What's new, what's new with Menace?
What's up everybody and welcome to another edition of What's New Pod.
I'm Menace. I am not joined by Bort today. He is having some plumbing issues.
So he is not joining us. I'm actually in Coachella, California
broadcasting live from a closet. But we are joined by Eric
who works for the NFL Podcastinging network and he live in downey
california in the same building but not in the same room is also randy who works for the nfl
podcasting now and our friend right across the way would be tyler and whittier california coming to
us live we are all connected from various places and i'm happy that you guys are here this takes
me back to the covid
days man we were all we would leave work because they didn't want us in the building for any
extended amount of time and then i'll post up in our bedrooms the power of the internet it's wild
i think about that a lot now with just like podcasts you know podcasts just popping up like
wildfire i know so many of these are just done from like people on different sides of the continent
the world and it's it's so fine-tuned now it's so easy to just get people linked up and make it
sound good that's a big thing definitely that's the hardest part to make it second the early
covid days it's like people would do this stuff and it sounded like ass i know i think we were
you know what i'm gonna i'm gonna tab us as the spearheads. Oh, for sure. Good audio quality in different locations.
Oh, we're crushing everybody for sure.
Because like even the stuff that was on the air that people are trying to do it, you know, not just podcasting, but like FM radio.
And they were trying to do it remote.
They sounded like a terrible Zoom call.
And somehow we had higher quality than they did.
Now, right now, I'm in a huge closet that sounds like an echo chamber,
but with the power of AI now fast forward with all these years later, I'm going to try to clean
that up and make it sound a lot better. So people might not even notice it. It's crazy. I've been
digging deep into the AI game, but before all that, Eric, were you jealous that last Friday
I was at SeaWorld and I was kissing beluga whales? Yes, I was
actually. You know, I get some FOMO. I get a plain amount of FOMO from most of your adventures and
your Instagram stories and stuff. You're a busy man. You do some really cool things. But yeah,
SeaWorld, any animal interactions are usually towards the top of the list. I looked out and
I did the Santa Ana Zoo. We all went to the Santa Ana zoo. So we all got to, you know, experience that one, but SeaWorld, there's
something about aquariums and water animals, just a different level. Yeah. And then I got to see a
bunch of other animals like alligators and stuff like that. But the whole reason that I was there
is actually a couple of things. One, I got to see the brand new roller coaster that they have there
is called Arctic Rescue rescue and it is
awesome you kind of sit like on these snowmobiles and then you go through the coaster and it's like
crazy fast and then also i got to go see this new area of the park it's called rescue junior
they teach everybody on how they rescue animals now sea world has kind of downplayed this but
behind the scenes they have like saved so many animals on a daily basis that people need to know about this kind of stuff.
So I went backstage and hung out with like all the animals that they just saved.
I got to see a baby sea lion that was only 48 hours old.
It's crazy on what they do.
And they do it out of their own money, too.
Yeah.
I mean, the whole animal thing.
I'm not going to lie.
When I saw that you went to SeaWorld, I got super jealous cause I love animals and stuff like that. And one of my
favorite places to go around here locally is aquarium of the Pacific. Like I just love that
place. Right. So when I saw it, I was super jealous, but it also kind of reminded me that
I've told myself this before, and I don't know if I've ever told any of you guys this, but if
down the road radio just ends up, you know, not panning out the way I wanted before, and I don't know if I've ever told any of you guys this, but if down the road radio just ends up not panning out the way I want it to and I want
to switch professions, I've actually thought about going back to school and getting into
zoology.
I've always kind of liked the idea of working at a zoo.
I don't know if I'd want to work at the LA Zoo because it's, I mean, it's good, but it's
hard to pass up when you have something
like the San Diego Zoo like two hours down.
But yeah, no, just like the whole animal rescue thing and just animals in general are so sick.
Like my favorite animals are penguins and I figured they might have that at SeaWorld.
I don't know if they did or not.
But like if I saw you hanging out with those, I was going to be like, what the hell, dude?
Should I hit me up?
We can go whenever we want.
We're friends with them now.
So- Hell yeah. Let's go. Let's plan a trip. I was going to be like, what the hell, dude? Should I be up? We can go whenever we want. We're friends with them now, so.
Hell yeah, let's go.
Let's plan a trip.
There's a checklist I have of places I've wanted to go to that little child, little boy Randy never got to go to.
Going to SeaWorld on behalf of the station
and with the show a couple of years ago
was like one of my top moments
because I've always wanted to go to SeaWorld.
I'm getting, I think I'm too old for Legoland.
So the fact that SeaWorld is putting more money
into their park and putting more like adult friendly stuff makes me all the more just like, I'm just going to spend as much time as I can at SeaWorld if I can.
I'm sure we can make that happen.
And then I still want to go to Legoland just to check it out.
Now, Eric, you have access to children.
You have kids in your family.
Can we borrow the kids so we can go to Legoland?
Or can you just go as an adult?
I don't know.
I heard rumors that you can only go if you have kids with you. If it requires a small child, I'm sure my niece
and nephew would volunteer fast. They'd be down to, you know, I think they can clear their schedule
so we could go to Legoland with them. Imagine that conversation. Hey, my buddies want to go
to Legoland, but we can only go if you go. Are you down? Hey, Mike, can I market kids for the day?
Yeah, for sure. Now, speaking of the ocean, I saw that you guys did a live podcast by the ocean
just the other day, Eric and Randy. That looked pretty fun. What were you doing?
It was cool. Every year, I think every year in June around the NFL, ATN, the show that we work
with at the NFL, they go on the road. Everybody gets bogged down during the nfl season you get kind of you get up
to your ears at nfl and they want people in studio good like you know quality sound quality video i
mean it's not that take away from the the level of audio and video we put out but they want you
in studio it's a lot easier run a lot more moving parts way more people on the production so they
take the off season um once a year a couple times a year get out see the sun the sun didn't come out
that day it did suck it was a little overcast, a little chilly, but yeah, it was cool. We did it at Vista Bar and
Grill, I think. I think it was called Vista, yeah, in Rosa Beach, California. So we were recording a
podcast and the beach, the ocean was literally about like six, seven feet behind us. So I mean,
you do remote stuff all the time, man. It's like, it's always cool to get out of the studio.
