Starting point is 00:00:00 What's new, what's new with Menace? What's up everybody, welcome to the What's New Podcast with Menace. I am your host Menace. I have Bort, he is a syndication expert with The Woody Show. He handles everything audio. He has his trusty assistant who's also with us. His name is Nick Soundwave. What's up Nick?
Starting point is 00:00:24 And then we have Randy. He is the video guy and the food getting guy for the Woody show. What's up? Yeah. Food delivery expert. Delivery boy. I added that on my LinkedIn. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Food delivery. Slash food delivery expert. Yeah. And we have local board op for the Woody show for Alt 98.7 in Los Angeles in Orange County. His name is Tyler. What's up, Tyler? What's up, guys? And of course, I'm Menace, and I do social media and stumble through each and every day on the Woody Show, Woody Show.
Starting point is 00:00:57 This is our side podcast that we do together, and later on on the show today, we have a special guest. His name is Mark Hoppus you might have heard of him he's from Blink-182 I think I've heard of him before yeah he's gonna stop on by but first I heard there's some drama between Tyler and Nick Soundwave is this true oh my god this is finally getting the attention I heard some rumblings of some drama. Yeah, I don't know. I've just been catching a lot of unsolicited hate from Tyler for some reason. I think it all stems because we got on the show
Starting point is 00:01:32 about the same time last year, a couple weeks apart. And I don't know, man. I've just been catching some shrapnel from him. And I'll just be sitting here working. And last week, when we were setting up for an interview, cleaning up, and I'm working, finishing stuff up for the Woody Show, finishing up the podcast. Yeah, so this whole place is cleaned up except for Eric's mess, and I'm like, whoa. And we noticed all these small little nuances. Little jabs.
Starting point is 00:01:58 I think the jab that really sealed the deal for Brett and I, there was a certain guest in the building, and we brought up in conversation about how, oh, they're much shorter than we thought they were going to be. And then Tyler brings up a point about how, yeah, but his bodyguards, those guys are ride or dies. They'll put their lives on the line for him. I don't think they're really going to put their lives on the line for this particular person. And then Tyler says something unsolicited.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Eric and I are looking at NHL news on our phones, and then Tyler's just like, and I'm stuck with you dumbasses. As if we're supposed to put our lives... I'm saying it in a PG way. He said, I'm stuck with you effing losers. So what you're trying to imply is Tyler said that you wouldn't
Starting point is 00:02:41 write a guy for him. Put our lives on the line for him. I'm like, where is this coming from? Calm down. Well, I mean, when he puts it that way and he really treats you that way, would you really put your life on the line for him? Do you think the people who were under Mussolini were like, oh, I can't wait to go fight for Mussolini?
Starting point is 00:02:55 No, they weren't. The first instance of it was me and Brett kind of got, we're like, well, where did that come from? He came in and he came in with a message off the text line where somebody texted into the woody show yeah he's like hey man somebody texted in and said you got a stupid nickname and i'm like and he just walked away after and i looked up at brett and i'm like i didn't even ask for this nickname man like what the hell and this this was after the truth had come out that tyler's original nickname was fluffer. And we're like, oh yeah, much better than Fluffer. He's like, well, I didn't ask
Starting point is 00:03:28 for that nickname. And we're like, he didn't ask for his nickname either, man. Now, Tyler, you've been quiet this entire time. What is going on, man? Because I'm dying laughing every part I'm trying. Guilty parties don't talk much. There's one more thing, too, that Eric brought up that he called him out on. So Eric,
Starting point is 00:03:44 in case you don't know, is a major fan of all Buffalo sports, whether it be the Sabres or the Bills. And on this particular day, he had a Buffalo Bills hat on. Just minding his business. And naturally, I always like to ask him once we're all done here, I'm like, oh, dude, what's the plan for today? And then Tyler, just out of nowhere,
Starting point is 00:04:01 is like probably nothing, something sad and depressing because he's a Bills fan. I'm like, what? Tyler, okay, what's the problem? What's the issue? What's happening? Sometimes I say these things that I honestly don't even like. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:04:12 You know. No, no, no. Sometimes I really don't even hear myself say that. So they brought it up in half of these. I was like, I don't remember that. All right. Well, Tyler's not copying anything. I know.
Starting point is 00:04:23 I just want to say, dun-dun-dun, Tyler is not the only dick in the room right now. Oh. What idea? Sorry, Randy, you are the dick. Now do you know why you're the dick? Take a guess. What day did this occur?
