What's new? What's new with Menace.
What's Up, everybody, and welcome to another edition of What's New Pod.
I am Menace.
I'm joined by Borgh, a.k.
Brett.
He's an audio expert and syndication expert with the Woody Show morning show that you can hear across
the United States and around the world on the Woody Show podcast.
We are not joined by Randy, Julianne, or Eric today.
We'll get to that in a moment.
But we are joined in studio once again by Tyler, aka Heavy Tea, in the building.
Real quick.
What's up with the vibes?
Tyler, dude, your vibes this morning.
Not feeling him, man.
Oh, my God, dude.
Not feeling the Tyler vibes.
Okay.
He was so quiet to me all morning.
He's like, one of those guys that kind of like knows something, but he doesn't want
to tell you kind of vibes.
Oh.
You know something, Tyler that you don't want to share with me?
Okay, first off, do not take this out of context.
I don't know anything.
Oh, he's smiling already.
He's smiling.
That's the bad side.
Dude, every time this guy has come in this morning, not his fault.
But every time this guy's come in this morning, I've been locked in on writing up something or working on something. And I'm like, oh, my bad. I'm just kind of focusing her now. Keep in mind. I'm very happy for your job. I'm very happy for the writing you do and all the contributions you make to the show.
Appreciate that. Keep in mind. I'm editing the show and doing a lot of audio work with people talking to me. And I still take the time to pause and make sure I react to the person accordingly if it's a important person. If it's Woody, if it's.
If it's menace, if it's somebody like that, I'm giving them my full attention for a second.
I'm just saying that Tyler's keeping secrets and we'll find out with you are.
We reveal themselves very soon.
Oh, no, no, no.
Oh, yeah, he is.
Yeah.
Real quick, though, this Saturday, it's going down finally.
Addison, Texas, are you listening, Texas?
August 22nd this Saturday, noon to 2 p.m.
I'm going to be at Lazy Dog Restaurant, hanging out with all.
y'all so come by say hello
and let's uh let's do
some things together i'll have a couple giveaways
some good stuff to give away
some things actually i don't give away
in los angeles because i'll be in
Texas so be ready
for that you're going to want to stop by and at least
say hello uh real quick
julian's not here she's been on her
bender of partying
for her birthday i don't know
where was she just recently oh she
left me that voicemail that i posted on what's new
pod saying that she was in india but i
think she was in Indio, actually.
Yeah, she was in Indio.
I think they rented an Airbnb house with a bunch of friends.
It's her usual crew that she ends up drunk in a garage with all night.
And then she'll end up FaceTiming people later.
Yes, exactly.
I was one of those people that she was trying to FaceTime.
But jokes on her, do not disturb after 8 p.m. on my phone.
I've noticed that.
Not going to lie.
Yeah.
Not going to work with me.
Eric.
Now, Eric.
does Eric just have new friends now?
Eric doesn't exist anymore.
We are dead to him.
I love Eric, but then, you know, we're like, oh, we would get new opportunities to hang out with Eric on the offseason of football.
Well, football is already back.
I feel like, you know what?
Now that he has become a dad, he's like, I just hang out with other dads now, guys.
You know what?
You're dead to me.
You know what?
Because I do have friends like that.
But I don't know if it's one of them.
I've noticed one thing.
It's been going to a lot of weddings.
I was actually going to bring that up.
I had a conversation with him the other day.
So I've seen Eric recently, besides his son's birthday, which we all went to, right?
And I did talk to him last week.
He was en route to another wedding.
And I said, damn, dude, this is like a 100th wedding this year.
Are you done yet?
No.
He has another one to do still.
Yeah, he's definitely at that age where all your friends get married.
And then right after everybody starts having kids.
He's going to be in that cycle probably for the,
the next five, no, five, six years.
We'll see him on the other side.
I hope not.
But I did see him recently and he was in full dad mode.
Like I stopped by to see Randy and him and this is the extent of our hangout.
I got Randy to come outside.
I got Eric to come outside.
But Eric has the baby on video cam at all times.
Oh, wow.
And he's like, hey, if something happens, I got to go.
So he's just in dad mode.
It's funny because I've seen him run upstairs and then he turns back in waves like he's the
Pope.
Like just sitting high up on the perch of the Vatican.
It's like, hello.
Yeah, I got that.
I got that wave.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, let's recap some fun stuff.
Now, you guys got to do some fun things.
The last weekend, I didn't get to go.
We'll get more into that because of an injury with spicy nacho.
But we won't spoil the talk with that just yet.
You guys got to go.
And I was supposed to go.
But I didn't.
D23.
Yeah.
People don't know what D23 is.
It is Disney's pretty much Comic-Con convention.
Oh, yeah.
Everything Disney.
And the things that I wanted to see were everything F1, obviously,
because they have a collaboration,
which they announced at D-23 that they're extending the collaboration.
I want to see Cotino updates.
