a Quiznos. Little things you look forward to in that situation. A Quiznos, I think, hit. I never did Quiznos. Quisnos, Peters. Can I get a... Is that just...
Starting point is 00:03:38 Is it just a subway that's toasted? You don't like it? I like it. I like it. I'm a big Quiznos guy. I never went in there. It was too highfalutin for me. Highfalutin.
Starting point is 00:03:46 That was about my pay grade. Did you like the ads in the 90s? What were the 90s? I don't remember the ads. What was it rats? These things. What the fuck? I've never seen this in my entire life.
Starting point is 00:04:00 They really broke the bank on this one, huh? They didn't bring Don Draper in for this commercial, did they? Is this a Nolan? picture? Good Lord. You brought in rodents to sing about your... I mean, this is not a good move. Wow, no. It's just a bad Photoshop shit. There's a real ad-a-N-U-N-A-No-W-W-A-N-W-Way.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Wow, well, they got us talking about it 38 years later, so I guess it worked. That is crazy. That was wild. Blimpy was the saddest. Oh, Blimpy! Forgot about Blimpy. Did Blimpy? Did they go under?
Starting point is 00:04:31 I haven't seen a Blimpie in 10 years. What? They're still around, I guess. Blimpie's like Roy Rogers. Or one of those. We can see them regionally. I guess so. Speaking of regional, what's up with In-N-N-A-O?
Starting point is 00:04:43 What's the beef? They got a real beef against the... I think they're anti-Semitic. Do we need it? Well, I'm just saying it's the principle. They won't come to the east. Yeah, we're good. All right.
Starting point is 00:04:55 I'll say this. I think that's overrated. I agree. I agree with that. Those burgers are fucking... They're like this. It's like a fucking... It's like a CD.
Starting point is 00:05:05 They're the thinnest fucking patties I've ever seen in my life. And those fries stink. The fries are atrocious. I'll give you this. The animal style is good. And I like the shakes. Yeah. And the prices are good.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Yeah. No, I just, there's such fucking thin burgers. Thin burger. And I like the protein with the lettuce, but they got lines around the block for these. They have like guys on, looks like the fucking airport where they got guys with the wands bringing you in.
Starting point is 00:05:30 There's always a line around the block. It's like a sneaker drop every day. It's fucking these lines. I know. But I do think it's all right. It's just, what is it? don't like New York.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Who cares? I mean, I think shake shacks better. Way better. Way better burger. They got beer there. Yeah. What's your favorite fast food burger? I'm a Wendy's cunt.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Wendy's is good. I like Wendy's. That's tough. Chick-fil-A is solid, but that's kind of cheating. Oh, I guess I'm just saying as a recipe. Oh, yeah. I like Popeyes. Love Popeyes.
Starting point is 00:06:03 But that'll kill you. If we're just doing fast food, but yeah, burger? I don't know. Yeah. Fast food burger. Shake Shack. If I go McDonald's, I get like the nuggets. I don't really get a burger.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Five guys is pretty good. I've never had five guys. It's a little overpriced. Yeah, that's what I've heard. It's a little much. Yeah, that in and out, do you see that in and out shooting? Really? Yeah, three people got killed.
Starting point is 00:06:27 And a guy came in with a gun and stopped the guy. So another guy with a gun saved the day. In California? Yeah, no, it was in Idaho. Mm. In and out shooting. Gunman killed three people, injured seven, started shooting people in the line. Well, that line doesn't move.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Look at that. Look, they're all freaking out. Jeez, that's awful. That's horrifying. Ah, these poor people making minimum wage. Why are they showing this video? We're trying to make them look like cowards. It's the fucking shooting.
Starting point is 00:06:57 What do you expect them to do? I agree. I'd be doing the same thing. Oh, that guy's got a rifle. I know he had a rifle. And someone shot, he got him? Some guy shows up on a horse and shoots back. I guess those are the cops.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Where's the horse guy? I forgot his name, Santine, Santino, something like that. But he shows up and starts shooting back and the guy shoots himself. Damn. Crazy. As long as they end up dead. Oh, yeah. Animal style.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I covered him in the sauce? They should have put him in the friar. Oh, what a piece of shit. Damn, crazy. I swear somebody showed up on a horse. I don't know where I heard that. Give it a goog. And you return fire.
Starting point is 00:07:50 All right, maybe we don't want them out here in New York. We don't need another shooting. You don't eat much fast food, though, do you? No, not at all, but I do love a good shake. That's your weakness. I love a milkshake. What flavor? Chocolate all day.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Really? I'm vanilla. Vanilla's good. All right, I'll do a swirl. The swirl's nice. Racial harmony? A little biracial, yeah. Swirl, I think, is better as a term than...
Starting point is 00:08:15 The mulatto? Mixed, mulatto. A lotto, I think is offensive. I think it is. Yeah. It's like Twink. You're not supposed to say it anymore. Twink is out?
Starting point is 00:08:22 I think it's out. Oh, I love Twink. Oh, they're out, Mark. And I love it every minute of it. Yeah, mulatto sounds like an Italian dessert. Oh, it's not out, apparently. No, twink is in. All right.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Well, how about mulatto's out? Milano's out. But don't that sound like a kind of like an Italian coffee? It's a cookie. A cookie. Oh, it's a cookie. Milano. Those were fancy cookies.
Starting point is 00:08:47 And they're black and white. My wife says that I can't say the wigger. Wigger is out. I've heard that's out. Okay. I still say it. You know what? Here's a problem is, in terms of efficiency, what's a better word?
Starting point is 00:08:59 Of course. You got to give me a replacement. If we're getting rid of that word, which it's fine, you've got to throw in another one that can capture what that person is in one word. Good point. But people go, hey, it's just one letter off, man. But so is bigger. True.
Starting point is 00:09:16 And digger. Mm. Digger. You're getting close. Yeah. Just digger, please. I'm just saying. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:24 It's a lot of letters. What was that now? Wankster. Wankster. That's a, it's a fitty song. Like gangster? Yeah. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:09:34 But that's like a whack. That's like a not a real gangster. That's not what that means. Oh, interesting. Okay. Oh, here we go. Wigger synonyms. Okay, Wig, get the hell out of here.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Wigs, that's just... These are very uncreative. Political term. White boy, that works. Okay. That's pretty demeaning to call a white guy who's acting black. He's going, shut up, white boy. That's true.
Starting point is 00:09:56 That's pretty good. That's good. But we're white boys. I know. So we're not Wiggers. I know. Poser, appropriator. Appropriator.
Starting point is 00:10:06 But that sounds too serious. Yeah, copycat? Who wrote this? An eight-year-old? Copycat. All right. You're ingenuine. Impersonator. Come on. Impersonator. I've used Wigger-round black people. They don't seem to budge. So that's the test. They should be the judge and the jury. Maybe just the judge. I don't know. I've just heard judge and jury. Yeah You know, wiggers are kind of few and far between When I was kid they were everywhere
Starting point is 00:10:42 Everybody was a wigger It was like normal to be a wigger Yeah, in high school I think my age wigger was really Eminem really He made people feel comfortable Completely he's the ultimate wig Yeah
Starting point is 00:10:54 But I'm sure he doesn't love that He had a different life than a lot of these kids impersonating him That's true That's true Yeah he grew up I got a shout out in a rap song Oh! Oh, perfect segue.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Sariana Grande. Zariana Grande. Zara faced an inspected deck, a Wu-Tang album, dude. Wow. I can't believe it. So many people sent me this shit. Wow, that's incredible. What they're named here, rhyme you with?
Starting point is 00:11:24 You might be drunk like Sam Boreal. Yeah, that's great in the pocket of shout out. That's huge. You might be drunk like San Marelle. That's great. Wow. Very cool. That is cool.
Starting point is 00:11:37 They had a picture of you. I love it. Salekus took that picture. Oh, really? Yeah. Whoa. That is really, you made it. That was fucking nice.
Starting point is 00:11:47 I mean, Shane Gillis was in an M&M video. That's bigger. No, but they didn't write about him. He's not memorialized. Wasn't Shane also in a, fuck, who's the other guy? Drake. Drake. Yeah, true.
Starting point is 00:11:59 All right. He's got you on two videos. Shane's big time. I'm shocked a rapper hasn't done a Gillis. What you're talking about, Willis? You know my shit, I drink like Shane Gillis. I guess Morel rhymes with a lot of stuff. Maril, fulfill.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Norman? Eh. You got to know what Mormon? Yeah, I got nothing to rhyme with me. Morel, you can get some stuff in there. Yeah, that is cool. Bell, unwell, smell. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I can't tell. I don't know. There's stuff. You could do it. Sam, for sure. There's a lot of stuff there. Mark? There you got a lot of Mark.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Yeah. The Mark is an insult in the rap world. He's a Mark. You're a Mark like Norman. Hey, that's pretty good. I'll take it. Something like there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Boy, rappers, in a song. That is really cool. That is pretty cool. Did you show the lady? I did. She liked it. Oh, that's fun. Can't really show your mom.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Yeah, she wouldn't think it's cool. She says you're drunk? Right. Two things she doesn't think it's cool. rap and someone calling her son an alcoholic. Is she not a fan of the sauce? Oh, is your mom? She drinks wine all the time.