Starting point is 00:04:45 Was it a weekend or a weekday? Last week. Last week? What could it be? I have no idea. Why are you a dick? Why am I a dick?
Starting point is 00:04:53 I mean, I ask that question of you every single day. Any guesses? Anybody else in the room? I asked myself. Did Randy not invite us somewhere?
Starting point is 00:05:01 No. Was it something food related? No. Did I do something without telling you guys no all right well here it is so woody did something super nice and he got gifts for myself and randy which would be the tortilla blankets right right? Oh, right. Yeah. Okay. What do you do when you get a gift from somebody? Say thank you? I believe you just don't talk to them, right?
Starting point is 00:05:31 You say thank you. You say thank you. And then you either take it home, you put it somewhere nice. And then Randy, out of the corner of my eye, I'm not even paying attention to him. He's like, oh, I'm going to leave my tortilla blanket here, right? Well, I didn't see where he put it. You know where he put it? He put it under my desk in plain view, all sloppy. So it looks like he doesn't care at all and hasn't touched it since the moment that Woody gave it to him.
Starting point is 00:05:59 That's kind of a dick move. Now, dude, that's a super dick move for two reasons. A, it shows that, oh, hey, thanks for this tortilla blanket. Like, you don't care at all. Second is I also got the gift, and you put it under my desk, so it looks like I'm the one that doesn't care about the gift. You know, even though I was the one that took mine and put it in a nice place. Okay, I can – hold on now.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Oh, hold on. I think I have some more information. Hold on. Oh, okay. All right. Can't wait to hear this. So, okay. I've also got Randy some things and he's appreciated them.
Starting point is 00:06:32 I may have gotten him a few movies he hasn't watched yet, but I'm going to follow up with what you just said with Randy leaving a mess everywhere because Randy has a tendency to bring things into this studio that we're in right now and leave stuff everywhere, not take it home. And what happens? People walk in here and they go, man, you really need to clean up your studio right now. It's a mess. You have an RC car on the table.
Starting point is 00:06:55 There's darts everywhere. This RC car has been going for like five months. Yeah, after I yelled at you to take it home. He can't take this stuff home. So now he's just like, I'm just going to leave it everywhere. Let me ask you this real quick. Hold on, Randy. We'll let you talk in a second.
Starting point is 00:07:06 How do you think that makes Woody feel every time he, it's in plain view of his desk when he turns around to leave the room, every day he sees the gift that he got you, which he probably thinks it's the one that he got me. Right.
Starting point is 00:07:20 And it's just like put on their desk like no one cares where he actually made the effort to go get it. He probably thinks that this person is ungrateful for the gift. Yeah. Which makes sense. Which would make sense. So everybody tweet Woody right now and say Randy's a dick.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Oh my God. Yeah. Tweet Woody. And you could also tweet at the Woody show and say Randy is a messy dick slash whore. And he's an ungrateful dick. Didn't he make more of a mess on your desk the other day? Yes. Wasn't he leaving action figures everywhere? He was.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Is it the same two action figures that are now right? I'm looking at it right here on your desk. Yeah. Yeah. They came in here because they were on Menace's desk. That's Menace's spot that Randy uses during the show. And I said, you know what, Randy, you could put them in your spot here in the corner. Okay. But Randy, what are you doing, man?
Starting point is 00:08:07 You're leaving crap everywhere. All right, I'll give you the rebuttal. What's going on? Well, I will admit, I actually was thinking about this over the weekend when I was cleaning out a lot of my room. I think I have this habitual thing in which I get stuff, but for some reason, it's not that it's hard for me to decide what's, like, I wouldn't say stuff I need and what I don't need. Like I get stuff and then I just put it away. I'm like, okay, I'll use this for later. I'll put this away later.