Yeah, definitely.
Mingle a little bit. And most of these things, you do the work, but it's for the stuff after.
You get to hang with some friends, some people, stuff like that.
So yeah, we had a few drinks after.
It was cool.
There was a lot of comments because you guys posted photos.
And there was one photo in particular where Randy was chilling and it looked like Eric was working.
Do you have any feedback about the feedback that you were getting on that?
You know, people love to talk, of course.
And the photos are fun to play around with,
and they do paint a certain photo, a certain picture, I should say.
But, I mean, you know, once everything is, because live recordings,
I mean, you know as good as anyone.
Once everything is set and done, you don't want to touch anything,
and it's real delicate. And I was just kind of like, I found a comfortable seat, and is set and done you don't want to touch anything and it's real delicate and i was just kind of like i found a comfortable seat
and i was like i don't want to be moving around i don't want to step on any cables i don't want
to touch anything eric's in charge of this if eric needs something he'll bump me he'll let me know
and i'd rather be seated here when he turns around like yo can you write this down versus
you know schmoozing with someone on the other side of the patio i think the problem with the
picture was just um randy's um like uh what's the what the patio. I think the problem with the picture was just Randy's, like,
what's the, what's, not stature.
Is stature the word I'm looking for? But, like, how he was
sitting. Yeah. His posture.
My posture. There we go. That's the word I'm looking for.
But, no, Randy did exactly what I needed for him to do.
It was a bad look, but he did exactly, he was
there for me when I needed it. I mean, I got
comments. I got comments from certain towns.
You know? And, uh,
and it's, it's,'s it's funny you know i
thought about i thought about some potential clapbacks but i i held back you know because
i'm a nice guy uh yeah it was a fun time we had we had a good time by the beach i wish to somebody
came out you know i thought it was funny because i'm looking at the picture and like not only do
you have randy's posture thing but i probably dove into this a little too much but i thought
it was
funny looking at like the colors and the style of clothes that they're both wearing so eric's
wearing like all kind of like bluish colors more on the bright side short sleeve like you know
for the beach and everything randy's in like sweatpants t-shirt all black sunglasses i don't
want to be here look just leaning all the way back and i just thought this is really the complete opposite it's like a yin and yang thing you know okay so we literally had
a meeting earlier this week in which one of our bosses made it a point to point out they're like
you know randy uh it would do you some good to push your chair in and maybe clean and maybe clean
up clean up after yourself and i was like what the hell where's this coming from i'm the only
one who leaves my chair out this is to open a team meeting dude yeah dude it's the icebreaker for the meeting and he just gets roasted for the first 10 minutes and
he basically because it's typical right yeah he's like he's a little bit of a pack rat like a boss
the day before he sits at his desk he's like he pulls out a box yeah and he's like are these
assorted chips and it's like lays and there's hats and t-shirts in there and he's like my what is
this yeah so he was calling you a slob in front of everybody yeah pretty much and my response to
the chips by the way is um uh our cafeteria started charging for food and i bought those
chips as a response i was like i'm not paying for chips but i ended up buying lunches anyways
anyway my second point uh to respond back to the thing that ty said. Me and Eric literally had a conversation earlier that week about how I can be perceived
as a sad or negative person because we were talking with a
coworker and they call themselves a pessimist.
Me and Eric were just talking about being down in general. Eric was pretty much saying
you're kind of the same man. You kind of just come off as sort of a sad, maybe down person.
But I was like, yeah, but i always viewed myself as like eeyore almost you know where it's like i'm sad and i sound bummed all the time but this is just how
i am all the time like imagine if i started talking with like more upbeat and more of like
hey guys how's it going everyone's gonna think either something's wrong i think it's just uh
it's phony the volume of your voice not like you don't have
to be like hi how you doing blah blah it's just like um the monotone you know and i have issues
with that too i can't shake it man it's been like this for years i don't even notice it sometimes
yeah i'll be like yeah uh that's good and like are you okay i'm like what are you talking about
i'm like oh well uh we'll work on that voice. Maybe a couple Red Bulls on the daily.
You know what's going to save me?
All this new technology.
I'll make it change my voice and make me sound like Ryan Seacrest or something.
Smart, dude.
Yeah, man.
The power of AI, man.
Dude, guys, I haven't even shared all the stuff that I've been working on.
I've been actually in a deep, dark hole.
I turned my phone to, I don't know like sleep mode what do you call it like do not do not disturb yeah do not disturb i don't know
what they called on the iphone but that's all i've been learning and it's freaking awesome
did you see the photo that i remixed tyler at the beach now i did see that that's one of my
more unflattering pictures i I hate that. Now that's
some, now that is something I always sucked at was Photoshop. I was never good at Photoshop.
And I did that with, um, with some Adobe AI technology and I easily cut out the background
and I easily, like, I just typed in like starfish or whatever. And I was able to put those elements
in. It was crazy. Now, another thing AI has been really helping me with this video. And I was able to put those elements in. It was crazy. Now, another thing AI has been
really helping me with this video, and it was super fun to do the podcast at the Wynn Hotel
because we got so many video clips out of it. And we do have the technology that like, you know,
of all of us being in separate places and recording the podcast with video. It's just a time consuming
part of going back with all the video and cutting it into little clips.
But I have learned how to do that much, much, much faster.
And you'll be seeing those probably in the next two or three podcasts.
So that's going to be fun.
Speaking of the win, I was there last Friday and I went and saw a comedian.
Her name is Hannah Burner.
And I forget like how dope it is to see comedians at the win
and they always have like a really really good lineup so if you are in vegas you want to see
comedy show you can always go to the win.com and type it in and see who's going to be there and
there's always big names there also everybody knows already it's an awesome place to stay. But another thing that I did in Vegas, BattleBots,
guys, we need to go together.
I saw about the
FOMO stuff. That was right there with SeaWorld.
Yeah, we, uh, when me,
me, Bort, and Tyler were zipping around
Vegas that one time, we passed by the
building. It was that big, massive building
that said BattleBots, and we were like, oh, we gotta
go there. It's one of those things where I
remember seeing it, uh, maybe when I was, like, in high school, and I was like, oh, we got to go there. It's one of those things where I remember seeing it maybe when I was in high school,
and I was like, oh, this looks kind of cool.