Starting point is 00:13:10 My mom does not like booze. And she also had to pick me up from my last endoscopy because you need someone to pick you up. And, you know, not a lot of people live in my neighborhood. Liz from the cellar did the last one. But once you get your second endoscopy for stomach lining damage, yeah, and the doctor's like, yeah, maybe chill with the alcohol. Yeah, she does not care for it.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Damn. She doesn't drink at all. My mom is thin and small, I guess. She's a lightweight, so she, a drink and she's drunk. Right, right. But also, yeah, she was never, it was never really her thing. Do you dad drink? He used to.
Starting point is 00:13:48 He's cut back with age because he's just like, it's so bad for you. But he used to be a big beer guy. Yeah. I was never that in a beer. Every once in a while I like a beer, like a long day. just have like a fucking nice like I have them in my fridge just for those same but I also like
Starting point is 00:14:05 my go to is like I like the hard stuff oh man yeah me too I prefer the hard stuff but my dad I think I've talked about this he would do schlitz pull up a schlitz is some nasty shit nasty shit is it I'm pretty schlitz not malt liquor I thought it was a shitty
Starting point is 00:14:21 like Pilsner it's like a like a Paps or something but he would drink schlitz hot can on the right that see that logo on the right on the side is it considered malt liquor now that's what the can looked like and he would drink it hot out of the box he would just put a box on the floor and take one out and drink them that's what it looked like i guess it's just beer that was it right there that looks like some wife beating beer right there that's a guy who hits his wife it does look like
Starting point is 00:14:50 it would overreact undercooked food for sure yeah dinner ready is pizza what the hell the fucking what do you call this shit yeah uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh So yeah, he drank that shit hot and... Hot beer is fucking disgusting. It's horrifying and it's a shitty beer on top of it. And one day, I remember this. My dad had like some people over in the backyard when I was eight, seven. And I go, what is that you're drinking?
Starting point is 00:15:16 He's like, it's beer. And I go, can I try it? He goes, you're not going to like it. And I go, come on, let me try it. And he poured some of my mouth. And I was like, oh, you guys are crazy. How do you drink this shit? And they all laughed.
Starting point is 00:15:26 He's like, let me tell you about pussy, too. No, I mean, that's the thing, though. When you're young, it tastes nasty, but there's something about it when you get older. You're like, why does that hit so well? Especially a cold one after a long day? I think because it's not sweet. It's almost like food. It's hard to explain.
Starting point is 00:15:44 I love the versatility of like a whiskey where you can have it warm in the winter. You could have it cold in the summer. Like, there's something about that. Totally. There's so much shit you could do with it. You could dress it up. Yes, yes. If it were a wife, it could keep changing.
Starting point is 00:15:57 There's ways to keep it full. Fresh. That's true. Beer to me is like it's cold. That's it. I guess you get the hoppiness, whatever, there's different types. But I never, it was never in IPAs really. I would like simple shit like a yingling or like a mellow light or something.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Also, whiskey has an aroma. It's like, it hits you and it's warm and it's warm. It's so much to it. You smell it. The winter. The way it whiskey hits in the winter. Yeah. It's something else.
Starting point is 00:16:22 And just the look of a whiskey bottle, you see it. And you're like, inside of that, that's a magical elixir. This could make you fun, fuck a fat chick, wreck a car, fight a cop. It's just liquid. And good stuff too. And good stuff. And make good decisions as well. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Start a conversation. Start a whiskey company. This scene in Shawshank made me want to go to prison and drink beer. Oh, that's see. He's drinking a bottle on the sun on the roof. Oh, nothing better. Bucket of beers is really something special. Although I kind of have a problem with bucket of beers now after bombing for years on the road.
Starting point is 00:16:57 I know. I have a bad association with it. You know, the ice falling a little bit and you're just silent in the room. Also, blenders. So I was at the bank. Oh, my God damn it. I remember being like, could you put it like not in the same room as the stage? I know. It's like, we asked for so little.
Starting point is 00:17:17 I'm like, just not fucking. I get that you got to serve margaritas, but just maybe in a place where I can't hear it. How about this one? You're like, come on. You're killing me right at the pause. I think I never like blended drinks And I think after that shit I was like I'm never like just as a part of a
Starting point is 00:17:33 To make a point I'll never drink them Yeah 100% But margaritas, I thought margaritas are so fucking overrated I know I'm on the rocks They're crowd pleasers I get it It's like it's fine
Starting point is 00:17:43 But I never got pumped for a margarita Now and you lose respect for any man With a blended drink Like with a frozen Like this shit You know you see these guys with that You're like come on grow up You put a cherry in your drink
Starting point is 00:17:54 It better be fucking brown liquor It better be an old-fashioned Yeah, no, you do it like, I'm in a hand And you're like, all right, you earned it Right, right You earn that cherry Yeah, that's true That's true
Starting point is 00:18:04 Otherwise, you're drinking a Sunday I'm sorry Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Waggett I mean, I definitely I definitely drank the fruity shit When I was in a pain,
Starting point is 00:18:15 you shit Like those funny bones starting out And you're featuring You're like, well, I drink for free So let me try all the wacky shit Yeah What is that?
Starting point is 00:18:23 Whipped vanilla Vodka? Right, me have that with a fucking orange juice and have a creamicle. Right. And you're shit-faced. And you're like, for some reason, I feel like this isn't advancing my career. But.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Same with me. When I, growing up in New Orleans, dafferies are everywhere. Everything's got to be a fucking daughery. A hurricane. Hurricane. All those blended drinks. So you drink them at like 13 because it was a great transition into drinking. Totally.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Because it was like a slushy. Oh, it's literally getting kids on board. Completely. It's like when Alf was on the cigarette. Oh, no, Joe Campbell. I always thought it was Alf. But you see like a cartoon character. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:00 Like a bodega cat. An adorable little fluffy. Yes, what could go wrong? But, uh, oh shit, the Flintstones did commercials? No way. For smoking? By the way, you never see it. When does cigarette commercials go out?
Starting point is 00:19:12 Was that in the 80s? I think they became a law against it. There must have been. Yeah. I used to have them all the time. Holy shit. Wow, that is mixed messaging right there. I hate to see them work so hard.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Yeah. Me too. Let's go around back where we can't see them. See, we ought to do something, Fred. Okay? How's about taking a nap? Hey, they got a bitter right here. Let's take a Winston break.
Starting point is 00:19:38 That's it. Wow. The one spilt of cigarette that delivers flavor 20 times a pack. Winston's got that filter blend. Yeah, Fred. While the women are working. Yeah, great. Hey, Fred, what do you say we fuck some prostitutes while we're back here, too?
Starting point is 00:19:54 What do you think? Also, I never realized it with the Flintstones. I watched this as a kid. It's about two guys with five o'clock shadows who are married and hate their day job. And yet I was like, oh, this is a cool show. It's for kids. It has nothing to do with children. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:09 It's just two guys who work in a factory. It was just animated. It was just animated. Same with the Jetsons. They're all just like fucking miserable. It's basically the honeymooners or like my three sons cartoon. But definitely he like, Fred, he sounded like your grandpa. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:25 That's how they get that familiarity. Mm-hmm. Oh, my grandfather was in Korea. No shit. And one time, he was like, you know, tough guy, stoic, scary guy. And one time when I was probably like 14, he goes, what do you think about the foreign policy going on in, you know, Japan? And I was like, I don't follow.
Starting point is 00:20:44 And, you know, it was like a skateboarder with torn jeans on. And I was like, I don't follow you. I don't care. I don't read the paper. He goes, you know, son, one day you're going to have to grow up. Whoa. And I was like, yeah. Here, have a Winston.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Yeah. Damn, dude. Still haven't grown up, so suck it. It was Cleveland. Cleveland? Cleveland? Cleveland? Williams.
Starting point is 00:21:04 It was my mom's side. Cleveland Williams. What a name. Cleveland's a man's name. That is a man. He was a big, scary dude. Fuck. Yeah, Cleveland.
Starting point is 00:21:14 That is. Those ads back in the day, I remember all those fucking beer commercials, too. Yeah. The 90s ones. Oh, my God. We've done the twins before. Oh, that's my favorite one. And twins.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Man, the 90s had no... Blood ice. What is that? They had no filter in the night. Look at the tits on that ad. I mean, they were just going for it. Yeah. There was no women in the room to be like,
Starting point is 00:21:42 hey, hey, we got to shut this down. I remember I was watching Married with Children once, and my grandmother walked in, and she was like, I don't know how you watch this filth. This is misogynistic and all this. Oh, dude. The no-ma'am shirts? No ma'am, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Yeah, he was miserable. But he also, dude, the best part of that show is like he's a shoe salesman, and then he's miserable, his wife doesn't work. I'm like, you got a pretty nice house. That's true. For how fucking, I guess that was just the day of what it was. You could afford that on that salary. Yeah, middle class.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Also, the wife was way out of his league, and she always wanted to bang him, and he was like, ugh, get away for me. And I'm like... Even with the wig, I was like, Katie Siegel is pretty hot. Yeah, exactly. But, you know, I... I think it was kind of a tongue-in-cheek version of a, like a throwback. For sure. I mean, that show's great.
Starting point is 00:22:29 Yeah. Nobody thought it would work, and it worked. It's just a lot of zings. Yeah. Just him and the neighbor. They're literally just zinging each other. It was that kind of like mean-spirited old school. I've been re-watching all in the family.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Oh, great. That show's fucking brilliant. Brilliant show. It's one of the best shows ever made. Easily. Because he can be such a piece of shit. Norman Lear. But then by the end of the episode, you're like,
Starting point is 00:22:51 man, he's a good dude. Lovable. He finds a way to feel foolish or like, I mean, it's all in that performance, but even, you know what, those debates are brilliant. They really are. There's a line in it where he's arguing with Meathead, you know, Rob Reiner, and they're going at it. And he said, women can't lead. And Meadhead goes, what are you talking about? How about Goldaier?