Now, if you don't know what Cotino is,
that is the community that they're building in the Coachella Valley,
Rancho Mirage.
They have this.
massive huge lagoon and a private club just like club 33 called the artisan which i got to go into
it's pretty rad and then uh the last thing the cruises now they're launching a new cruise ship next year
those are the things that i wanted to see but you guys have boots on the ground what did you
get to see and what were you excited about i mean the top thing that i'm always excited about
underneath the disney umbrella is star world yeah and they have
had a few announcements come out
over the weekend, but to be
boots on the ground there, I
was so impressed with Lucas
Films installation at
D23. Now, every
single thing under their umbrella, whether it's
20th century Fox, whether it's Lucasfilm,
Marvel, any of that, they have their own installations.
F1 had their own installation.
You know, toys, all these different things, have their
own setups. You go check out what they
got going on for this coming year, and usually they
have something you can take a photo with, right?
Lucasfilm had the best
They had a mini stage
So they had panels going on
Just for Lucasfilm over the weekend
They had statues of
Rota the Hut
From the Mandalorian movie
They had props from the Mandalorian movie
And they had costumes and props
For Assoca Season 2 coming out
Everything was freaking dope
I was so excited to take pose with everything
But then the announcement
Assoc season 2 is coming in January
We got Mall Shadow Lord coming next year early
Star Wars Starfighter
I don't know if you saw that announcement
with Ryan Gosling.
Huge.
Very cool.
Just everything was awesome there.
I was very excited to be a part
and immersed in nothing but Star Wars
and Lucasfilm.
Now the two popular social media posts
from what you guys posted
was number one,
you bought Walking Backwards
in the Simpsons rush
that was like Homer Simpson.
And then the other post
was Tyler meeting his dad.
Yes.
Oh my God.
Okay.
So first of all, the Simpsons installation was nothing but photo like cardboard cuts he could take photos with in this long strip of just greenery.
We're like, what is this?
That one was funny because I look at it and I'm like, okay, obviously I know this is the shrub from the meme.
So I'm looking at it.
I'm like, okay, that's kind of cool.
And then I see someone pop out from behind it and I was like, no way.
Can you really?
And I feel it.
And there's an empty spot right there for you to just do the meme.
No, I just back in.
So it's like, all right, Tyler.
Come over here quick, do this.
We're going to do what angle.
Okay, this angle.
Dude, we're at 10,000 views and growing, which is amazing.
But the Tyler meeting his dad.
So I really want to bring this up because this is for people that love Star Wars,
people that love listening to this podcast and listen to the Woody Show all these years.
The Mandalorian and Groo is coming out on streaming September 2nd.
There is a character in it.
His name is Rhoda the Hut.
This is Jabba the Hut's son.
Okay.
He is ripped.
He has a freaking 12-pack.
He's holding ass.
He's everything that Tyler probably wants to be or his dad to be.
Oh, I don't know that.
But I want everybody to watch this movie.
Because when you're watching the movie,
you did tell me this.
Tell me if I'm lying or not.
Don't look at him.
Just listen to him.
His cadence and his speech is exactly the same as Randy's.
So me and my wife have nicknamed him Randy the Hut.
It is the ripped guy?
I swear to God.
Is Randy the Hut?
Tyler, what was your photo you were trying to get?
So this was a whole thing.
So Brett's big thing is Star Wars.
Anyone who knows me knows that my big thing is sports, right?
Disney owns ESPN.
So there were two things I wanted to check out.
The first one, they had a nice little panel on how they've been incorporating, like, all the Pixar, the Simpson stuff into sports.
So like when they did like those Pixar football games.
The Toy Story.
Yeah.
They did the Simpson football game.
They were showing us like how they did that, how it came to beat.
That was really cool to sit.
on and then it was there.
I got to take a picture with a freaking Super Bowl trophy.
Nice.
And this thing rolled.
I'm staring at it and I'm like, this is the closest me or the Falcons will ever be
to everyone do this damn thing.
But like, I'm just, dude, this is so.
You never been around the Lombardi trophy?
No.
So that is the second trophy I've been around of the four major sports.
I've done the Larry O'Brien, which is basketball.
This is the first time seeing the Lombardi up close.
And I mean, this thing was like six inches from me.
It was so cool.
I really wanted to touch it, but they were kind of watching me in.
I'm like, I don't want to do it.
Yeah, I feel like I'm always around it for some reason.
They do bring trophies by here.
I know it's been here.
Well, TCL has that partnership with the NFL, so I've been around it a couple of times of that.
And then, honestly, I would expect for you to see it at least a couple more times this year because the Super Bowl is in L.A. this year.
Okay.
Which is the whole reason why the trophy was there in the first place.
Well, they had won one of the trophies at the Coliseum, too, on display.
You could go and see it any time.
Yeah, but to be like no.
separation.
Right.
There's no glass.
There's no.
If I really wanted to, I could have picked it up.
I would have got kicked out, but I could have picked it.