Starting point is 00:08:29 And it's a weird thing that I have that I'm trying to break. Whereas like, for instance, Brett, I picked up Brett who was inebriated at a bar one night and I gave him my name because I'm a wonderful friend. Yeah. I bought him anything he wanted. Yeah. So he got me a Psyduck Detective Pikachu Slurpee cup. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:44 And I was like, you know what? Like this is a great great cup but I don't want to open it and tarnish it so I'm just gonna leave it in Bort's room because you know Bort's room is like the nerd room and stuff but it's one of those things where it's like I get stuff but it's like do I really need this stuff but I just hold on to it and put it away and then not get rid of it that has nothing to do with anything no I'm talking about the action figures I understand but like in the room no it has to do with like if somebody gives you a gift you put it in a proper place you know no i admit it i admit that i shouldn't put the blanket you know you put in a proper place and you know like look even if you don't use it even if you don't like watch it listen to it wear it use it at home to sleep with you still go hey man thanks so much
Starting point is 00:09:25 for that i really appreciate you put in the time and effort you know even if it's a little while they put in a lot of effort and thought and you're you know even if you get to it six months later you're like hey thank you i appreciate that is that that's the point we're trying to make no and i hear i i hear your point first time you guys said anything i assume that was the point then why are you still questioning it? How am I questioning it? I'm giving you reasoning as to why I have stuff in your room. No, you just go, yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:09:50 I understand, sir. I'm not going to tell you, sir. Here's the question. Are you listening to the point and letting it sit in your head, or is it going one ear and right out the other? That's what I'm talking about. I'm just asking. I'm just asking.
Starting point is 00:10:00 There's too much. I'm going to be nice to you. Is this one of those other things that you're not thinking about and you're just saying? With what you just brought up, he makes me look like a saint. I'm sorry. Take It's too much. I'm going to be nice to you. Is this one of those other things that you're not thinking about? You're just saying? With what you just brought up, he makes me look like a saint. I'm sorry. Take a lap, Tyler. Take a lap.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Whoa. Whoa. Take a lap, dude. That might be a little too far. Makes you look like a saint. Let's think about this for a second. I have a tortilla blanket, which is obviously my fault. That left under the desk.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Or you verbally assaulting the most gentle, docile person in the showcast. Or, you know, also, you were given a gift recently, too, and, you know, I think you should be thanking that person, like, every week, you know, and saying, hey, man, I really appreciate this. I'm doing this with it. I'm doing that with it. You know, I'm not just sitting here looking up sports facts every day. Do you know what gift this is?
Starting point is 00:10:39 You know, I think you should be very grateful because that is above and beyond an amazing thing to get, right? I mean, i would think so i guess i agree a thousand percent do you know what he's talking about hold on hold on hold on he said we all saw the lob coming and i was like man this doesn't see it coming man i'm like what's he talking about set set set set look okay well you gotta tell him what's going on i know uh so it's not inside Set, set, set. Look, look, look. Look, I'm using it to come up with a new show related. You got to tell them what's going on.
Starting point is 00:11:06 I know. So it's not inside. Tyler got a laptop, a MacBook laptop. Powerful one too. From someone very generous here on the show. Not me. Ibby Menace. And he said, hey, look, I'm going to give you this because you don't have one.
Starting point is 00:11:23 And I think you can make a great use out of this. But you have to do me a favor and teach yourself something. Learn a new skill. Use it for something. Don't just play on it and do whatever. And I threatened to take it away if he doesn't because I'm going to use it. And I don't think you've used it really for anything. I have been using it.
Starting point is 00:11:40 I think you should take him. The only thing that Brett and I and Eric know that he's been doing is he's been pulling audio clips for a certain thing that he's got planned. Okay. Eventually for happening. That I'm trying to work on. Hold on now, Skippy. The program he's using to pull those audio clips
Starting point is 00:11:57 instead of diving into the internet and figuring out where to find it or how to do it, doing his research. Don't you do what I think you're about to do. Scouring through the forums. Don't you do it. You know what he does? Don't you do what i think you're about to do the forums don't you do what he does don't you do it hey randy how do i do this oh no no no no he's still learning if he's asking you i the certain thing that i needed i tried downloading it i could not get it to load up i gave it to randy and said hey look do you know how to do this he had to go through like the deep parts of reddit to go find it and he found it and i said thanks like i really appreciate
Starting point is 00:12:31 it oh cool did you ask me how did you do it randy no i did not you told me you went to reddit and found the one that you needed so that was that was it did you think menace after that again it's all good yeah now let's talk about something other than people being dicks what else do we have I have a very special request that if you are listening to this podcast either on the iHeartRadio app
Starting point is 00:12:55 the Apple iTunes whatever store it's called these days SoundCloud whatever please comment rate and review the podcast. You can go to whatsnewpod.com. That's whatsnewpod.com. And just go to all of them and please just rate and review them and comments on them.