Starting point is 00:23:12 And he goes, oh, the hebes, they want to be governed by the mommy. You're like, that's a fucking great line. Wow. And he would do a lot of interviews where he would shit on the character. Carol O'Connor. He was like, yeah, he's a retard. He's an idiot. But idiots exist, and we can get comedy out of it. And it was, it felt real. Like that, like, well, you could disagree, but still love each other. Like, that was, that was. We could use some of that these days. Yeah, it was pretty, pretty great. Yeah, yeah. It was, I think it was a British show first, and Lear kind of plucked it
Starting point is 00:23:44 and made it American. Some of those old shows, dude, like taxi, they hit so fucking hard. Yeah. Those are all the Simpsons writers from the early years. Whoa, I didn't know that. Yeah, just heavyweight writers. Is that James L. Brooks? He did it, yeah. Yeah, wow. Brilliant guy.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Till death, do us part, was the British one. Yeah, yeah. I think was the Jefferson's? That was a spin-off of all in the family. Okay. Pretty ahead of his time. He's doing these crazy political debates, these racial debates, societal, whatever. And then he brings out two big black shows, good times and Jefferson's.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Crazy. Yeah, I mean, he just figured out the fucking recipe. Yeah, he really did. He was going for changing the game. He was ahead of his time. Speaking of changing the game, man, I'm listening to the audiobook of William Friedkin's audiobook, who, you know, did The French Connection, The Exorcist, and, you know, to live in Dile, Sorcerer, all these great movies.
Starting point is 00:24:42 He did Sorcercerer? Yeah, I love that movie. He bombed so fucking hard. It opened the same day of Star Wars, I think. That's right. But, yeah, Sorcerer is great. Ironically, that movie bombed. It's all about nitro glycerin.
Starting point is 00:24:54 Yeah. Oh, God damn. So cool. Roy Shiner. He's the man. But yeah, he's talking about getting these movies made and you're like, you know, we're working on trying to get a movie made. So it's kind of interesting to me, all this shit that goes wrong.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Even when you think you have the stars aligned and how sometimes it still works. And, you know, we had a director drop out of our movie. We're on the one yard line. We were right there. We're about this was to shoot in October. And then the director and, you know, it'll work out. We're interviewing people who are interested. So we're meeting with people.
Starting point is 00:25:20 But it's like, oh, shit. Things just, you think. you're set. I know. Why do we even say we're going to do this when, you know, we will, but... Yeah, but it's scary when you haven't even started yet and there's a problem. And then here's the scary part. We're going to solve this problem and there's going to be a whole other thing in the future. You don't even... That's why you can't worry because, like, you don't even know what's going to happen. He's talking about filming that epic chase scene and the French connection, which, you know, it's on the above ground subway. And he's like, check, okay, can... How fast is the
Starting point is 00:25:45 train going? They say, yeah, 50 to 70 miles an hour. He's like, okay, a car can conceivably go 50 to 70 to keep up with it. So he's like fact-checking for the... thing. Then, you know, Gene Hackman, didn't want Gene Hackman in the movie, whatever, but he didn't. He didn't. Wow. He wanted, like, Jimmy Breslin, who's a journalist, who was a cop hater, so it got a lot of shit. Then he wanted, uh, what's his name? The Dad on Everyone Loves Raymond. Oh, Peter Boyle? Yeah, he wanted him. Wow. He didn't want to do it. He played those types of guys already. And Gene Hackman didn't like playing a racist cop. He was like, I don't like this character. But he's like since admitted, like, it changed his life,
Starting point is 00:26:17 obviously. Sure. They're talking about filming the scene. And, uh, He has to get the rights from the MTA and they're like, no fucking way. We're not doing that. It's going to be dangerous. And it was dangerous when they shot it. And he goes, what can I do to get the rights? And the guy goes, $40,000 and a one-way ticket to Jamaica. And he goes, why one-way ticket?
Starting point is 00:26:37 He goes, because they're going to fire me when this comes out. Whoa. And they did. And they did. And the guy just had moved to it. He's like, I hope he's having a nice life in Jamaica. Jamaica is so funny. It's fucking crazy.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Wow. His stories are wild. I mean, the book literally opened. on him saying, yeah, some young, I've made some mistakes in my life. Some young artists gifted me these two paintings. I don't know who the fuck he was. I threw him in the garbage. Turned out to be Basquiat.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Oh, my God. They were worth $14 million. Oh, my God. He turned down getting like a creative stake with Prince. Oh, man. I'm trying to think he's racist. But, no, I mean, the book's incredible, dude. Wow.
Starting point is 00:27:16 I'm all over it. That's my cup of jizz. Yeah, so that's a wreck. And then also another movie book wreck. Jason Ziniman, the comedy guy, wrote a book called Shock Value all about horror movies of that time. So it kind of overlaps.
Starting point is 00:27:29 I think that's what one led me to another, you know? Oh, interesting, okay. But it's crazy stories about the whole chapter's on De Palma, which you'll fucking love. Yeah, I do love De Palma. Okay, I'm in. I love all those guys.
Starting point is 00:27:40 The Palma finds his fucking, finds out his father's cheating on his mom. So he, like, you know how all his movies are like voyeuristic and like, let me spy on you. He, like, finds him, he gets the proof, shows a mom they get divorced. That's incredible. That's insane. Wow. Holy shit. Crazy shit. That's a movie right there. I know. Kid filming his dad, stepping out. Wow. Crazy shit. But yeah, well, like this movie's, you know, stressing us out,
Starting point is 00:28:06 obviously. We're dealing with so many ups and downs, meeting people. Like, we're like, oh, we're sold on this one guy to direct and this other guy. Yeah. But this is kind of part of the business, that adventure. It's like the offer. We're making the godfather. Oh, we got Al Pacino. He's too short, fuck him, we want Robert Redford. He's not even Italian, blah, blah, blah, you know. Marlon Brando's a pain in the ass. Yeah, makes you romanticize it, for sure. Completely. And we're going to be telling these stories in 50 years, or maybe less than 50.
Starting point is 00:28:32 But, you know what I mean? Guys who die in 14 years. But, yeah. Well, I love all that old 70s shit. Me too, man. Spielberg, Lucas, De Palma, what's the other guy's name? Kubrick. They're all friends.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Scorsese. Yeah, Scorsese. They're all friends. they all hang out. It's like young comics who are like trying to make it, hustling, trying to prove themselves. I love that shit. That error was sick, man. Oh yeah, they're all on blow. They're all like down and out. We got to get Schrader on here. I want some Paul Schrader stories. He did Friedland show. That guy gets everybody. I don't know how he does it. We got to get Schrader. He got Hunter Biden, too. Tell him. We'll do it. We might be coked up with Paul Schrader. We'll blow lines with him.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Ooh, now we're talking. Yeah, that shit's great. Oh, what are that? Oh, so I'm listening. is this podcast called Founders. Ooh, sounds interesting. It's this crazy guy named Steve Senra or Renra. David, David, David Senra. This guy's a nut, but he's like a file cabinet of information. He reads autobiographies and then tells you all the greatest hits. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:29:40 So I listened to the one on Agassi, which got me into the, and then your wreck on Agassiz. So I'm like, all right, I got the book. I think it's the greatest sports book ever read in Agassiz. It's autobiography. my opinion. But like all the Henry Ford and all these guys are unbelievably interesting in their stories because you always hear about Steve Jobs with the turtleneck. That might be the best that my favorite biography ever. Yeah. So he breaks. Walter Isaacson. Yes, but he brings it down. Huh? I think he teaches the Tulane, Isaacson. Oh, really? I could be wrong. Wow, that's incredible.
Starting point is 00:30:10 But yeah, so he just breaks down the best part. So it's like the highlights of all of them. But that makes you want to seek out more. Yeah, I listen to the Roger Federer one, but the Christopher Nolan one. Oh, the Rick Rubin one's a great, too. Christopher Nolan, I had no idea. His parents, his mom is British and his dad's American. They send him to the hardest Catholic school, boarding school in England. They live in Chicago. They're like, get out of here.
Starting point is 00:30:34 They put them in the school. It's like a military school. He said the school was Darwinian. Like, if you didn't keep up, you got your ass kicked, they kicked you out. It was horrible. And it taught him, that's why the Odyssey was under budget and ahead of schedule. Damn. That movie was ahead of scheduled under budget.
Starting point is 00:30:50 That's insane. Yeah. But he's like, this school taught me how to do things efficiently, do things quick, and make shit work. And fucking fascinating. He said, he's like, Inception. I thought it when I was 16. I would lay in bed at my boarding school and think about Inception. And then he made Inception.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Now everyone's laying in bed scrolling fucking to you page. It's like there's value in. Bortem. Bortem is valuable. 100%. Yeah, he said he would just lay there and think. And he has no cell phone and he doesn't use email or anything. And he just thinks. You have to be so successful or so unsuccessful to live that way. That's true. Because you're so shut off from the world. Like you need to have like eight assistance, which he probably does. Or you just don't. You're just like, how do I get in touch with that guy? You know, like, I can't. And he wants every part of the movie. He's like, I want to work with the costume guy. I want to work with the set guy, the script guy. I'm the director and I work the actors and the location guy. He's all over the movie. He's all over the movie. He's. He's all over the movie. movie. Yeah. And he did Momento.