Yeah, we saw the Raiders ones when we were.
That's true.
We did.
Oh, yeah.
But those were like glassed and glass.
So that was cool.
It could have knocked it over like Tyler would.
I've never done that.
There have been people who have done that, but I've never done it.
So Tyler and I were in a race.
So he went towards the Lombardi trophy.
And at the same time, I'm like, hey, I got to go do a photo off.
It's very important.
I didn't know it was here.
Tyler's in line to get a photo with the Lombardi.
I'm in line to get a photo of bingo and bluey from the bluey show.
Nice.
That was great.
Honestly,
it was a magical.
And if you had to take a guess, which line was longer, Menace?
Who won out of the two of us?
Dude, Bluey probably had a way bigger line.
Bluey did have a bigger line.
Yeah, dude.
I waited an hour to take a photo.
50 minutes.
So I think I beat him by 10 minutes.
Yeah, like the bluey line the years before was crazy.
Like anything bluey.
So yeah, I get it.
Bluey's massive.
It was so worth it.
And it was exciting to see
they also announced a movie
for Bluey as well.
So that was cool.
Their installation was huge.
So many cool things.
Damn.
Well, they also announced
that they are doing
D23,
Singapore.
Yeah.
In June of 2027,
and that's where I'll make up
my missing of D23.
I can't wait to see
what you see there, man.
And it just happens to align with a lot of things.
So I'm very excited for that because Singapore is like on my bucket list of the countries that I still want to visit.
Singapore and South Korea.
And then pretty much after that, it's just all bonus.
Like I don't really have any other bucket list countries that I want to go visit.
Singapore is dope, man.
Like everything, every photo of every cool thing comes out of Singapore.
Like I don't know what it is.
Like they opened a new Pokemon center over there.
Oh, really?
It's massive.
Didn't hear about that?
It's huge.
Yeah, just the airport alone gets a lot of shoutouts.
Look up Singapore airport.
They're the ones that have the waterfall in the center of the airport.
It's really, really cool.
Also, a giant Transformer store.
Yeah.
So I missed it because Nacho injured herself.
Yes.
She fell over when she was at Outside Lands Music Festival after she left.
And she was in San Francisco.
So it's been a big or.
deal. But I want to share something that's actually really cool. So we took her to go get an MRI
in Riverside, California, because they have a special stand-up MRI machine there. And before we went to
that, dude, we went to this kick-ass barbecue spot. Yeah. Dude, I posted it. There's a lot of
locations, actually. So we went to the one in Riverside, but they have one in Covina, Norco, and
San Bernardino. It's called the Spirit of Texas. And I'm telling you, the best
Texas barbecue I've had in California at the spot right here. So go look that up. But anyways,
this is the cool part that I want to share that we did the MRI and a lot of these places
when you go get an MRI scan are very old school and they give you a CD with all your files on
it. Right. Yeah. So I mean, what do you do with it? You don't have a CD player or anything. So I went to
Best Buy and I got a little CD ROM which was like 35 bucks made by LG. That's dope. And we plug it in.
And now that it's 2026, we're able to put it into AI.
And AI is able to analyze all the files and tell you how bad it is before you're able to even talk to your doctor.
Because it was going to be three days before we could talk to the doctor, didn't want to like wait around.
And it just gave you full breakdowns.
And you can interact with it like a chat room and ask it questions like, oh, what's the recovery time on this?
How bad do you think it is?
And I mean, of course, the AI was like, hey, you know, the first.
final word is from your doctor, but this is what I think. Dude, it was so cool. It's like talking to
a doctor endlessly because when you're talking to a doctor and you're at a doctor's office,
yeah, you can ask a lot of questions, but you might get questions later or you might just not
have enough time to ask all the questions that you want. Dude, super cool. Shout out to technology.
Bad ass. Okay, but one question. How bad was the injury? Now, it was
It wasn't horrific.
Okay, that's good.
Which is good.
But still need a full analysis on...
I'm assuming this means she didn't tear it.
Yeah, they couldn't give a final answer on what we read.
So we're going to see from what the doctor says on that.
Who needs AI?
We got Dr. Tyler here.
Yeah, Tyler.
Give me the scams.
I'll look at them with the naked eye, bro.
Unfortunately, I've had a number of knee injuries.
Yeah.
I was younger and that is.
sucks.
Yeah, totally sucks.
I have questions, but not for this podcast.
Hold on later time.
He was also a manager of a Little League team,
so I'm sure he dealt with sports injuries all the time.
That brings up way more comments.
I'm not doing it on this podcast.
All right.
Looking forward, since we talked about a lot of movies,
I was trying to see if there was anything interesting
coming out this weekend.
The only thing that's still out is that the end of Oak Street.
Now, have you seen it yet, Tyler?
I know you haven't had time.
You've been really busy, man.
Yeah, I have.
have not.
Has dinosaurs.
You love dinosaurs.
I know,
I know.