Starting point is 00:13:16 And speaking of podcasts, I went to the Boardcast is now available on Apple iTunes. It is. Rip. A wonderful benefactor helped me set that up. Yeah. And if you go to theboardcast.com, there was already a hater on there, and I swear it has to be somebody in this building
Starting point is 00:13:33 that gave you a one-star review on there. I saw that. I think I know who it is. Was there a word review or just the star? I just saw the star. It's either one of two people. It's either someone that's on this show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Yeah, because i've i've actually noticed that a lot of the people that listen to the broadcast and stuff they're already dedicated board fans like they like they all agree to what he says like there's like it's just so i'm surprised i'm genuinely surprised that you got a one-star view which makes me definitely skeptic and on the same page as you are there There's a hater in the mist. There's one dick who is a friend that works for this company on a sister station at night who I used to work for
Starting point is 00:14:12 Monday through Friday. And he might have gave you that one star. Oh, he trolls on our YouTube page. I noticed. Really? I figured it out because he used to troll me on Twitter. He trolls on our YouTube. Anytime there's something with me, I'm like, oh, that's him. Dick. What a dick thanks tim i really appreciate it oh damn tim it's not the mario lopez show so anyways in the past
Starting point is 00:14:32 couple podcasts we were talking about maybe taking a cruise together and some people reached out to me and they might make it happen oh what which is crazy the The Alaskan cruise in August that we're going to try to do. Now, let's say it falls through and they can't make it happen, right? Right. I did look up. There's a situation where the cheapest way that we could go, like a bunk bed situation in like a single room with like no ocean view, nothing. I'm not sleeping under Tyler.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Call dibs. What do you guys think? Are you down with that? I call bottom bunk. I'm not sleeping under Tyler. What do you guys think? Are you down with that? Just a bunch of guys in a room together. No windows. The beauty of nature. Bears. I wouldn't spend any time in that room. You know I'm normally down for anything.
Starting point is 00:15:18 So you're out. I'm going to say I'm out for one reason. Where's your sense of adventure? If we have to sleep in the same enclosed area with no window and on top of each other in bunk beds, I could hear Tyler breathe from across the room right now. Dude, this isn't a cargo ship. It's a cruise. No windows.
Starting point is 00:15:36 Can you imagine trying to sleep through that snoring? I'm really good at sleeping through anything. Yeah, I can sleep through anything. I wouldn't have that problem. If you're a light sleeper, which I kind of think you are. Imagine us all fatties together. The snoring. They're going to think something's wrong with the room. They're like,
Starting point is 00:15:52 what happened to the engine? It sounds like it's dying. Eric's not going to sleep at all. Anyway, so we have some people working on it. Hopefully it comes together. That would be awesome because I want to take that Alaskan cruise. It would rule super hard. And speaking of ruling, I went to Disneyland over the weekend, got to check out Galaxy's Edge. Now, this is my review.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Food game, on point. The whole layout, on point. I'm going to say if you travel across the country for it, I would wait until the other ride comes. That's all I'm going to say. If you're local, come on down. But you're going to want to experience that other ride that everybody keeps on talking about. Is there any word on what that other ride is? Apparently, it's like a 20-minute, 30-minute ride, right?
Starting point is 00:16:32 Oh, that's going to be the 20-minute one. Yeah, it's like a cart system that then goes to different areas that you then end up in space somehow. I have a feeling it's going to be on a rail system kind of like the Transformers ride is at Universal. I think maybe it'll be similar to that but it's not opening up until what, December? I think so, yeah. But that gives people
Starting point is 00:16:53 enough time to save up and travel out to Anaheim, California. As far as getting into Galaxy's Edge, I'm very, I have no clue as to how it works.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Do you still need reservations to get in there? Currently until I think another week. So do you think it's open? Do you think it's going to be much harder to go see stuff when the reservation thing is done, when it gets pulled? Yeah. Well, you're just going to have to wait in super long lines. And then also super hard to get into the cantina, even if you have a reservation.
Starting point is 00:17:20 You have to like run all the way to the cantina right away to get a reservation to get in. Did you get into the cantina? I did not get into the cantina because I had to go to Raging Waters with Scotty Fox. And then by the time I drove over there, I missed the window to do the reservation. Looks super cool from all the videos that I've watched online. But again, I kind of wish I would have waited until the other ride was available to experience the whole thing together. But I will say, you know what's good about that cantina being there? Yeah?