Starting point is 00:31:50 He played it at Cannes or whatever. Dead silence after the movie and he was like, I bombed. Everybody hated it. And they got like a 10 minute standing ovation. Whoa. So then you want to... Do you feel like everything gets a 10 minutes standing ovation? It feels like that.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Yeah. Like, this movie got an 18 minute standing ovation. Like, that's not even fucking possible. I know. Nothing got a 18 minutes standing now. Six minutes of doing this. You're like, we're still going. I've never, I don't think I've ever been in present, in the presence of a
Starting point is 00:32:16 movie getting a standing no. Is that like a thing? Why do they do that there? No, I haven't either. Is it all like showy? Is it just to be like... I think in festivals they'd do it, but maybe clap, but a standing O is crazy. It's weird.
Starting point is 00:32:29 Yeah. But that's how they show, you know, whatever. But he tried to make another movie. Nobody would buy it. And then he was like, all right, I guess I'm out of the business. Soderberg was like, no one's hiring this guy? So him and George Clooney executive produced it and he got... Which movie was that?
Starting point is 00:32:45 Whatever the second movie was he made. Sorry. Not the following. No, no. Huh? That was the first one. That's his first one. Okay, maybe that was the one that played at Sundance and killed it.
Starting point is 00:32:55 So Memento, they did Memento? So the Memento, he tried to sell it. Nobody would buy it. And then they got it made. Damn. And then he was full to the moon after that. Then insomnia. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Okay. Imagine that your third movie, you're working with Puccino. And Robin Williams. And Rob Williams. That's a sign like, oh, this guy's got something. Yeah. And then Batman Begins was huge. And Dark Night, of course, the rest is history.
Starting point is 00:33:21 Yeah, wow. And he did Inception in between the Dark Night and the Dark Night Rises. That's crazy. Fascinating life this guy had. And always tinkering, always working on stuff. He had a studio. And then the other wreck is Project Hail Mary. Woo!
Starting point is 00:33:38 I think the best movie of the year. Wow. Okay, I like that. I love it. Really? It got built up so hard to me that it was like, it's good. It's a good movie. but it's also like, yeah, no, it was good.
Starting point is 00:33:48 It was a good movie. I was a little thrown by the alien. I know it was going to be that much of an alien. Got a little cutesy for me. A little cutesy, but I didn't know he could carry a movie. What are you talking about? He's like the best. I had no, I never seen the nice guys?
Starting point is 00:34:01 Yeah, but it's him and Russell Crow and it's a good script. This is him alone carrying it. He's in a lot of stuff. Pull up his IMDB. He's, he's had a guy. Drive, he carried. Drive, yeah, La La Land. He's great in.
Starting point is 00:34:13 He also stole the show in Barbie, by the way. He did. Two straight guys being like, you know what's good about Barbie? The man. He was the best. He was. Well, he was the comedic relief. You know, also, crazy stupid love is a slept-on rom-com.
Starting point is 00:34:26 That's true. I don't usually like rom-coms. You've got to be, it's like a horror mood to me. It's got to be so good for me to like it. Right, right. But, like, that's one that you're like, yeah, that's undeniable. Yeah. And it's actually funny.
Starting point is 00:34:37 Yeah, what, that, Annie Hall, there's not a lot. Harry Met Sally. Harry Met Sally is a bang. But Annie Hall is cynical. True. They don't end up together. True. High fidelity, cynical.
Starting point is 00:34:46 Yeah. I like the ones with some fucking cynicism. And they both break the fourth wall. True. No, Gosling's great, man. Get him on here. Ugh. That's a weird in here.
Starting point is 00:34:58 That's a weird in here. You seem to think we can get Brad Pitt, which I don't believe. That's crazy. He's back on the sauce, which does work in our favor. I was trying to think of the, what's the funny tweet here? What's the tweet? It's like, TMZ. Brad Pitt's drinking again.
Starting point is 00:35:11 It has that funny photo of him with crazy sunglasses on. And I couldn't get it. I put bullet train, like bullet dry. No one liked it. It had to be explained to me. Yeah. But if I saw the spelling, I would have gotten it. Ah, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Somebody wrote a, oh, now we're going to hear what he really thinks about the Jews or something, and it went crazy viral. It's not that good. I mean, it looks like a strip club owner or something.
Starting point is 00:41:14 club? No, I don't know. How do you... Oh, like flight of beers. I don't know. I got nothing. What do you want? You just threw it out there. That's a tough one. Huh, something. I tell you, there was something in this cup. Sorry. But yeah, yeah. Brad's drinking again. So come on in, BP. That'd be a fun app. I know you got a new movie.
Starting point is 00:41:34 What's his new movie? Oh, is it the fucking Tarantino one? Yeah, Cliff Booth. Tarantino played that well, dude. What do you mean? Well, he's like, if it, If it's shitty, no one's going to blame him because he just wrote it. Oh, right. Because Fincher is directing it. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:41:50 And if it's amazing, he's like, I wrote it. He nailed, it's like true romance. That's a good point. He also wrote Natural Born Killers, which I didn't love. But he hated it, too. He got ahead of that one. Oh, okay. He was like, they ruined it.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Oh, all right. True romance I fucking love. That's a fun movie. Chris Penn's great. Yeah, he is. He's always great. RIP. RIP.
Starting point is 00:42:11 He's in that close range. I got to, so you told me, I've always almost watched at close range. It's heavy. Because it's one of those that always gets brought up as like a neo-noir. Yeah. But yeah, I got to watch. It's Sean Penn and-
Starting point is 00:42:24 And Walkins is dead. And it's like a life of crime and all this shit. And it's a true story. But the cool thing about it is it's Walkin as a great actor, not Walking being Walking. You know how Al Pacino became like, one set of a woman hit, he was like, who-ah! He became a black jazz musician? Yeah, she's got a great ass. You know, same with Walking.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Walking's like, oh, the watch was in my ass. I'm the only comedian who can't do a walkin. I know. But this is Walking just as an amazing actor. He plays like a rural redneck in rural Pennsylvania, and it's incredible. Damn. I mean, you are in Pennsylvania. You're like walking down train tracks with Corn Husk next to you.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Logan? Something like that. Hogan? Something. I can't remember. I've heard it's good. It's good, but it's, and Sean Pets. Man, is unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:43:15 Boy, that guy can act. He brings the fucking heat, dude. Does he bring the heat? Always. But it's very rebel out of causey, like, Jesus Christ, that guy is a catcher's bit. I mean, that is, he is aging like milk. What the fuck of it happened? Harvey Milk.
Starting point is 00:43:29 Look at that. Harvey Milk looks better today than Sean Penn. I know. He's like an old couch. That is crazy. What's the smoking, maybe? Yeah, for sure. He just won't give it up.
Starting point is 00:43:40 No, no. Also, he's hanging out with the cartel. He's in Katrina with. the shotgun and a canoe. He lives hard. He lives hard. He was on the front lines of Ukraine the day the war fucking broke. He was like, I'll check it out.
Starting point is 00:43:54 We're like, you want to make a movie maybe instead? Yeah, he's good. Wow, let's see the dating history on Penn when you're done there. I don't know. He didn't Charlize Darren? That's a biggie. Whoa! Olga croca-cocococola.
Starting point is 00:44:11 You know they're hot models when you can't pronounce their names. Oh, yeah. Minka. Kelly, good golly. Calua Rivera, Garcel. Wow, Garcel Bovay. He didn't know that day with Johansen. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:44:23 We got to do a fact check on that. Let me call Colin. Joe's, wow, Julia Robb. Jewel. Madonna. This is. A lot of one names. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Sting. Holy shit. He really. Paul. Sting. Peggy Trentiti. Bridget Nielsen. I hope that was before Flava.
Starting point is 00:44:42 He got lost in that thing. for sure he's a short fella she liked them little she did I guess some women like a short king he looks a munchkin yeah I think you had a there's a pub in there
Starting point is 00:44:58 there's a whole bunch of people there's good man yeah I got a good movie wreck for you La Pesine French movie Hey man when there's these criteria on sales Every once in a while I'm like yeah fuck it That looks like a good looking movie I want to buy the DVD because it looks better
Starting point is 00:45:11 And I just bought it P scene with a P Yeah It's the swimming pool. Yeah. It was remade in American. I think it sucked. P.I.
Starting point is 00:45:20 This one's with Elaine Dilan, the old French hunk. Oh, he's a handsome dude. And Romy Schneider, who is a fucking fox. Oh, Jane Birkin's, like, super young in this. And it's the vibe. You don't know exactly how everyone knows each other. It's this attractive couple by the pool, making out. They're fooling around.
Starting point is 00:45:39 You're like, what's their story? She says her friends coming to visit them, who they both know. and you don't know how they know them. But then the friend has a weird competitive thing with Elaine Dulan and he has a weird flirtation with her. And they have a weird thing where they get turned on when they make each other jealous. You could tell it's an unhealthy relationship.
Starting point is 00:45:56 The friend brings his daughter. And then, you know, she's trying to make him jealous with flirting with a friend. And he tries to make her jealous by flirting with a daughter. And it turns into a fucking mess. Whoa. And it builds slowly, but it gets really fucked up. And it's, I think it's a beautiful-looking movie.