I'm going to try my best to see it tomorrow, if not tomorrow, then the following day.
It gets really good reviews.
That's, dude, uh, Jeff G.
saw it.
He said that it was really good.
So I'm like, okay, you know what?
I'll go check it out.
Okay.
So I looked forward.
I'm like, okay, when are we going to start getting some other good movies?
You have the coyote versus Acme.
That comes out August, uh, August 28th.
Then there's a small film called Idiot.
With James Franco, it's about two rock bottom delivery drivers that are transporting a wealthy team that needs to go to rehab.
And then a simple job turns into chaos called idiots.
It might be interesting to look into.
And then September, kind of boring until you get to Godzilla minus zero.
Which before I forget, Godzilla Hello Kitty collab drops at McDonald's today.
Now, Woody was bringing that up.
Is that in collaboration with the movie?
I think it is a random collaboration.
I have to double check.
I think that's just with the Godzilla brand overall.
It's not with the Godzilla minus zero movie.
It's just with the Godzilla.
Because weren't they just doing this with the Dodgers as well?
Was it Hello Kitty and Godzilla?
Well, no, no.
So the Dodgers always do a Hello Kitty collab,
but they're also doing a Godzilla collab also in September.
I think that one is specifically a tie-in-
That one's with the movie, yes.
Okay.
I think that Hello Kitty is doing a lot of cross promotions with McDonald's overall right now, right?
How they did the Ninja Turtles one.
It was the Ninja Turtle's Hello Kitty.
But it wasn't with anything specific Ninja Turtles.
It was just Ninja Turtle is the overall brand idea.
Now, the timing could be, hey, it's kind of close to the movie.
Let's do something like this anyways.
But I think this is just a new mystery box kind of figure grab kind of a thing.
You know, I'm not going to lie.
I'm not super big into happy meal toys because I'm a grown-ass adult.
But what?
Whoa.
But, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but.
But I will admit, these actually look pretty cool.
These look really cool.
What do you mean a grown-ass adult?
You have Jurassic Park, toys, Legos, and Tech Necks.
Let me be my own man.
Stop being a douche and saying things are for kids.
Let me be my own man.
Stop being a douche.
Don't, don't be that person.
The guy that, you know, whatever.
We can, we can, we can, we can,
list a lot of things. I hate when he tries to sound tough and stuff like that. Come on. I do have one question. Does
anybody know if the new Godzilla's coming on IMAX? It has to, right? Because I'd be pretty
sick. There's no way that is not. Godzilla minus one was pretty damn sick. I will look. I will
also defend Julianne, who is the biggest McDonald's toy fan here. That's true. Don't be smirk her name.
Also, I would like to notice that somehow, like I said, this collab drops today. A day or two
podcast comes out today.
That's true.
A day or two before,
there have already been pictures from scalpers saying like,
oh,
they have the toys already.
The McDonald's ones?
Yes.
And guess who sent that picture?
Who?
Oh, the number one.
Flipper.
Flipper Jesus himself.
Flipper Jesus.
Oh, you?
Randy.
I actually put you in Flipper Jesus on a little quest
because I saw Tops.
They posted that they have tops.
Jenny Chrome cards coming out
and I put it in the group chat
and I said Tyler
Randy you know what to do
and then Tyler goes
I don't know who this is
it's Jenny from Black Pink
Okay well here's the other thing
I said I don't know who this is
so I clicked on the link
to try and figure out who it was
and the link had mysteriously disappeared
somebody's getting fired
Yeah because someone from Tom's posted
a little too early
But still man you don't know
like it's Black Pink
I think.
Okay.
That means nothing to me.
It goes over my head.
Okay.
By the way, Godzilla and Mizarro will be an IMAX on November 6th.
Nice.
Do you like Tame Impala, Tyler?
They're all right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like I like one or two songs here or there, but that's pretty much it.
What's their latest song?
Dracula.
Yeah.
Who's on that song with them?
Oh.
Oh, weird.
Didn't know that.
Okay.
Well, now we know.
Sorry.
My brain went another way.
I was like, wait.
Do you know Jenny?
do you know,
but,
um,
Tampas,
I was like,
Tyler,
do you know women?
Yeah.
Do you like women?
I'm going to be honest.
I don't,
don't really like that Dracula song.
Oh,
I thought you were going to say
you don't like women.
Okay.
Oh,
no,
I love women.
Come on.
I do like the
Jenny version of that
Dracula song.
I haven't heard it,
but I will look for it.
It's really good.
I need to hear it.
Listen for it on
TikTok radio,
which I'm on
every Saturday morning,
everybody.
Yeah.
You can,
uh,
look for TikTok radio
across the country
on your radio dial.
system of your car. You'll see a little TikTok radio icon. Click on that and then put it in your
presets. If it's not available in your city somehow, because it's in available in a lot of
cities, just open up the IHeart radio app and search TikTok radio. Put that in your presets.
And then Saturday mornings, tune in. I'll be on your radio. This is a movie that I'm excited for.