And then I saw the video you posted.
I was like, holy hell, I need to go there immediately.
What's cool is they set it up just like wrestling,
so there's teams, and everyone's talking smack to each other,
and everybody's drinking and having a good time.
We definitely got to go.
And the funniest thing is they brought out this slot machine.
They're like, oh, this bot has been destroying lives all day. And then they bust it out and they just absolutely destroy
it. It explodes. You can see it on my Instagram at menace, M-E-N-A-C-E. Now I know I'm always out
and about, but Tyler, you're out at a bar or somewhere and a listener spotted you and bought
you a drink. What was up with that? Me me and a friend of mine we went to go see it was still the eastern conference finals between
boston and miami for the nba so we went to go see that game at a bar and this guy comes up to me
he's like hey i'm really sorry to interrupt are you tyler and i was like yeah dude what's up
and he introduced himself i actually remember his name his name was alex from lahabra he was
actually a pretty cool dude um and he offered to buy me a beer. So I'm like,
yeah, sure. Like, you know, like cool. And you know, we talked for a minute,
really chill dude. But I thought it was funny because he's, he told me that he was basically
talking to his wife, uh, right before that. And he said that, I, I know that dude should,
should I go say hi? And his wife kept telling him, like, no, leave him alone.
Like, he doesn't want to be bothered or anything.
And he went up anyway.
But like I said, he was a cool dude.
It was really chill.
It was nice to talk to him.
But yeah, that was pretty fun.
And I mean, I got a beer on him.
It's horrible complaint.
Yeah.
Now, do you know from the Woody show
or from this podcast?
I think mostly from this podcast.
I mean, to be perfectly honest honest if you know me from the
woody show you've been listening to that show and this podcast probably for a really long time
but uh yeah i think mostly from this podcast i yeah i mean it's a deep cut because i was thinking
about it the other day and the last time i was on the show was march of 2020 and that was well
over three years ago yeah it's kind of crazy to see how fast time has gone since then.
Yeah, but you still get shout-outs.
You got shout-outs, like, I would say a week and a half ago, two weeks ago.
Eric, Randy still get shout-outs.
I get randomly recognized.
I mean, there's a few things, if it matters to you,
there's a few things that I've encountered that happen once you leave the Woody show.
The diehards will stay engaging on your socials.
You lose some followers
which is something to notice if that matters to you it's always fun to run into people at the
most random places like i've been at dodger games walking out of the restroom and they'll be like
yo randy fist bump i'm like oh hey what's up man or i just random conversations i've had guys at
restaurants people at the grocery store be like uh you know and i'm just like oh hey what's i mean
yeah it's cool.
It's still pretty chill.
But the fact that you got recognized, that's a deep fan, dude.
That's a deep cut fan.
Yeah.
Hey, you know what?
The funny thing is, too, because you just mentioned that some people will just recognize you coming out of whatever.
I remember this was still when I was working for the show.
I think this was either late 2019 or early 2020, right before the pandemic.
But I'm at AutoZone.
I'm just getting
something for my car i don't remember what it was so i'm checking out and the guy's like oh here's
your total i'm like okay dude sounds good and he heard my voice and he looks up and he's like
are you tyler for the woody show and i'm like yes and like we ended like he ended up being a really
cool dude i mean it happens all the time i I mean, especially in Los Angeles, of course, though, the home base, you know, the Woody show has,
you know, been a number one morning show for years now. So, and Los Angeles is just such a
good place to do radio because people live in their cars. They love radio and they actually
like look you up and see what you look like and see what your life is about. And, you know,
I've traveled the country, you know know how much the Woody Show has expanded.
And there's no other area in the country that loves radio more than Los Angeles.
Maybe New York a little bit, I would say a close second,
but there's no way there's any other city in America
that loves this format, hands down.
I can actually confirm that,
considering that I moved for two years.
And don't get me wrong,
the people we had listening to us in Texas, they were great and they were very loyal. confirm that considering that I moved for two years and don't get me wrong like the the the
people we had listening to us in Texas like they were great and they were very loyal but I can
definitely tell you that some of the live events we had we'd have you know we'd have a decent size
crowd and everything but I've also been to some of the live events that uh am570 would have because
I'm such a sports fan I've been to a couple of those and the crowd has always been way bigger so there's definitely more of a following over here now tyler not to switch
subjects but tyler yes um i think i know where this is going oh do you know what we're about to
talk about take a guess i'm pretty sure read my mind pretty sure we're talking fast x yeah hell
yes yes dude guys have you seen fast x yet i have not that's a negative guys you're missing out
right tyler dude this i don't even know how to describe it so you have you have like the wild
car stuff that they've been doing and then you look at that uh like some of the stuff that
happens in the movie you look at like okay really like come on like is that actually happening and no it's not but the other part of the movie and this is definitely what makes the entire movie
jason momoa is such a great villain for this type of movie he has a psychotic joker thing going on
but a lot less dark but it's so good like he completely makes this movie he is hilarious in this movie
just a great villain dude i was dying the whole time like i already liked jason momoa but i fell
in love with jason momoa in trash bags man it's it's there's one part it's not a spoiler but like
he gets hit in the face and whoever hits him he just yells back and he's like you butthole and
i'm like i died laughing i
was like that's so stupid it's so childish but for his character it just works and it is hilarious
man it's such a good movie it's such a fun time for a summer blockbuster type of movie yeah eric
but guys are you sold there's nothing i would want more is the rock back in that crazy ass
no i'm totally lying dude i can care less about all of this
okay alright
I'm over The Rock I'm over Fast X
I'm over Fast Million
Fast Tyler
are you telling me right now
that you're over Family I don't see it dude
I don't think I would hate these films
I like stupid things stupid fun
things I mean I love The Meg
The Meg was one of the most fun I've had in the theaters in a while.
So I'm sure I'd like the Fast movies.
I just haven't gotten around to them.
Honestly, I just feel like I'm too far behind that to catch up would take a lot of time.
And so, I don't know, maybe I'll get around to it eventually.