Starting point is 00:46:13 It's in a French Riviera, I think. So it looks insane. Like the colors are beautiful. It's like this affluent lifestyle. It looks cool. But then it's also like... 95%. It's got a little Mr. Ripley in it.
Starting point is 00:46:25 There's a little darkness to it, which I dig. Wow. This is a great premise. Yeah, it's worth a watch. Okay. 69. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:46:34 That's very kind of a Woody Allen, but a sexy Woody Allen. Yeah, totally. Interesting. It's kind of got that vibe. Less dialogue for sure. Oh, really? Well, like, every word kind of, there's a lot of weird things that happen. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:47 It's a little more, like, uncomfortable, I think. Yeah. I like movies like that. Yeah, there's that, there's that infidelity type vibe, too, but, uh. It's kind of like sexy beast. There's not a ton of dialogue, but you feel everything. Totally, and it looks so fucking cool. Who directed that?
Starting point is 00:47:05 Because that was an interesting look. Oh, Ray Winstone is underrated. Yeah, Jonathan Glazer. What else did he do? Okay. I love that we're talking to, we were talking to director, and he was getting mad at us. He's listening to this, and he's like, you guys don't know the name. I'm yelling at it into the fucking phone.
Starting point is 00:47:22 Well, one of the guys we're looking at to direct our movie brought up Ray Winstone. You know, is it Roger Corman? Yeah. He was a producer, right? Yeah, he was friends with Nicholson. Yeah. So he would stand on the movie set and throw lines out. And him and Nicholson were buddies, so he would go to every Nicholson movie and just throw lines out.
Starting point is 00:47:42 So he went to the departed to hang out. And there's a scene where Ray Winstone shoots a lady. And Corman goes, you know what you should say when you shoot her, say she fell funny. That was him? And he goes, why would I say that? And he goes, because it shows how often you kill people that if someone falls weird, you have to acknowledge it. That's good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:04 I thought he just came up with that in his own. That's fucking great. No, there's the, scroll down. Scroll down. That's the Matt David story where he tells it. Right, right. Oh, yeah, we just fucking watched this. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what Ruben said.
Starting point is 00:48:16 Yeah. Good stuff. Good stuff. I love the movie knowledge. Boy, how about you got a hint to Matt Damon. The guy wrote a fucking script, came out of nowhere, and now he's in the Odyssey. Yeah. Like, worked his way up, the informant, all these movies.
Starting point is 00:48:32 Then he did an action saga trilogy, did that. You know, now he's doing his own shit, Project Greenlight, whatever the fuck. He really went all the way up to last. Yeah, he's fucking great, man. He's great. I mean, we're not. It's a pretty obvious take. Matt Damon's good.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Well, I'm just, I'm not just saying he's good. I'm saying he really, he stayed good and he stayed. He's got integrity, I feel like. Yeah. He loves movies. For sure. Yeah, I like listen to him talk about movies, too. It's like he just seemed, they seem the head of the curve when you hear him talk about.
Starting point is 00:49:06 Yes. Although Ben Affleck's getting lay eye and people are getting mad at him. About what? He's leaning in. AI. He's saying we... Oh, he is? Oh, he's like, we gotta do more with AI. A lot of people are saying that. It's not, I just... Look at that. Founded it. I just think this AI shit, man, like, if you're using it to cheat, it's like, it feels like it's cheating. Like, I don't want to get behind a fucking... I understand people have their opinion on it, but like, anytime I hear people ask,
Starting point is 00:49:30 like, oh, you can use it for jokes. I'm like, that takes the fucking fun at a writing jokes. I agree. Like, AI with jokes? Yeah, I'll Google something. If you use it, like, for information, you know, the way you use Google, it's different. being like using it to help you create stuff. Using it to create is cheating. I agree. I agree. And it's also not even good at it. But maybe it'll get good at some point. It'll get good. So yeah, I mean,
Starting point is 00:49:54 but it's, to me, it's like... And it stunts your writing. It's going to make sterile shit. If you're using it, you're going to make sterile shit. Yeah. I agree. Because you're going to be able to tell that something's soft. And the fun in this, like, there's no fucking blood and guts in your shit if you're using that. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:50:12 It's like those songs that are overproduced. You want a little bit of feedback in there. Yeah. You know, you want to hear the music. You want to feel real. Yeah. But everybody's doing it. Scorsesey's doing it.
Starting point is 00:50:24 George Lucas is doing it. Yeah, I heard Eli Roth did it. He was getting shit for it. Oh, yeah. That movie looks like a fucking turd, though. Oh, yeah, that does. What was that one called? The Ice Cream Man?
Starting point is 00:50:34 Yeah. Is that a horror, I assume? Oh, boy. Yeah. This is not my cup. 28. percent on rotten tea it's like to the kids have bad ice cream
Starting point is 00:50:47 and then murder all the adults what's the demo for this yeah I don't know I guess like horror nerds or something yeah people like horror they're all trying to be weapons because weapons was so low budget and a huge hit
Starting point is 00:51:00 but weapons had more yeah sure weapons was great yeah and I'm not a horror guy yeah just the AI and the defending of the AI I want no fucking part of it yeah but also you got it now that we're trying to make a movie when this guy got this movie made there's actors there's a script there's uh you know editing involved there's sets and locations
Starting point is 00:51:24 and then it's just a big piece of shit you know it's like it's got to be crazy to go all that way and then he must have really cared about this movie and i'm not saying this piece of shit i'm saying rotten debate is and saying this piece shit yeah i'm not going to do the research to find out no no no but yeah i know it's like that isn't a crazy thing about that you put like The good thing about stand-up is like, we can kind of focus test it a little bit. You take it all over the country and you're like, all right, it's hitting. It's ready. I know.
Starting point is 00:51:50 Or as opposed to, you know, a movie, you could just put your heart and soul into it and it comes out and it's a piece of dog shit. Totally, totally. I mean, that's what Freakin talks about in the book, too. He sucks about, like, you know, he put all his heart and soul into these things that just weren't good. And it happens. It happens to everybody. I mean, how long you worked on a joke where you're like, I got to just drop this thing? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:11 You know? But again, that's a joke. You didn't put any money into it. This is like years of work and grips and lighting guys and craft service people. And that's just a big pile of shit. A lot of work. Crazy. But think, I mean, great people make pieces of shit.
Starting point is 00:52:27 Yeah, yeah. Like directors we love have made pieces of shit. That's true. Scorsese has, you know, some weak movies. It's kind of inevitable. I mean, I heard the new Spielberg sucked. Disclosure Day. Oh, Megalopolis.
Starting point is 00:52:41 Perfect example. that's that's a crazy one that's a bummer because it's it's also his money oh that's what sucks is you put your fucking money where your mouth is and you lost what over a hundred mill is that copula yeah yeah sold his uh winery oh is that right yeah poor bastard we could have written a better movie yeah he just took a big swing yeah you gotta respect it i respect the fuck out of it and the thing is you human interviews and he's still sharp i mean him talking about he's you you're like, yeah, this is passion and this is cool, and I guess it didn't work.
Starting point is 00:53:15 I didn't see it. I heard it was pretty rough, but maybe I should just fucking wash it. Yeah, I mean, look at the castes great. I heard him in an interview, this is probably 10 years ago, but he was like, Hollywood won't give me a movie unless it's a gangster movie.
Starting point is 00:53:28 And you're like, damn, that's shitty too, though, because you're like, he has to have one genre for the rest of his life. It's like what Josh Homi was saying. Like, people should be able to, you know, evolve. Yeah, you know, and then you even watch, do you ever see the documentary for Apocalypse now, like the making of it? No, I heard it's great. It's incredible.
Starting point is 00:53:50 But it shows how even at his creative peak, it was kind of a mess. I mean, think about how long it took to shoot that movie. He was in the jungle for like, oh, what? You fact checked this, but I think it was like close to two years. Wow. First actor who forgot who before was Martin Sheen dropped out, like fuck this shit. Martin Sheen shows up. He has a heart attack.
Starting point is 00:54:10 He's a young guy. I mean, it was a fucking disaster. Then the movie's over budget and he's like, I'll put up my own fucking money. So he's like, if it doesn't make this money, I'm in it. So he gambled then. Whoa. So that maverick type wild card shit was already in him. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:54:24 But, you know, that shit, when it's 120 or whatever of your own money. Yeah. It's crazy that a brilliant guy can put up 120 for his perfect vision and it's a piece of shit. I mean, it does go to show you that, like sometimes these gatekeepers, although they're wrong a lot of the time, sometimes they do know. Yeah, that's a good point. Sometimes they're like, that's not right and that's not going to work.
Starting point is 00:54:46 Sometimes a little guidance is good because we've seen people who we know are hilarious too. Yeah. And they kind of lose those people. They don't really want to hear it from people anymore. Right, right. And that loss of connection, their work suffers. Their work suffers, for sure.
Starting point is 00:55:01 Well, you know, you got those guys with music. You have like Rick Rubens who come in and they go, let me make this album better. Or it is a movie Rick Rubin? Yeah. You know, is there a guy who comes in? and goes, I don't like this. This is going to flop.
Starting point is 00:55:12 This is going to be bad. We've got to change that. There must be that guy. I think you bring in, if you have your friends, if you still trust your friends, you bring your friends, be like, what do you think of this? I guess so. Yeah, but just like Michael Mann bring in, you know, Wes Anderson and go, hey, what do you think of this shoot shootout scene?