I know really nothing about it. But October 2nd, you have Digger. So October's starting to pick up.
Also, I just wanted to mention this one movie. October 9th, you have a movie.
called Other Mommy, and we were watching the trailer just before The Odyssey.
And guess who got scared during the trailer?
Dude, okay.
In my defense, I was not the only one who got scared because I saw, obviously, everyone
saw The Odyssey, right?
That trailer was attached to it throughout the country.
Twitter exploded with like, what the hell is this movie?
Freaked everybody out.
I was not expecting it.
No one else was.
So in my defense, it wasn't just me.
That got scared.
Other mommy comes out October 9th.
And then October 16th, during my birthday month, we got to do a screening of Street Fighter.
Yeah.
Dude, I'm excited.
Let's do it.
It looks good.
Yeah.
It looks fun.
I'm here for it.
Any single time I've seen a trailer lately of a movie that looks fun, I'm like, that's what I need.
And I have not been disappointed yet.
I'm here for it.
Now that sports are back.
Anything on the roster just yet for you, Tyler?
Any games you're going to hit up?
Look, preseason football is here.
Yes.
Which means the regular season is around the corner.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to go to the two Falcons games I really, really wanted to go to because the schedule's just not going to mash up.
Yeah, well, oh well.
But anyways, I will be watching them from my couch.
It'll be nice to have Sundays off once again for the first time in years.
But that's just football.
Anything else?
You know, it might hit up a few baseball games now that.
baseball is starting to dwindle down like ticket prices unless you're the dodgers ticket prices
everywhere else start to dwindle down as well the dodgers has been sucking the ticket prices
should be in half uh they are they are not in half but they have not played well i will admit they
have not played well however i did secure tickets with the help of a flipper jesus randy
i did secure tickets so good to you and you are so mean to i am not mean to him oh he has told me
oh i'm such a nice person all right we are going to i don't even remember who the dodgers are playing
but they are giving away a Godzilla bobblehead of Godzilla inside Dodger Stadium.
Oh, yeah.
This is why we're going?
Well, I mean, yes, why would I not be going for that?
So on top of that, I will try to hit up a couple Dodger games,
but the one thing I'm really excited about,
hockey is around the corner, which means more Kings games at crypto.
Yeah.
That's going to be a lot of fun.
All right.
All right. We went years ago, right?
Oh.
Right before COVID.
This was pre-COVID, yeah.
This was like seven years ago.
That was our infamous Big Bear.
all the way up to Bigger,
all the way back to L.A.
That was the same day.
That's right.
To Shack's restaurant.
And then you guys went to the Kings game
and I went home.
That's right.
Oh,
that's right.
Because that was kind of a slog to go through
at L.A.
live because that was right after Kobe died too.
Oh, yeah.
So this was literally right before COVID,
like four weeks before everything closed.
I think it was less than that.
Maybe three.
It was pretty close.
It was so close.
What a time.
Yeah, we've got to be.
get back to a game. That would be cool. Also, this weekend, F1's back, baby. Finally.
If you didn't know, I haven't been talking about F1 because they have a summer break during the races.
Yeah, they've been off for three weeks. Yeah, so all the drivers get to go on summer vacation. That's pretty
cool, right? Unfortunately, my feet has been flooded with Lewis Hamilton with Kim Kardashian.
Yeah, there's a lot of that. But it's fun to see what all the drivers do on their vacation.
There's some that get hammered and then go on live feeds.
And people are like, oh, hate to be the PR person that has to deal with this one.
I'm trying to remember what's the next Grand Prix?
It's not Dutch.
Dutch.
Yeah.
What's cool about the Dutch Grand Prix, it's actually like one in the afternoon, American time.
Nice.
So that's always good because a lot of these races might be at like 6 a.m. on the weekend.
So that means it's nighttime in the Netherlands, right?
I don't know.
I didn't look that far, Tyler.
Oh, okay.
Just cared about the time.
that I had to watch it.
No, that's all good.
Understandable.
No, it's all good.
All right.
I do have to ask you a question, though.
We brought up cards.
Yeah.
I feel like cards haven't been talked about since this Otani $5 million, $10 million card.
So there has been one that was talked about.
So in the time between that got sold and now, the Tops Chrome basketball update did come out.
And that's the one that had the NBA debut.
patch autos, like the one of one.
So when these guys come out and they play their first game,
each one of them has a little debut patch that they wear on their jersey, right?
So the biggest one out there was going to be the one for Cooper Flagg who plays for the Mavericks.
Someone hit it on, I think, the first week of release.
They have the redemption card in their possession.
They have received offers for $3 million plus for it.
He said he's holding on to it.
He's not selling it yet.
What?
Which is kind of wild.
I don't care how much somebody offers for that.
I don't care if it's $3 million.
The moment that those tops, chrome, black pink cards come out,
if there is any piece of any clothing in one of those cards,
it'll be over $10 million.