But I wonder if Vin Diesel, behind all that family and Dom Toretto-esque-esque this if he's like a marketing genius
and was like yo we're just gonna tell the world that the rock and i have beef no one will question
it and then we'll say that we're unifying and squashing the beef to create the hype for the
new movie because i just don't see how the rock would ever say no to being a part of the fast
films like what that beef could be, who knows.
Now Randy, I actually had
the same thought. I'm like, hmm,
is this a whole like wrestling gimmick
where he's just gonna be like, I have beef
but that just gives me enough time to go
do a bunch of other movies. Yeah.
And then I'll be back. But I don't know
if you heard the news today, Tyler,
that apparently this
whole Rock thing, right?
He's going to have another offshoot movie.
So the Fast X 2.
I did hear this, yeah.
Part 2 is still going to happen,
and apparently part 3 of this Fast X series.
But then there's going to be a little offshoot movie
focused on the rock in between.
Yeah, so apparently.
So there's going to be four more movies.
Yeah, in a way.
So you have fast x and then
you're gonna have the rock in his own movie that i believe is in the fast x universe they made they
did come out to say that it's not a hobbs and shaw movie so it's a completely like one-off like
luke hobbs story like his character in the movie so So you're going to have that and then I believe you're getting the Fast X sequel after that
which is where they all come back. And Randy, I know you said like
hey, I think it's too late for me. I have all nine movies and Hobbs and Shaw
on Blu-ray if you want to borrow them and get back into it.
I might, see I feel like I want to do it or I'd be
down to do it. You know what? I just have to get my girlfriend around to it if I can if I can like convince her
to do it I might I might be able to to get into it okay look I'm dropping these movies off at
your place you're gonna watch them with her not it's up to you all right check this out though
spicy nacho came with me she hasn't seen none of the other fast movies and then we get to the end of the movie and she's like
i want to see the other movie so you don't really have to know the entire backstory i mean they kind
of explain a little bit of the backstory in fast x a little bit i don't think you need to go back
and watch all of them i would just for pure enjoyment like eric would right eric oh yeah
of course i'm downloading them right now so i can stream them later it was a big movie week also for me because
we supported the opening of the machine with burt tricher and uh the machine is still in theaters
i don't know if you guys had a chance to see that i know know you've been super busy with NFL stuff, but if you have a chance to watch the machine,
it is freaking hilarious.
I didn't realize like how much action is in this movie.
I thought it would just be a comedy,
but it is a straight up action film from beginning to end.
It's insane and freaking hilarious at the same time.
I mean, now's the time for comedy.
So I'd love to see more comedian-backed films.
But I definitely want to go see the machine.
Yeah, because for the longest time, it was just like DC, Marvel, DC, Marvel, Fast X.
You know, no-
Fast XX.
Fast XX.
No comedy.
And I grew up on comedy films.
That's all I watched as a kid.
I didn't watch scary movies.
I didn't really watch action flicks's all I watched as a kid. I didn't watch scary movies. I didn't
really watch action flicks. All I watched was comedy. And I feel like comedy has been super
dry in the movie theaters for quite a long time. It's definitely like it's been dry,
but I also think it had shifted over to dark comedy specifically for a while.
Because I mean, earlier this year I saw Cocaine Bear, which is definitely, that's more of a dark comedy.
And then I haven't seen this one yet, but I wanted to see Renfield with Nick Cage.
That's supposed to be another dark comedy.
And then Universal's coming out with that dog movie.
I think it's called Strays.
That's supposed to be another dark comedy.
I mean, like, they're funny.
They're just more on, like, the dark humor sense aside.
Whereas something like The Machine is definitely more of, like, a, not necessarily, I mean, yeah, like a lighter comedy.
Obviously not, like, appropriate for kids, but it's definitely a lighter comedy compared to these other movies.
You guys want to get in some food news?
Yes, please.
Oh, hell yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Sorry, I'm using my own button today.
It's not up to par just yet.
All right, food news. Did
you see that Baskin Robbins is coming out with its own Cookie Monster ice cream? Now, I think
this is actually, they're like taking a little bit from After's ice cream because I know After's
ice cream is not available throughout America or throughout the world. After's ice cream is more of
a Los Angeles thing. They are available, I know, in the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas. So they
may have some Nevada locations, maybe in Texas. I don't know. But they have the Cookie Monster
ice cream, which is one of their signature ice creams. And going by the ingredients that Baskin
Robbins has, it looks like it's pretty similar. They're talking about chocolate sandwich cookie pieces chocolate chip cookie pieces with chocolate chip
cookie dough batter swirled in are you all in or all out i'm pretty all in i love me i love me some
cookie do's cookie do cookie dough stuff i'll be honest uh you had my fat ass at chocolate so let's
go yeah speaking of ice cream i polished off a tub of moose tracks probably under two days.
Oh, hell yeah.
Damn.
Oh, yeah, dude.
If you're a young adult listening to this, you also enjoy sweets and fast food.
Peep this big game hack that I learned as a young wee lad.
I used to work at Ben and Jerry's.
And Ben and Jerry's ice cream is usually pretty expensive.
But when you work there, you kind of get a chance to taste every single one of the flavors.
Whether or not that's allowed, that's determined. Somehow.
But through that, when I go to the grocery store, I just know what I want and I get.
I have a tub of Chunky Monkey in the freezer right now. And that's my go-to.
So yeah, I love me some ice cream. uh i'm always down for some chocolate chip and
chocolate cookie dough there you go i said i read this all right um well so you figured out which
flavor you like the most by working there pretty much because dude ice cream is expensive dude the
tubs are like what i had get a job for the company and taste all their if you really want to figure
out your favorite ice cream go work at a ben and jerry's try all the flavors what you can do is i believe ben and jerry's still sells like the mini cups at
the market that are i think like a buck 50 so you can just do that it's basically like a sample of a
larger height or whatever so yeah and you don't have those the application oh also speaking of
which i figured i i should probably mention this Panda Express. I finally
had their orange chicken sandwich
today for lunch. Oh, nice.
I was dropping some packages
off at UPS and it's right next door.
I was like, alright, I'll do it. It took forever
to get my sandwich because
I don't know, they make it fresh, I suppose.