Starting point is 00:55:29 I'd make it a little more whimsical. It should be a little talking fox here somewhere. Right, right. He hasn't had a movie in a minute. Who? Wes Anderson. He just had one. he did yeah it just came out oh boy the phoenician scheme last year didn't say it oh boy didn't even
Starting point is 00:55:47 hear about it and i like benicio let me pull up some peeves i got here watch out everybody yeah what do you got i got some you peeving i usually try to remember him and i said fuck that i'm writing them down and now i got a bunch yeah i think i got some okay hold on let me find them here pee here we go uh this is annoying no way and i did that Two weeks ago. Hold on. Where's the new peeve? There it is. You ever have this guy who is trying to get an answer out of you and you don't know, but he keeps asking? You know, it'll be like, what's that West Anderson movie, the one that just came out? I don't know. Was it Grand Budapest? I don't know. Was it the fantastic Mr. Fox? I don't know. Was it a Mystic River? I don't know. I think they're going to shake something loose and you're like, I don't know. I don't know. And I feel bad saying, I don't know, seven. 17 times, but once I said, I don't know, I don't know. Also, you got a phone.
Starting point is 00:56:44 Use the fucking phone. Right, right. Yeah, but he just kept going, and it was driving me crazy. Yeah, I know. Yeah, I got a few peeves. I got one. A big one is, I'll do this sometimes. Like, I just eat too much sometimes.
Starting point is 00:56:58 So then I'll just be like, I'm just going to get healthy shit. And then I just eat way too much of the healthy shit. I'm like, what the fuck am I? Oh, interesting. There's this place by me called Tashkent. It's a little fucking new grocer. Great, they have great shit. They have this.
Starting point is 00:57:10 carrot salad. It's, I'm like, oh, eat healthy. I'll just eat a lot of carrots. A lot of carrots. Going through jars of this shit. It's drenched in vinegar. Then I'm having, like, fucking heartburn. So you're like, you gaslight yourself and you're like, I gotta eat healthy.
Starting point is 00:57:22 And then you're just like, well, now I'm sick. Oh, I know this place. It's fucking awesome. They have awesome food. Good shwarma there, too. Ooh, all right. That's a peeve. I got another peeve.
Starting point is 00:57:33 All right, a peave on a peeve. Yelling from the other room. Just come in the room. Why are you yelling? That's a lady thing. It's a real lady thing. Well, your lady yells. My wife will be like, I'm like, you're in the other room.
Starting point is 00:57:47 How can I hear that? Oh, my God. I would rather her go, what? Where's the toothpaste? But she's like, where's the toothpaste? She'll always do it when I'm doing it. Like, I'll be like brushing my teeth, electric toothbrush. And she's yelling.
Starting point is 00:57:57 I'm like, you know I can't hear. Right. You use this toothbrush. And come in and talk to me. The yelling's not working. Yeah, she'll be in bed. That's a lot. Oh, that's what it is.
Starting point is 00:58:06 Yeah. And I'm just like, come out. Just fucking come in the room. Yeah, yeah. I hate that, hate that. My wife will have a full conversation, and I want to be in the room, and she comes in, she's like, isn't that crazy? I miss the prequel. I'm getting the sequel here.
Starting point is 00:58:19 I missed a new hope. You're right on Return of the Jedi. Yelling from the other room's a big. That's a big one. That's a big one. Okay. Oh, how about this one? I hate this guy.
Starting point is 00:58:31 This guy drives me crazy. The guy who keeps asking if you're ready. You know, he goes, oh, man, you're not going to believe who I saw yesterday. I'm like, oh, hit me. He goes, you ready for this? I'm ready, baby. Who'd you see? You sure you're ready?
Starting point is 00:58:45 Are you ready? I'm ready. We're all ready. I don't really even give a shit. And by the way, it's never Bill Cosby. It's never huge. I know, exactly. Just Steve, and you're like, that's it?
Starting point is 00:58:55 Yeah. I buckled up. I know. You told me to be ready. I'm wet. I'm loomed. You ready? You ready for this?
Starting point is 00:59:02 You ready for this dick to get your ass? Yeah, bring it on. I fucking hate that you ready. You sure you're ready? You should be going the other? the way you should go down lowering the lower the lower the bar so that way I'm really dazzling right you're setting me up for disappointment that's true because it's never that great you're right it's never that good yeah good point all right you don't believe who I fucked the other day
Starting point is 00:59:22 who you ready I'm ready you ready you ready you're ready you know what I'm not ready give me an hour and a half then I'll be ready let me take a shower it was my girlfriend anyway it wasn't good I was gonna say RuPaul but it wasn't uh what else Can you give you a wreck? Oh, please. I watched the entire series of the Sarah Silverman program. Whoa. And by the way, shout out Dave Justcow who's in that show.
Starting point is 00:59:49 Oh, yeah. A lot of people. Slippy Aigley. Yeah, it's a good. So the Reck is the Sarah Sullivan program? Yeah, it's a good show. It is a good. It's tight.
Starting point is 00:59:59 It's funny. We almost had her on this show, but it didn't work out. We'll get her eventually. I watched it when it was new, but I don't remember it that well, to be honest. Harris Whittles wrote on that show. Whoa, that guy's brilliant. Eastbound and down, Parks and Rec. Wow.
Starting point is 01:00:12 I think he wrote a book, too. Yeah. He invented the term. Humble brag. Really? He invented that term, the humble brag. Damn. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:27 You said you started five easy pieces and didn't finish. Are you going to go back to it or you're just done with it? I will. You talk me into it. You got to go back. I think it's a classic. I think it's a classic scene. It's a classic scene.
Starting point is 01:00:36 Oh, did you not make it to the diner scene? No, I made it like a scene. Oh, my. The diner scene's class. Classic. That's crazy. That's like walking out of something about Mary before the jizz and the hair. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:47 I never walk out of that one. Dude, five easy pieces. You got to go back. You watched something else so, too, didn't you? What was the other one? Do the right thing. That's classic. I tried to watch Bound.
Starting point is 01:00:58 No one's got it. I tried it on Plex. I couldn't find it. Dude. I tried it on Amazon Prime. It was $3.99. So I bailed. Oh, come on.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Drop the $399. It's worth it. It's a fucking great neo-noir. And $499. Our buddy who's a director, he told you to see it to him. He was raving. Both he were raving. The Wokowski's did it before The Matrix.
Starting point is 01:01:20 Yeah, that's a good son. I love Gina Gashon. Oh, man. That's a great flick. All right. Highly wrecked that one. If you want a fun, fun movie. All right, how about this guy?
Starting point is 01:01:30 Last Peeve. You ready? Okay, last beef. The guy, you're in a group, maybe four or five people. Everybody's cracking jokes, having a good time. and the guy who makes a joke in the middle of all the jokes, not the best joke, but everybody keeps going,
Starting point is 01:01:48 and then he keeps repeating it, making sure you heard. Even though we all heard it the first time, we just chose to quietly move on, but he's still hammering it just in case. He didn't get what he wanted. It didn't get what he wanted, so he keeps repeating it.
Starting point is 01:02:00 You can't recycle new material. I know, especially if it didn't hit, it didn't hit, except it move on. That's the thing. You got to assume it was heard. Yeah, yeah. So now it's bombed four times instead of one.
Starting point is 01:02:12 So I'm trying to think of an example of what it was, but it was, you know, it was a green room full of comics, and the guy was just saying the same line over and over. But I got a peeve for you, though, on top of that. All right. It's when you do that, and then you don't repeat it, and no one actually heard it, and then someone else says the same thing a second later,
Starting point is 01:02:27 and they get the laugh. Oh, that's, yes. The hijacking. The hijack joke. The high joke. The high joke. Yes, yes. That's a fucking, so that's a peave on your pee,
Starting point is 01:02:36 but you're right. You got to just take the L. You can't go, I just said that. Yeah, that's a bad look. I want credit. Yeah, yeah. But the worst is when they really blow the guy, they're like, oh, shit. That's the fucking line of the night.
Starting point is 01:02:48 You're like, oh, no, that was mine. Play the tape. Review the tape. Yeah, that's tough. See if I have any other peeves. I think I do. I'm peaving up a storm lately. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:03:02 Oh, here's a fucking other girlfriend peeve. Uh-oh. And it's like indecisiveness is really the peeve. But it's like, she was going to cook for me, which is very nice. But she can't decide on what it's going to be. And you and I are in the middle of having a panic freak out because we're on the phone. We're going back and forth because of a director dropping out of our thing. And we're figuring out who's the next one.
Starting point is 01:03:24 And we're talking about the meetings. And we're kind of going back and forth. And we're being our own indecisive, but it's over a big thing. She asked me 42 times, chicken or fish? And I go, it doesn't matter. She goes, well, the chicken, this is the positive. The chicken is like, either way, I'm happy with whatever you make. And she goes, the fish, this might be a little healthier.
Starting point is 01:03:42 It's white fish. It's full of protein. I'm just like, honestly, it doesn't matter. It could even order it in whatever you want. She goes, but I want to make you something. Okay. And then I'm like, very nice. Very nice.
Starting point is 01:03:51 But I'm also like, she goes, chicken it 40th time. She goes, so Bronzino or like a corner. I don't give a fuck. Whatever you make is fucking fantastic. That's got a black guy. And the worst on top of that, peeves. Now I'm an asshole. This is the worst part.
Starting point is 01:04:07 I know, I know. I'm just trying to cook for you. you when you're yelling me, oh, you know. Well, on top of that is when you go, the chicken. And they go, yeah, the chicken wouldn't be good, but the fish. Don't ask me. You wouldn't even need me. You don't need me.