That'll be the most expensive card on the planet.
It's not going to be bad.
I need to know where these cards are going to be sold.
I need boxes.
I will find out something.
And also with cards, shout out to Target.
I don't know if this is good or bad for the card world.
I don't know if this means the bubble is bursting or dwindling.
I have some thoughts on this.
But the new, so Target has redesigned all their stores.
It doesn't matter the size.
Big Target or even the small neighborhood targets.
I knows that.
Each one has cleared out space, whether it's the books, the remaining Blu-ray section, whatever it was.
My target took out the more horror-style action figures and stuff.
They have a new card setup in the back.
they're one they're trying to cut down on people stealing
but two they have opened up to even more cards
like these displays are huge for trading cards man
and it is a mad rush of people running through the stores now
to get to them
this is huge
but I think this means the bubble is going to
the moment Target gets on something
it makes it a target's world
I'm like oh this is this is not
they're making cards out of everything now
yeah it's funk code there is that
The thoughts I have on this are like this.
It is not helping at all with a theft problem whatsoever.
I've seen videos of, now keep in mind,
these are targets that are in more populated areas.
I get it.
But I've seen videos of people walking up to it,
and the boxes are literally empty
because someone's just going in,
ripping them out, and just leaving.
So which just happens,
there's also a lot less security in the back of the store.
Okay?
I've seen them put security in the back of the store.
I have not seen that at the targets I've been to yet.
So not great.
Not all of them.
Here's the other thing.
So in order to help combat the scalping problem,
especially with Pokemon,
because that's the really,
really big one,
Target was selling the boxes pre-shredded
or like pre-ripped, right?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
They cut the boxes, yeah.
Yeah.
So the CEO, a couple days ago,
sent out a memo to every single target in the country
saying,
this is a vendor product,
it's not our product,
not do that. So now they are staying sealed. And on top of that, I've seen managers who just
don't want to deal with it anymore. So not only their key, they see it, they see it being sealed
as an absolute defeat. So they're just saying, F it, people can come in, grab as many as you
want, and just leave. It's, it's not good. So there's, I get what Target is trying to do,
but you got to put some, like, limits or some guidelines in place. But do you think back to
Menace's point. They're making cards of everything.
They're putting out cards of everything.
Now Target has a big section for it.
Right. Do you feel like...
The bubble bursting.
Are we there yet? I don't think we're there yet.
As long as there's still scalpers scalping all the
Pokemon stuff, I don't think the bubble is bursting just yet.
I don't hear people talking about Pokemon cards like I did.
It's, I feel like it's sinking.
I think the people that you're hearing that from, and I'm not saying that
they're not there
but I think the people you're hearing that from
are the people that just casually collect it
and I get why they're not talking about it
because they can't get their hands on it
but see that's my point
if you can't hear the general population
talking about it like it's the thing right
then it's dwindling
you need them to the hype
yeah you need the hype exactly
if they're so hype
that was starting to come back again
when Target was like unsealing
all the boxes before purchase
so scalpers couldn't flip it for as much
now that they
put down this new order, they're like, well, screw it, like, who cares anymore?
So they just feel defeated, and I kind of get it.
Well, what's the next thing?
Let's say cards die.
Oh, God.
What's the next thing?
Oh, that's a good question.
I'm surprised cards came back because, like, coming back during COVID, it made sense.
Hey, you're stuck at home.
You need to collect things.
You found things.
You're flipping things.
It makes sense.
That's why Legos got big, too.
Dude, Legos are on massive clearance now at Target and stuff.
I have seen that.
Like, those took a hit.
Dude.
I need a big.
Okay, I'm putting it out there.
Yes.
Sorry, I'm eating chips.
We're going to talk about these ships are pretty good.
Yeah.
The massive F1 Lego, they have the Red Bull, they have the McLaren, they have Mercedes and Ferrari, I believe.
They go for $230.
There's some targets that are putting them on sale for $115.
If you find that, buy it, I'll pay you back.
Because I just can't bring myself to buy a two-
$250 a Lego.
Totally understandable.
And that's how I feel about a lot of things,
because especially if you,
oh, God, I don't want to reveal this.
If you like toys, if you like Legos,
if you like trading cards,
these are all going to Ross now.
They're all going to TJ Max.
They're all going to Ross.
They're going to Burlington.
They're going to D.D.S.
If you got D.D.S.
If you got DED up, you know you're in a hood area.
They got some good stuff there.
But, like, everything's going to Ross.
I can't justify buying stuff full price anymore.
It all ends up there.
Dude, I can either spend $20 on a Star Wars figure that's this big, or I can spend
$5 bucks at Ross.
Yeah, or the F1 helmets, too, they go for $90.
I can't, I'm not doing that.
And those are all being clearance now, too.
Yeah, if you get them on clearance, I'll send you the money.
So what Venice is saying, that's what we call a bounty.
Yeah.
That's how all this stuff works.
100.