So they had, it took like 15 minutes
to get it, which was a long time.
And it was quite the messy experience but I can report that it was a good sandwich.
Oh, it was fine.
Because I enjoyed it.
That was next on my list to ask anybody if they tried it and you brought it up.
That's awesome.
Oh yeah.
Perfect, man.
I was like, you know what?
This might be a limited time thing.
If I don't get it, I'm probably going to look back one day and be like, oh yeah, I remember
those sandwiches.
I would eat that then.
I can't wait to try it myself.
Now they said it's being released to more and more locations all throughout southern california i don't know about all over the country but i know in southern california
it is readily available apparently you guys want to go to some tech news real quick tech news
yes all right tech news i'm super excited because the Apple event is here, guys.
June 5th.
Apparently, Apple has some mega big nuclear news.
My wife noticed this, that they're actually spending money on ads promoting for people to tune in.
Now, they have not done that in quite a long time.
And for them to do that, they must have something big to share.
People have the theory that they're actually going to release their first goggles or VR headset.
And apparently this VR headset, though, the price will be $3,000.
Oh, yeah.
Pass.
Hard pass.
Now, this all might be true because I don't know if you saw this, but Meta, a.k.a. Facebook, they released their version, updated version of the Quest 3. Now I have the Quest 2.
Now they have the 3, which has a couple upgrades to it, a little bit slimmer,
easier to fit on your face, but that is $500, I believe. So I think they're trying to counteract
the Apple announcement. For three grand, this better be some, I think we've all seen the movie player one right player one i better be submerged
into full alternate reality full body suit feeling everything i'm seeing agreed it can't be grand
dude yeah it can't be like meta i mean the meta stuff is cool i like it but for three thousand
dollars again you're right eric it should be like i'm at coachella you know like i'm in the middle
of the festival and see this the beads of sweat that tyler was sweating when we were at coachella
this headset better make me feel like i'm standing next to him in the crowd again it better be
mind-blowing stuff hopefully they have some ai announcements for plugins to all their applications
but i don't think that's going to happen. I think Apple's
more of a let's wait and see type company. They'll let everybody else perfect it like Adobe. Like
Adobe right now is killing it with all their products. I think maybe in like two more announcements,
Apple will have a big AI announcement, but not right now. I think it's just going to be solely
hardware. Going on to something that I think Randy will be into, because Randy, you love free stuff, right?
Absolutely.
Who doesn't?
If it's free, it's for me.
Now, would you guys be into this?
Would you receive a free 55-inch HD 4K television if it had a dual screen?
Now, on the bottom of the screen, you'll see it looks kind of like a soundbar.
But then under that, under the soundbar is another
screen where it gives you ads there's a company that's doing that it's called telly dual screen
tv now already 250 000 people have signed up to get these free televisions are you all in or all
out to get a free tv if below it they are serving ads like uber eats and things like that that's
something i would sign
up for i wouldn't mind looking at the tv and it reminds me i mean it's it's not horrible like you
definitely see the ads it reminds me of i mean for us like sports fans it's a ticker like it's
but just instead of having all sports scores there's a cut there's like there's a fast x of
all things that are on this picture i'm looking at fast x ad and there's a couple little widgets
you know nba scores looks like a stocks update and then like your weather widget and there's another little ticker underneath so
i mean it's basically just any kind of ticker you would see on a news channel a sports channel or if
you're in a sports book in vegas you know it's like you have just the bar kind of running anything i
mean it doesn't look horrible and if it's a free tv i mean why not get it if you need if you're in
the market for one? Yeah.
Tyler?
Yeah.
I actually just pulled it up to see what it looks like.
This is not as big as I thought it was going to be as far as like the ad section goes.
Yeah, I'd totally do it.
I think my thinking was is that it was going to be kind of not necessarily like a half and half, but maybe like a 60-40 type thing.
Now, this looks like it's definitely more like 75, 25.
I can work with that.
That's fine.
Oh,
this is cool.
Yeah.
Like if I was a college student,
I'll be all over this.
Now,
you know,
of course this company is pretty genius because they're figuring out like,
okay,
more and more streaming companies are happening that have no ads.
So like,
how are we going to serve ads to people?
And here's a great way to do it.
I mean,
at least for young people,
like,
Hey,
I'm going to get a free 55 inch TV.
I'm all over it.
So yeah,
dude,
I would sign up for it.
I'd make another email and then sign up for two.
You know,
like young,
like that was the thing we had.
I lived in a fraternity house at Cal state Northridge.
So we had,
you know,
eight people living in our house at any given time sometimes a couple more yeah dude we could
everybody sign up you get at least five new tvs one in every room and you have like a gaming wall
or something i'm sure it's a matter of time before somebody learns how to hack them or something and
you can totally really link these up or you can really customize some of that ad area but yeah
dude honestly that's not the TV itself isn't ugly.
The ad space is kind of minimal based on what looks like the widget area you can update.
So it's like you're getting an extra screen.
You're getting about, I'd say, 80% of extra screen with about 20% of that extra screen being ad space.
Yeah.
Young Randy is currently signing up.
I'm actually looking for the uh website to
sign up because i think i'll be yeah this google telly t-e-l-l-y dual screen tv i'm sure it's a
matter of time before this pop stuff on tiktok too and becomes sort of like remember when popeyes
dropped their chicken sandwich yeah and everybody yeah everybody just did the advertising for them
i'm sure this will this this feels like something that'll catch that wave,
and then people will just sign up.
And then, I mean, how do these advertising companies not glom onto this?
It's like, yo, we can just run these ads nonstop all the time.
People think, oh, we just do radio, and oh, we just work for the NFL.
Everything we do is so people will tune in to see ads at the end of the day.
That's all that matters.
So you think these ads are coming through the TV company?
They have a sales team that will be like, hey, we have, let's say, 250,000 people that are definitely going to see this ad for sure.
How much would you buy this for?
This is going to be a thing for sure.
Because, yeah, then you don't even have to outsource your ads.
It's all directly to you.
You don't have to divvy up any of that money coming in.
Oh, dude.
It's all right into your pocket.
And to complete the registration for the TV,
you have to download the app.
Yeah.