Starting point is 01:04:19 Just choose. I literally, I literally think of just you choose. You choose. I'm so happy you're cooking. I know, I know. That's annoying. That's a peave. Anyway, she made me steak.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Hey. And she moved out. Yeah, I hate to, uh, I might have used this peep before. But now we're, we're peeing on top of peev and I'm on a peev roll here. Yeah. The, when you make the plans or you figure something out, so you do all the dirty work, I got the tickets. I got us the Uber. I got us parking.
Starting point is 01:04:49 And they go, this Uber sucks. Why did you get this Uber? Oh, man. Oh, you got us these tickets. We're at Roe 70. Oh, that's kind of shitty. This parking garage, you? Why did you pick?
Starting point is 01:04:58 And I'm like, you didn't do anything. I know. And now I'm getting punished for doing the legwork. I did the itinerary. Yes. Oh, I'm the same way. Dude, I'm the same way. I'm a little bit of a control freak with this stuff.
Starting point is 01:05:09 I like to plan everything. Yeah. Just because I want to make sure everything's good. Sure. Then you make one misstep. That's all you hear about. And it's your fault. Everything is your fault.
Starting point is 01:05:17 Yeah. So that one sucks. And I got one last piece. I'll tell you, I wrote them down. You're fucked. I might have a couple more. I'm peeping up a storm too. I'm getting a little annoyed with the, uh, the you got to do.
Starting point is 01:05:32 You know, the guy goes, uh, you ever do a chiropractor? I'm like, nah, I never did a chiropractor. You got to do. do a chiroprice. And by the way, that's not what you got to do. Oh, really? That could go south. Really? I mean, it's not like, fucking doctors hate chiropractor. Really? You do acupuncture. Yeah, it's different. Okay. It's the, it's the cracking they don't like. Whoa, I crack everything. Acupuncture is ancient Chinese medicine. That's fucking like needles. It's like deeper than a massage. I think an acupuncture could be really good. Do you feel better after? I feel way better. Oh, all right,
Starting point is 01:06:05 all right. Yeah, I don't do it a ton. I just don't have a lot of time to do it. But like, yeah, A good acupuncturist, that's... A needle in your forehead feels like... Try one right here, buddy. It'll really turn things up. Do it under a bridge. Yeah, but they'll be like, this needle in your knee is for harmony. This is for...
Starting point is 01:06:24 Well, that sounds weird. That shit. And all that. I'm like, what are we doing here? You're telling me there's a thing right here. I see a needle in the forehead. I'm like, this is crazy. Yeah, but you really...
Starting point is 01:06:34 It can really help. Okay. I mean, doctors recommend acupuncture. Oh, okay. All right, all right. These are crazy. These, not the, not the, I can't watch a dog get cracked. This is weird.
Starting point is 01:06:45 But. You just breaks his neck. I know. It feels like it. I've gotten a chiropractor where it's help, but I'm scared to do it. Oh, really? The cracking scares me, yeah. I did it once. Bert, you know, Bert has to go all out on these tours.
Starting point is 01:06:58 He gets like, he had a haircut lady. He had a chiropractor. He had like a guy making snowballs. Nice rump. But he got a chiropractor and I had a crazy neck crick from a lot of, long flight to Phoenix and my neck was killing me and I said fuck it man hit me I was a little nervous and he's like oh my guy he's feeling my neck he's like this is crazy how often do you fly I go every weekend he goes I can tell your neck is fucked up and I was like oh shit and he went uh hold on
Starting point is 01:07:22 one second and it felt I felt like a child again I felt great yeah it can help but I do I worry that they're fucking something like they're giving you temporary relief and they're fucking something what I worry about but yeah I've done it like same with you it's like the travel will fuck you sometimes and I've had problems. I remember doing a Conan or something back in the day, and a guy completely saved me. Shout out Dr. Cole and Studio City, I think. Save the day.
Starting point is 01:07:49 Now, a good massage. I feel guilty getting them, but when you get a good massage, that is the best thing in the world. Two things that are really good about them is, one is, I just feel like I can think. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:04 My mind is clear, because I'm not thinking about anything. Not your phone. Yeah, But also, yeah, I mean, you just realize how fucked up your body is as you get older and stuff. Yeah. I don't stretch enough. I went to yoga from Liz from the comedy seller over the weekend, and I left. Like, I feel so fucking good.
Starting point is 01:08:19 Really? I just don't, as an adult, you just, we got to stretch, man. I know. We're tight. I know. Boy, yeah, it's bad. Sometimes I'm banging the wife, and I'm like, I could never do any of the shit I'm doing with her legs. If you did this shit with my legs that I'm doing with her legs, I wouldn't eat her.
Starting point is 01:08:34 I would break. Like, I'd be in the hospital. I'm like flipping this. And she's pregnant. I'm flipping that up, flipping this around. I think women are built different, though. They're biologically shaped so you can penetrate them. Oh, totally.
Starting point is 01:08:50 That baby's getting a full-body workout. You're sticking in daggers. He's bouncing around. She's falling everywhere. He thinks it's a coat hanger. Yeah, but he fist bump my dick. But yeah, yeah, it's weird. But I think women physically are more limber.
Starting point is 01:09:07 They got to be. Of course. Okay, okay. Totally. Yeah, you see the shit women doing those. I mean, that's why those classes are usually women, but I see a lot. I was there on Saturday with Liz. There's a lot of dudes in there.
Starting point is 01:09:16 I was the only one to cut my shirt on, but I mean, some of these dudes, I'm like, keep the shirt on. Yeah, yeah. Those dudes are chiseled. Chiseled. Yeah, they look fucking. Some are not, though. Okay. There's like a type of dude that does yoga that I'm like, this is all you do.
Starting point is 01:09:30 Yeah. You got to do something else, too. That's true. They got the skinny fat. Oh, it's weird looking. Yeah, yeah. You'd almost rather be a fat guy. Yeah, it seems more fun.
Starting point is 01:09:39 Then, yeah, than like the doughy, skinny guy. There's no fun to mean, although I guess you could fix that a little more easily. Who knows? I don't know. That's true. That's true. But that was a big Connor McGregor thing. He would always be like, you skinny fat, skinny fat. To who? To who?
Starting point is 01:09:53 To Nate Diaz. Yeah, but he was a badass. Oh, I mean, the guy's a fighting machine. I don't want to fuck with that, dude, in the dark alley, Nate Diaz. I met him. He's like a fun type of crazy. Yeah, completely. I went to high school with guys like that.
Starting point is 01:10:06 What was he like when you met? him. Scary. Like, super nice, but, like, you just didn't want to cross them. You know, you're like, hey, man. He's like, hey, how are you? And he's like, eyeballing you. And you're like, uh-huh, ha, ha, ha.
Starting point is 01:10:16 You just, you know. Did he know, I say fucked up shit to any, any actor, him. I didn't say a fucking word. I kept it straight down the middle. I said, yes, sir, no, sir. You're holding a fart. Yeah, exactly. I would not fart on that guy.
Starting point is 01:10:32 Yeah, wow. It is funny because, like, it's just a classic example of, like, yay. You don't fuck with anybody because you don't know. You don't know. You don't know who could fuck you the hell up and you don't know who would want to. Yeah. That's what's cool about basketball is kind of like this.
Starting point is 01:10:47 So is hockey. Sports where you don't need to be huge to be good. Yeah. Brunson, what, 6-2? Yeah. Amazing basketball player. Like every UFC guy, not everyone, but most of them look like regular guys. Like they're fit, but they're not like bra.
Starting point is 01:11:05 And then sometimes being the biggest dude doesn't actually translate. Like Kimbo Slice, you know. Totally. It was a great street fighter, but you've got to be kind of technical on those things. Yes, yes, exactly, exactly. Hockey, you can see a hockey player on the street. You wouldn't even know it. Veter played hockey.
Starting point is 01:11:20 There you go. Patrick Kane, he's a short hockey player. Like, there's hockey players who are not huge. Yeah, what's that guy? Jack Hughes, they won the Olympics. Oh, man. He's just like a little twinky guy. He's a cute guy.
Starting point is 01:11:30 How tall is Jack Hughes? I'm going to say 5-8, 5-9. Really? If I had to guess. Look how cute! 5-11, okay, taller than I thought. Yeah. But it makes sense for hockey, like, low center of gravity.
Starting point is 01:11:43 A lot of it's about balance. It makes sense. Yeah. It's about, like, fucking speed that hit a lot of the time, too. But finesse, you don't have to be that big, I guess. He was banging a Tate McCray. They just broke up. All right, page six.
Starting point is 01:11:58 Yeah, the old Segura. He's a... Going off. I mean, what a year that guy had. Man, the fucking USA, baby. I know. Men and women. I know. What a fucking run.
Starting point is 01:12:09 Hell yeah. Love it. Love to see it. Now, the hockey, the women's hockey, they're not dealing with all this hoopla. What do you mean? Well, I feel like the WNBA is all this drama, drama. You don't see the lady hockey team. Well, there's no lady NHL.
Starting point is 01:12:22 There isn't? I don't think there is. I guess you're right. I mean, it's just the national team. CWHL. Oh, Canadian women's hockey league. Because I do not want to see the paycheck for that. They pay you to play.
Starting point is 01:12:35 Yeah, right? Holy shit. That's fucking, yeah. I was looking up like what men made in the 60s, 70s in the NBA. And if you adjust for inflation, it's like basically what women get paid for the WMBA now. Interesting. But it is a newer league. But, yeah, I mean, it's way less.