So I will say that with the card stuff, the bubble's not dead just yet for one other reason,
and I have to give them a lot of credit.
pink? No. Tops has done a very good job of hyping up all their products and saying like, look,
you can get this and you can get this and you get this. And look, I know part of it is like influencers
and stuff like that, but they've done a good job on their own just promoting their own product.
I got to give them credit for that because of the way they promote their own stuff, it's not dying
just yet. And they do make one of one items that you can only get on their website for a limited time.
There is that as well, yes. I think that's.
an important thing, yeah. All right. I need to rush to my mom's house and get all my baseball
cards before the bubble burst for sure. Dude, so this is saying, well, so one of my buddies
owns a shop. It's next to a card shop. I'm not saying which one. This is how bad it's gotten
with card flippers. They're taking boxes and boxes of cards to whatever store. Whatever they don't
buy, they just leave them now. They put them next to trash cans. I have a giant shoebox full of
trading cards in my car right now.
just gave me. He's like, hey, they were getting rid of these. They literally left them on a bench. Do you want them?
Wow.
I've seen stuff like that.
So they just had the National Convention,
the National Collectibles Convention a couple weeks ago.
And someone posted a video.
And I hate that it's kids doing this too because it's like,
I mean, dude, this stuff is kind of expensive.
So like-
Yeah, dude, it's $5 to $10 a pack.
Yeah, dude.
That's nuts.
If you have like a base card, which is worth like pennies,
I understand it.
But like, at least think about donating it before you do anything with it.
because they showed a picture at the national of like these kids like getting all like the base cards they didn't want and literally just throwing them on the floor.
First off,
I can't even find a trash can.
Come on.
Like don't find a trash can if you're going to throw, if you really want to throw them away.
But don't throw them on the floor.
Like don't be that douchebag.
Like find a way to like donate it.
I've actually, for all the base ones I didn't want, I brought it up to my mom.
I was like, hey, you run a preschool.
Do you have kids that are like five that would want this stuff?
And she's like, they're a little too young for that.
But she gave me the idea of sending it donated to the Boys and Girls Club.
That's not a bad idea.
That's fair.
They would love that stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
We got to get back to the subject, though, of what's the next big thing?
Oh, my bad.
I have a...
Yeah.
Sorry, tangent.
I have a idea that I think might be the next big thing.
And I actually kind of support it because I believe it actually has value.
I don't know if you've seen this yet.
But gold pieces, little pieces of gold that are printed.
And they're starting to put brands behind them.
They have hot wheels ones now where it's a little piece of gold.
It could go up to, I don't know, a couple hundred bucks to like $20 to $1,500.
And it's an actual piece of gold that has different logos printed on them.
That's actual physical money.
So I think that's a good thing.
That's true.
I don't know, instead of cardboard.
Yeah, I could definitely see where...
It's a little expensive, though.
Right.
Well, yeah, because you have to pay for at least the gold.
Yeah, the entry point, you know.
Yeah, but if you get something, okay, say, we'll take Menace's idea.
Menace's theory is the high end, right?
But let's also look at a low end.
Coins and medallions being a possible next thing.
I could see that.
I could see that as well, because coins have never...
They've quietly been like a pretty big collectible forever.
Yeah.
I could see that.
Especially if there's gold, silver and all that involved.
And people are very, they're getting a little more off the grid now.
Yeah.
I support this.
So much.
Well, it goes to my theory, you know, to further explain it, it's like, yeah, more off the grid, actual, like, physical gold because, you know, oh, AI is going to clear my bank account.
Yeah.
I actually have a little piece of gold.
So I think along with that, because you just mentioned off the grid,
and you've just mentioned physical,
and you're starting to see it a little bit.
Not saying it'll necessarily be worth anything,
but physical media is starting to make a comeback.
Physical media is it's taking a turn,
but I don't think it's going to get to the,
I don't think it's going to get to the flipper level, like trading cards.
I don't think this is possible because so many older things are thrashed
and people just don't take care of that stuff.
It's revitalizing, right?
It's coming back.
Like CDs, people are buying CDs more.
Bands are making cassettes.
They're making records, obviously.
I don't see that being the thing.
I do see physical media being something more than what it was, just not that.
It'll be interesting to see what happens next because...
What else?
A couple things have taken a dive.
I mean, dude, look at the shoe market.
I was just about to bring up shoes, yes.
And Nike did it to themselves on that.
Oh, I saw that yesterday.
100%.
Well, you had two bad things, you know, because I'm a big shoe guy.
Two bad things happen.
One really bad, aka Kanye, flipped out and became a big time anti-Semitic.
So he gets canceled in the shoe world, right?
Yeah.
With Adidas.
So that was just a big avenue for the resellers.
So that's out, right?