They've got this all figured out.
I'm downloading the app.
I am doing it right now.
Nice.
All right.
Well, guys, not to cut this short,
we really wanted to put out a podcast for you
and unfortunately,
Brett couldn't join us today because he had a sink replacement thing and then a pipe broke.
And I don't know. He has a lot of issues.

Now, I just want to thank Tyler.
I want to thank Eric.
And I want to thank Randy so much
for being on the pod today.
We're actually recording really late in the day.
And this is their day off, guys.
So I really appreciate you doing this podcast with me
because I know that you don't
get a lot of time off and to spend most of your day with me trying to do this podcast i really
appreciate it oh man it's fun having a chat with the boys thank you my friends anytime yeah and at
this point i got to hear randy's cat oh yeah very nice wherever she is also shout out i might grab
one of the other cats eric's Blankets by Tracy's yard
is full of them. Yeah, my mom,
so here's a little backstory. My mom,
my dad has this old Suburban that it's
really old, been trying
to restore forever. So it has windows,
it's gutted, basically a shell. All the
parts are in the garage. And my mom
was going into it and looking
around on her backyard, and
she found a litter of kittens
that were born i don't know if they were born but because these cats are already like older
like these little kittens are like they're jumping around playing and stuff but they were like
they're like housed by the mom cat in my dad's old suburban so my mom's trying to get rid of them i
think randy might hook us up with a cat rescue but yeah so they my mom set up a blink uh home security camera uh-huh in the truck so we keep getting notifications to our
family account and it's just like videos of these little cats playing around in the suburban it's
it's actually been one of the highlights of the last couple weeks for me just like i just turn
on the camera and just check in on these little kittens every now and then that reminds me in the
group chat you were digging in the backyard and you found like cell phones and stuff well yeah again my mom she goes to cleaning spurts and
cleaning spurts are basically like pull stuff out of sheds in the backyard so things that fall off
tables and grass grows over them so when i go and cut grass sometimes or do some yard work i'll find
things that are like literally grown into the ground. And I found an old, um,
it was like,
I think it was a Motorola droid,
the slide up ones,
like the ones that were basically like the old sidekicks.
And,
um,
and then I found,
um,
an old DVD copy of Starsky and Hutch.
Nice.
Literally like buried into the dirt of my backyard.
Oh my God.
We got to see if that movie still plays.
That'd be awesome.
Give it to Tyler since he loves to watch so many movies. sure it's true let's go with randy you have anything to say before you
leave um geez uh list uh uh no i got nothing i got nothing today all right tyler uh i completely
blanked i was gonna say because i was so shocked shocked that Randy had nothing. I think other than that, I got into reading a little bit, which is kind of funny.
Yeah.
So I literally got paid this morning.
I was telling Menace this right before the podcast.
I literally got paid this morning.
And the first thing I went to do was I had to put gas in my car.
And then from there, I went straight to Barnes & Noble because there was a book I'd been wanting to get.
And I only meant to get one.
And I walked out with
three so not sure how that worked out but here we are no one gives Barnes & Noble enough credit
like I understand like I get it the idea of a bookstore sounds maybe kind of lame if you're
not into it but Barnes & Noble has not only books and like games and puzzles they have like
Legos they have cool magazines that you normally can't find locally sourced.
Barnes & Noble is a really cool hang.
Yeah, I go to Barnes & Noble quite frequently.
Yeah, the only thing is I wish there was one closer to where I am.
When I lived back in Burbank, there was one like five minutes away.
But actually, I am kind of glad that Tyler mentioned reading because I also have been reading.
I was telling Eric about it the other day.
I just have gone into the habit of I read a chapter in the morning or 10
pages before I go to bed.
And, you know, over the course of a week or two, you add some damage.
I will say this, though, Tyler, because you went to Barnes & Noble.
I like Barnes & Noble.
That being said, brand new books can be expensive.
I've found that buying books off of eBay actually tend to be the cheapest because people just
throw them on there for, like to $4. Like I got, I bought a book the other day that at the store is
15 bucks and I got it for six. So with free shipping. Okay. Yeah. Okay. That's, that's
something to look at. That's interesting. Now, Eric, me just thinking about Randy speaking right
now. Now, do you think Randy's flipping books or is he reading books? Or he tried to do it.
He tried to do the flip game once.
Yeah, he tried to get me into this.
I think the flipping might have catapulted him to actually enjoying reading
because he got stuck with some of these books, I think, at one time.
Yeah, all right.
You son of a bitch.
Yeah, that is pretty huge.
Okay, I made like 500 bucks off of selling books.
And then after that, I was kind of having some trouble going to
thrift stores and finding decent books to
flip. So then I would go and I was like, well, I made the effort to come
here. I might as well get something. Might as well open one of these and see what's
inside. Yeah. I've been into reading a little bit.
It's just more so, like, forcing myself
because I always find cool books
and then I'm like, well, I'll read this
and then I never do.
So now I'm trying to force myself
to make it a habit to read these things.
Yeah, so, I mean, like Randy mentioned
just a minute ago,
like, obviously, like, I'm really into movies.
Like, my whole family is.
And then you kind of realize that, like,
oh, yeah, a bunch of these movies,
like, maybe at least 50% of the hollywood were all based off on books and most
people will claim that the source material is way better than what the movie turned out to be so in
this case that's one of the books i grabbed because me and my brother were randomly watching
world war z for some reason like a couple weeks ago and i suddenly remembered that my best friend
when we were like in high school he read the book and he's like, it's really good. You should
take a look at it. And I'm like, you know what? Maybe that's the book I'll end up going to buy,
uh, which is World War Z by Max Brooks. So that's the one I went for. And then I got his other book
that's also based on zombies. And then a little book about Kobe that I thought was kind of cool.
But anyways, um, so I'm reading that right now,
and I think the next book I end up reading is because I think most people know this,
but for those who don't, Jurassic Park is based on a book.
I actually read it by Michael Crichton.
Yeah, by Michael Crichton, yeah.
Yeah, you want to buy it?
Yeah, you want to buy it?
It's a good price.