Starting point is 01:12:53 You know, it makes less than all the women bowling. Yeah. Bowling men make less than any lady sport in history, except for maybe cheerleaders. The average professional bowler between 40 and is it? 55. Yeah, I mean. Wow. But you get to make a living as a bowler.
Starting point is 01:13:15 That's pretty cool. That's true. Elites get 150. That's crazy. Damn. 150 to 450. Okay, okay. That's pretty good.
Starting point is 01:13:25 Some people make them good dough. That's pretty good. But you don't get the ladies. I bet. You know, I think if you're really good at anything, you can impress ladies. I think women are impressed by just like, like, if you're, like, really disciplined at at something. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:36 gamers get laid. Those gamer guys, there's millionaires. I don't know if it's so weird to be like, baby, sit here for a second. I know, I know. But yeah, these guys, these Asian kids, they sit in an office chair with a headset on, just kicking ass. Well, you see the money they make on those Twitch streams. Oh, no. It's like, oh, they're making bank, dude. Damn.
Starting point is 01:13:59 E-sports average salary. What do you got? Hit me, baby. 138 to play video games? I guess that's not bad. I think that's going to be the next big thing. What, video games? Yeah, like we're going to watch the Super Bowl of video game people. That's going to happen. God, I feel like it's happening. Mateo, lame, my neighbors always like come down on my Twitch stream.
Starting point is 01:14:21 He does Fortnite and people just watch him play video games and bullshit. Wow. And he gets paid for it. Wow. What a time to be alive. Sure, we got homeless and fentanyl and culture war and all this shit. But get paid to play video games. video games. What a country.
Starting point is 01:14:37 It is crazy. Your parents would yell at you as a kid. Like, that's not going to take you anywhere. And now it's like, it could have. That's true. If you believed in me, Mom. That's true. Yeah, wow. Yeah, video games were a nuisance. I'm not a big game. I just feel like it's, I don't feel good after it. Like, if I watch a movie, I can at least I kind of sit and think about it. I agree. But I love like NBA 2K when I was a kid. And I love those, like, obviously, N64 when we were kids. That was fucking amazing. That was great. But I just feel like if I opened that door. It's gonna fuck up my life.
Starting point is 01:15:08 It's like a drug. I'm gonna be on it for like eight hours. I'm gonna wake up the next day like, fuck, I neglected all this shit I needed to do. Exactly. Because you get into that call of duty, Halo shit. You can do nine hours on that stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:21 Oh, it's so fun. I remember when L.A. Noir came out. I was like, this game was made for me. I get to cross-examine suspects for evidence. Are you fucking kidding me? I don't remember that game. L.A. Noir? That was fucking sick.
Starting point is 01:15:34 I forgot. It was awesome, though. Wow. It was like LA confidential as a video game. It was so cool. I've never heard of this game. Dude, it could have ruined my life if I let it. I mean, it's a drug.
Starting point is 01:15:47 It really is a form of drugs. Like, it's like, oh shit, I just spent the whole day on Molly. At least a co-op shit, at least like for kids or like they're being social and stuff. Sure, sure. But that's true. I mean, they're calling each other the worst things on the planet. But yeah. But yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:02 I mean, I remember he was a kid that you'd have like one of the friends. You'd go to the place and everyone would play like smash. or Mario Card and whatever. And I was like, that was fun as shit. That was great. That was going to get a pizza. And you get your friends together. It's like a thing.
Starting point is 01:16:13 But now I feel like it's all made to be isolated. I know. Because that's where they make their money. It's like all of you on your own system. So that's, that kind of sucks. They've taken that away. Did you have the kid who would throw the controller on the ground? That's the worst.
Starting point is 01:16:26 We had that one kid and he would break the controllers. And you're like, hey, asshole. Now we all can't play. You're a spas. You're a spas. Deal with your emotions. Yeah. The same guy who got drunk later.
Starting point is 01:16:36 and threw his phone on the ground. Or the guy who reset the fucking thing. You're the guy who flips the monopoly board. Exactly. You're the fucking worst. Exactly. He pulled the cord out of the wall, something. Piece of shit.
Starting point is 01:16:47 No sportsmanship. A rage quit, they call it. Yeah, yeah. Grow up. Take a loss. It's a bitch move. Yeah, these people didn't play sports or anything, I'm sure. That'd be funny about a guy rage quit like that in the gamer finals.
Starting point is 01:17:04 He's just like, fuck this. Reset. That's the one time I'd allow it. Yeah. Because at least that's like your rep and money on the line. Right, right. This is recreational. We're having fun.
Starting point is 01:17:13 What are you doing? I guess chess, when you think about it, chess is the original video game. Yeah. It's two guys going at it. But chess for some reason is like, I guess video games require skill, though. I was going to say it requires, like, you have to kind of see. Definitely. But I guess chess is seen as more cerebral.
Starting point is 01:17:32 Like, you have to kind of see ahead in a way. That's true. That's true. It's also such an angel. game. Right, right. Chess is very impressive. I'm impressed by people who are really good at it. Same. I tried and I didn't have the band. I'm not good at it. You know, I just didn't care enough to go for it. Yeah, I had a friend growing up who was a fucking master at it. He was like ranked for his age group number two for a while and then he became a drug addict. I think those dudes
Starting point is 01:17:56 live in their heads. They do. And they just become fucked up. But he would be tweaked out on drugs, hustling dudes in Washington Square Park for money and then you get money for more drugs. Whoa, that's amazing. Yeah. I mean, I think Bobby Fisher was a real nut. Yeah, I think so. He had some problems. Queen's Gambit.
Starting point is 01:18:13 Oh, yeah, she's hot. It was a fun show. Yeah, the whole thing's made up. I don't know if I fully bought that a woman that hot is going to chess. She's too hot. Yeah, that's a story about a guy. They made it a woman. Fun fact.
Starting point is 01:18:25 Oh, really? Yeah, yeah. Well, it was the time, you know, we wanted to be empowered. It was fun, though. It was a great show. Yeah, I was into it. She's always good. She was, remember the, the, the, not the invite, the dinner?
Starting point is 01:18:38 I didn't see that one. I heard it's good. It's really good. I got to see it. It's eerie and dark, but it's good. What the fuck is that called? The menu. The menu!
Starting point is 01:18:48 I got to watch that. Ray Fines. You can't go wrong with Ray Fines. You can't go wrong. That guy brings the heat. Schindler's list. In Bruges. In Bruges show?
Starting point is 01:18:55 Quid show. Always good. Scary guy. Oh yeah, he's an X-Men or what is that? Conclave. Conclave That ending sucked Really?
Starting point is 01:19:08 I hated Oh he was trans or something It just was like Forced as fuck All right Yeah he's good Oh the English patient Was a big hit
Starting point is 01:19:17 When I was kidding I never saw it I never saw it But all the moms liked it They were like Oh The English patient That was a big one
Starting point is 01:19:23 Boy this was a big movie You have sack lunch Yeah we were just This is what we did When we used to get Shitface at the bar We just talk movies Yeah
Starting point is 01:19:32 Well we're doing movie so how about that it's a it's a stressful thing but luckily luckily we're on the same page but yeah people just quit i know i know you were just quitting you and it's like it sucks when it's over money because it's like we're not making fucking money yeah well it's too it's one of those things that we've been talking about for so long i can't even imagine it's actually gonna happen like they were shooting for october i know intended but it's like damn that's is that gonna be are we gonna be on a movie set with a guy with a big bullhorn and a beret going action and then a crane comes comes down and then, you know, somebody throws a script down and goes, I can't work like this.
Starting point is 01:20:08 Is that going to be us? Yeah, you just worry we get a director who's going to try to change the tone or change a lot. We have an aesthetic we want to hit. We have like a vibe we want it to be. And you just want to make sure they kind of, they work with that and don't overtake it. Totally, totally. But, yeah, it's why you do interviews. There's definitely a couple interviews where we were kind of looking at each other like, what the fuck did this guy just say?
Starting point is 01:20:30 There was a couple of like, what the fuck was that? Yeah, yeah. We were at that restaurant for a while. Oh, yeah. You finally were like, okay, I have to go home. Oh, I did the move. I did the move where I just paid. Oh.
Starting point is 01:20:43 That's the wrap-it-up move. I went to the bathroom piss and I was like, well, I got this. That was a good move. But I loved him, though. I thought he was awesome. He was great, very passionate, good energy. But it was just two hours, and we just potted all day. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:55 I got shows tonight. I got a child. He's waiting in a Waymo. Yeah. I got to get the hell out here. Yeah, so that was great. but all fun, all part of the process. He made an awesome movie if you guys want to check out called Bunny on Netflix.
Starting point is 01:21:08 It's an awesome movie. Go look at Bunny. It's one of the dudes we met with. It's really cool. Very cool. Great stylized. Ben Jacobson, Mo Stark, Stefan, the three of them made this movie together. Very cool.
Starting point is 01:21:19 AJ Nadu is always good. Office space. Yeah, not going to work here anymore. One of the great lines. By the way, Mike Judge is making a new movie. Is he? Yeah, with Ben Stiller. No shit.
Starting point is 01:21:32 I'm supposed to give that away. Damn. But all right, we got to wrap this up here. What are we doing? Should we plug some dates? Yeah. All right, I got the Brea Improv, August 21th through 23rd. I got a lot of dates coming up.