Then Nike just started to re-insuit.
issuing all these shoes. So like the Jordans that I paid $450 for because I really wanted them,
they just re-released them and started selling them for $89. So there was like, that just totally
killed the resale market. And that's why people actually still cared about those shoes. And now
they don't even care about them anymore. And now they call Nike dad shoes. So to your point,
I will completely 1,000% agree, especially because you're able to find all those shoes.
A at Ross now, right?
And then B, back to the card bubble bursting.
The car, they're reissuing all these old cards now.
Like, that's another thing of Chrome.
They're reissuing old cards.
That's where they started messing up.
And they're showing up at Ross again.
Learn from the shoe business.
That's a bad idea.
So, I don't know.
That could be something.
But we're talking about, okay, if, like, ish hits the fan in the world,
what would be the currency?
Like everybody's, it's fight club.
Everybody's bank account went to zero.
You know?
I think at that point, like, if everyone's bank accounts going to zero, the currency is going to be,
what do you have that people use every day?
That would be like value.
So like, yeah, going back to trading, just like trading.
Well, the barter system, yeah.
So basically you're trading like food for food or you're trading like clothes for, you know.
It's whatever you got, right?
Yeah.
But then again, hey man, the world's gone to crap a few times, right?
Not end of the world like that.
but it's gone to COVID times where what did everybody do?
Hey, what's the nostalgia that I miss?
I need it.
I need the things to make me happy.
I need the trinkets.
I'm going to say I'm in a good spot because I got 60,000 action figures that people are going to want.
I think I'm going to put it.
I got all my gaming systems and all the games I need.
So I'm like, I think I'm okay.
There you'll just trade that.
Yeah.
Plus, like, the other thing, too, is that like all the stuff that pops off now,
there hasn't been anything that's lasted a while in a while.
in a while
because like
mentioned like
cryptocurrencies plateaued
NFTs died
I was going to say
no offense
about us but
Labubis are completely
dead
I never own one
dude
he just saw
what other people
weren't seeing
which like
anybody else could talk crap
on it and say
no I've never
seen a handyman
with it
the amount of people
that I knew
in the entertainment
business
and people that
were blue collar
workers that
actually had
these was off
the chart
because it was the
trendy thing
to get
and they could go, hey man, I got one of these,
or my kid won one, I got one, whatever it was.
Dude, there weren't insane lines for these things.
Everyone had that.
Yeah, for a minute.
And then it just, like, overnight just died.
All I was recognizing was like, hey, guys, this is going to be a thing.
Yeah.
Right.
And back to Menace's point, you know what killed it.
They started doing too many in-brand collabs where there was too many of them out there
and the bubble burst.
Same thing with Funko.
That's a funco issue.
But I'm trying to think, like, fidget spinners were here for,
like a second they went away. Yeah, but that wasn't money
though. Yeah, that's true. Well, the new
thing right now is those
I cannot remember what they're called,
but it's like the little like dumpling things.
Oh yeah, the Nidos?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, like those are massive
right now. It's like Nitos.
Yeah, those will die off.
That's five minutes. That's a five. Oh, yeah, no,
no, no, they'll die off a couple. That's fugglers.
You know, that died years ago.
We'll see what the next big thing is, man.
I guess we'll find out. Nothing's really on my
radar just yet. I think the gold thing,
might, if they start making more affordable ones and put brands on it, I think that's going to be the next thing.
We'll see.
Now, the reason I want those Lego F1 cars is I've been showing you guys, I've been building my home studio and it's all F1ed out.
Yeah.
And I have a shelf.
Yeah, two of those would perfectly fit on the top of.
Okay.
Two things, though.
I'm not going to spend $500 to get two of them.
What? Why not?
And seconds, man, do I really want to spend that much time building those things?
Yes, we do.
One, you don't want to spend the money, but two, yes.
Yes, you do.
Jeez, man.
I mean, I just built a little small one the other day, like 400 pieces.
Yeah.
And that's a trek.
We're talking about thousands of pieces.
Dude, I just opened up a box for a two and a half foot Gundab model kit that I needed
build and I'm determined to build it.
I got it all open. I looked at it and I'm like,
I can't start this yet. So I grabbed another
one, but like, I'm like, why did I do
this to myself? Because it's fun. Yeah.
So I've been tricking out my home
studio and
I put a new
camera in there, guys. Okay.
In contemplating,
starting to stream again. So if you guys
like streaming,
I might start streaming a little bit.
I support this.
I do as well. So,
keep an eye out at
Medis on Instagram and maybe
you'll see me stream and then in the evening
if you guys have nothing else to do
and you want to chat
check out the chat on the stream
but the
setup is almost complete. We'll see what's up
with that. Your studio's looking fun man I can't wait
for people to see it. I know it's going to be cool.
All right guys well I got to get out of here
because secret
meeting with Tyler
and I actually Brett
You don't even know about this.
Oh, what?
Is it about his secrets?
No, some Taco Bell thing that we're going to.
It involves me.
I figure you want to want it.
But, um...
Oh, that's okay.
I mean, I do support Taco Bell, but yeah, I'm probably out on that.