No, but I was going to say this too, and this is going this too don't feel like I'm attacking you Tyler
or making you feel dumb in any way
but for books that are that big
and I've been around for that long
dog just go to the library
yeah you know what
that's what my mom would tell me
so well my mom said like
you know you can go to the library or
and I cannot remember the name of it
right now
but apparently there's this app that basically links all your local libraries and their electronic
books that you can download to the app and you can rent on your phone for like uh or i guess not
rent but check out on your phone for about three weeks at a time so it's basically like a library
on your phone so i thought about doing that.
But I don't know.
I think for whatever reason, when it comes to like just media in general, whether it's like movies, books, or, you know, like I guess some forms of music, I like to have my own copy.
I don't know.
I'm just kind of weird.
Was it Hoopla?
Is it Hoopla?
That's the name of it.
Yeah.
Thank you.
It's called Hoopla.
Yeah.
I've been in this game, dude.
It's funny listening to you guys talk like you literally just discovered reading.
I know.
Well, I was going to make that point. I'm saying that just, you just like, yeah, you know, I've learned that there's like literature out there that is in my like.
Is in my wheelhouse, man.
Yeah.
I was going to make that point next that like look at us at the ages of the ripe green ages
of 26 and 30
discovering the library of all places
and it's so dumb because
like the book that got me all started
with it and I know I mentioned I think the last time I did
was that freezing cold takes NFL
book I ended up when I read it
I think I ended up finishing it in like
less than a week and it was just
really good and then all of a sudden I'm like why do i have an itch to read just a couple more books and whatever
and then i don't know man it's it's kind of weird i just i guess i just got into reading
later in life and it's kind of cool because when you really think about it each book you read is
just a different combination of the alphabet because they have all 26 letters in there so
yeah hey i i admit
i i gave i gave tyler i gave tyler crab because i was like you only read because your power went out
and then my power went out and i read 156 pages out of a book and i've been reading ever since
then so maybe all we need is eric's power to go out and then maybe he'll read or something i don't
know now this will really blow your mind guys caroline Caroline, who took over Eric's job at the Woody Show, she carries around a thing called a Kindle, where it is a digital version of books.
Oh, my God.
Oh, I got one of those, too.
Welcome to 20-
Yeah.
I have a Raising Cane's pop socket on the back of it.
That's what I'm doing.
Whenever I see a cool free book, I just download it off.
I mean, like i've known
about the kindle because my mom has one but again it's it's one of those things where like i said
i'm kind of weird i i like to have my own physical copy i don't know what it is because that's the
same thing with movies like yeah my uh my brother told me you know years ago he's like you know you
just get digital copies of all your movies on voodoo right and i'm like yeah dude but i just
like having the physical copy.
I don't know what it is, man.
Tyler's still going out and buying paperbacks of pornos.
That's true.
Look, man.
I'd like to have my own copy.
I am the sole person keeping CDs on the shelf in your local Barnes & Noble, okay?
Oh, I don't know any details on this uh tyler so you're gonna have
to google it but apparently a lot of movie stars got together and they helped save some movie rental
company and now the store is back up and running and you can rent like 30 000 different movie
titles like physically like dvds and vhs's and stuff like that. I'm definitely going to have to look that up because I have not heard about that.
I think...
While we're on the...
Okay, if it's near me,
I'll definitely check it out.
But what's to say,
now that we're still talking about media
and everything,
I have finished my telly registration
and I expect my free TV very soon.
Awesome.
I may have finished mine too.
All right, we'll do that.
Eric, one last thing before we go? Oh, nothing. Cycling back to you guys, people recognizing you guys out. I mean, finish mine too. All right. We'll do that. Eric, one last thing before we go?
Oh, nothing.
Cycling back to you guys, people recognizing you guys out.
I mean, yeah.
Appreciative to all the people listening to us.
Yes, thank you.
Talk about books and crap.
I know, right?
Random ass tangent at the end.
People actually listen to this podcast, guys.
I'm telling you.
I hear about it all the time.
So it's pretty cool.
Thank you so much.
One more thing.
Yeah.
Thank you, Eric, for speaking about thanking people yes yes um thank you so much to tony at your cheating heart
oh yeah hermosa uh he's the uh here's the piercer at the tattoo shop it's called your cheating heart
and hermosa he made me some custom ghostbusters uh slip-ons that read that like really look really
cool under blacklight he's had these for like a year and a half and he's just been waiting for the right opportunity to give them to me
and it just so happened to coincide that the place we're at was like three literally three
buildings away so thank you so much for that that's awesome yeah he hooked me up with some
plugs too so oh that's yeah no i've i've actually met tony at his. He is a chill AF dude.
Really nice guy.
That's awesome.
People who listen are awesome.
He's the best.
Yeah.
Your co-worker's like, what is happening?
We slipped away at just the right time.
We'd set up.
They took a lunch.
And then we went over and had a chat with them while they were eating.
Yeah.
To show how much we love this guy, we actually missed out on free lunch, but we made a friendship
that'll last a lifetime.
Little caveat there.
We did not know it was going to be comped like it was.
Yeah.
We did not know.
That's why we dipped out when we did for this lunch.
Real quick, before I forget, if anybody has any book recommendations, please let me know.
Okay.
At Heavy T on air on Instagram.
Yeah.
And you know, I'll tell you what, throw Randy some recommendations too since he's back into readings yeah sure please
by all means do it i have it well i have a good reads app where i just like i find a book and i
add it on there you should get one tyler's pretty it's it's pretty chill pretty swag i'll i'll look
into that um one one last book thing. One other genre.
I know he does. One other genre I've really gotten into is alternate
history stuff. If anybody knows any good alternate
history books. This is our group chat.
The one with just the three of us, dude.
I look away for
an hour and it's like 45 messages
of crap I just could care less about.
I do not care about what you guys are talking about.
But when we get him,
when we get Eric in we get eric in these
group messages he goes he goes uh he goes hog wild oh yeah that's true it's true tyler i'll
text something in like seven in the morning on a saturday about like north to new york
reference or something about buffalo and eric will be like yeah man it's pretty awesome it's
it's rather rad and the conversation you know the conversation will go well but every time
like clockwork,
Tyler will send one text too many, and then Eric's like, all right, I'm out.
I'm working on it.
Slowly, I like to think slowly getting better, but we're working on it.
It's working.
You know when to hold them.
Two more things I forgot to say.
I'm going to walk away.
Two more things I forgot to say.
Thank you to the Wynn Las Vegas, who always takes care of us.
Hopefully in July we'll be recording some more podcasts there.
Also don't forget.
I'm just giving you a heads up.
Big birthday bash happening October 6th at Morongo casino.
All right.
Now I'm going to ask you here.
You tell me,
what do you think?
I'm thinking of taking most of the budget of the party and this buying a bunch of stuff to give away instead of spending all it
on the artist and i got a pretty good budget i'm talking like in the thousands should i take that
money and just buy like a bunch of tvs a bunch of nintendo switches or should i get an artist
what do you think that'll fill the room people love free yeah dude yeah hell yeah menace palooza
can just be like this year for i'm doing menace Palooza and where I'm giving you a gift for coming to my
party or.
You know,
you know,
it was actually one really cool thing we did at the party.
I think it was the only year I went cause I,
I missed the rest cause I moved to Texas,
but we had the money machine,
right?
Like you go in and yeah,
that was pretty dope dude.
So,
but I think a gift thing would be pretty cool too.
Yeah.
I think,
I think a gift thing is way cooler than a money machine though, because I feel like
no one really does that.
It's sort of just like, hey, you can come and maybe we'll pick your ticket or whatever
and you can come in.
But if you have lots of cool things to give away, everyone's going to be real pumped up
because it's going to start, you know, I want this or I want that.
So I think the idea is great.
Honestly, I have plenty of money to get a ton of stuff to give away because you think
about it.
When you get an artist, you got to pay that artist a bunch of money.
You got to pay their people a bunch of money.
Then you got to pay for the whole production of them being there.
And I could be buying a lot of Nintendo Switches for that money.
I'm just thinking like already, like Switches would be cool.
Like a couple of new TVs.
I mean, if you raffled off like one brand new PS5, one brand new Xbox, I don't know,
like Disney tickets or whatever, food, gift cards like that.
That'd be a lot of fun.
And another giveaway, since we're talking about animals, what about tickets to the San
Diego Zoo?
Something like that.
Heck yeah.
Tyler really wants to go to the San Diego Zoo.
I think-
Yeah.
You know what?
Oh, you know, I'm not going to lie.
I haven't been to the San Diego Zoo since I think I was like five.
I want to go, man.
I'll give you another one, Tyler.
I've never been to the San Diego Zoo,
and I would love to go.
I've gone to the Safari portion,
but I have not gone to the actual zoo itself.
So I would love to go.
I have not done either.
Why are we still here?
I guess we need to plan a San Diego trip as well.
I don't know.
I told you earlier about how my FOMO,
or what I want to do with the Safari caravan stuff.
I did a Valentine's Day trip with
Leanne back when we were dating in college and they took me out onto the caravan like into the exhibits fed drafts rhinos all this
Crap and so on Safari Park. We haven't talked dude. You're leaving to Hawaii, too
Yeah, yeah, I think I'll be around for next week's episode
But yeah, the ten days have a countdown on my, my calendar. Hawaii fruit. How awesome is that?
You can be out there with dolphins, right?
Yeah.
I'm hoping, trying to touch something.
Oh my God.
Make out with a dolphin.
Well, this has been the longest goodbye ever.
Yeah, definitely.
We've already planned a San Diego trip.
I actually wanted to reach out to you guys to see if you wanted to do, and I know we're
planning on maybe going to Vegas the weekend after, but the weekend before, Akershire Arena,
again, the Coachella Valley, they're going to pair more, guys, on a Saturday.
Oh, stop.
The end has tickets already, so I will be there.
So if you guys want to be in the neighborhood.
Wait, in Akershire?
Yeah, the one in Palm Springs.
That's the spot, right?
Yeah.
Where do you guys plan on staying I don't know my family might make the trip um so we might have a family Airbnb but um
I don't know okay well they don't make it and you just want to crash with me yeah no for sure
definitely I'll let you know because yeah we might turn that into like my mom's itching to get out of
the house yeah I might turn that into like a hey we go rent it for the weekend go to the concert
then leave kind of thing all right yeah if that feels okay now tyler randy what do you think i'd be totally down like you don't
have to ask me twice well yeah i was just thinking of maybe just getting like if i couldn't get
hooked up which you know i probably can't just getting like a cheap ticket because there's no
bad seats in that arena no it's a lot i wonder how the layout would be because uh when reset for
the game there's that giant mega screen.
I wonder if they would use that to show
the band and stuff.
That would be like the open end of a
horseshoe kind of setup for consoles.
I'm assuming, though, they would
do it in the round, right? So they could sell
more tickets. I mean, I went there for Dave Chappelle
and Chris Rock, and it was in the round.
True, yeah. I guess they just removed the ice.
Why would you take out seats?
Yeah, that does make sense.
That does make sense.
Yeah, shut up, Tyler.
I didn't do my seat.
Who do you beat?
All right, guys.
Well, I'll let you go and have your fun on your day off.

And I really want to see Eric's Hawaii
photos, so he better be posting.
Oh, dude, I believe it. That's the only reason I'm
going to have my phone is to make people jealous
of what I'm doing. Everything else, all my other apps,
I might just delete them. I might just delete them, to be honest.
Do it. Work, emails, everything. Not to make this even longer, but you are going to the
big Island, which I've always been fascinated by the big Island. I know nothing about it. Only this
one place, which I will not give away that I know about. And I shared it with you and you're like,
that's where I'm staying. I'm like, I'll rip because I hear so many good things about this
place that you're staying at. Yeah, yeah.
It's the resort we're staying at.
It's supposed to be pretty nice.
Yeah.
And that's all I've ever heard about the Big Island.
And when I go to Honolulu, I ask people like, hey, what's going on over at the Big Island?
If I ever went there, where would I go?
What would I do?
And so many people that are from Honolulu, they're like, I've never been over there.
I'm like, that's crazy.
Yeah.
I might not come back.
I might miss my flight on purpose.
It's all good.
You can do this from the beach.
It's fine.
All right, guys.
Well, we'll check you out next week.