Starting point is 00:17:49 The lines at Trader Sam's are going to be super low. I know, right? Hell yeah. Dude, we'll go drink at Trader Sam's. If you're not a big Star Wars person and you just want to go to Disneyland to go for it, there's going to be no better time than when Galaxy's Edge, like the reservation. Oh, yeah, because everyone's going to go there. Everyone's going to be slammed into there's gonna be no better time than when galaxy's edge like the reservation oh yeah because everyone's gonna go there everyone's gonna be slammed into there exactly so you're telling me there's gonna be a short line for like the matterhorn and space mountain and all that
Starting point is 00:18:12 stuff dude i lucked out because i don't know what was going on i walked by indiana jones and it's there was no time for the wait oh my god i go that's weird i go yeah is there any weight they're all no um the ride just reopened i walked right onto the right i love that oh wait i feel so amazing when like when stuff like that happens i'm just walking i'm like oh look it's pirates of caribbean oh it's broken oh wait no it's not and i walked back like space mountain you can walk all the way to the front i feel like truly i've had that i had that Walked right past Space Mountain one time. These two random girls come up to me and my friend like, hey, we're about to leave. We have these fast passes that are good for right now if you want to go.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Oh, that's cool. Wait in line for two minutes. God is good. That rules. Menace, since you're a big Disney fan, also since you're a big comic person, have you heard that Disney's thinking of opening a Marvel, sorry, Avengers Land or something? A Marvel Land. That's something that I shouted out like years ago when I knew that they were all coming together. And people said, oh, that's not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Yeah, yeah. I don't know. Where would they put it, though? They said part of California Adventure, right? Yeah. If you walk down the main area of California Adventure, kind of where the Bugs Lifeline used to be, it's all kind of blocked off and it says Stark Industries on the side.
Starting point is 00:19:29 That's where they're going to put it. For Florida, I started noticing and I started asking people at Disney World and Epcot and MGM Studios or Hollywood Studios, whatever you want to call it. Epcot is slowly turning into Pixar and Marvel Land. They're going to rebrand everything to be Pixar and Marvel.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Florida has so much land, they could put five Anaheim Disneyland. They have three more resorts going up as we were there. Also, I noticed over the weekend, Bort was in front of a giant Pikachu. Yes. What is going on? And last podcast, we shouted out your gamer codes or whatever are you really that addicted to pokemon go so i'm addicted to it right now because nintendo announced that you can start taking your pokemon from pokemon go yeah and they're gonna have a cloud service that you can
Starting point is 00:20:16 transfer them there yeah and then download them onto your nintendo switch games or your nintendo ds games so they're not stuck on your your phone. So if you catch a rare Pokemon here on your phone, you can actually put it on the game. So I'm kind of stuck with that. But I always liked Pokemon. I always thought it was fun, and the video games was dope. Oh, wow. Oh, yeah, and we got tons of ads.
Starting point is 00:20:38 So thank you, everyone, that added us. Yeah, I've run out of stuff to send people because there's so many people requesting. Because you can send presents and stuff. Guys, you're such a nerd. Hey, man. It's so many people requesting because you can send presents and stuff guys you're such a nerd you need to accept them see you're fake dude click accept on all those
Starting point is 00:20:54 you're so fake you're a poser dude where's my gift from Eric if you want everybody's codes to be friends with them check out our second podcast right?
Starting point is 00:21:08 If you want we could share them somewhere right? We could send you the codes you could put them on Instagram. I'll put it on the What's New Pod Instagram account so at What's New Pod I'll put all the numbers up there for you guys if you want to add
Starting point is 00:21:27 these guys all right i think i'm looking over i think mark hoppus is outside now we hit up mark hoppus and we asked him like hey can we like call some super fans we looked them up online and these are mega blink 182 fans and mark agreed since he was going to be at the studio for a couple of minutes, that we were going to call these fans. And we thought it would be fun to do it on the podcast. So let's get Mark in here and call these people real quick. All right, Mark, you ready? We're going to call these people real quick.
Starting point is 00:21:56 OK, cool. This first guy, his name is Todd. And he has a Blink-182 podcast. It's called Blink-180 Dudes. Okay. Hello? Hi, can I speak with Todd, please? This is him.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Good, how are you? I heard you had a podcast called Blink-180 Dudes. We got the band coming in today. Was there a question that you would like to ask the band? Mark, in particular? Obviously, we'd love to know when the new album's coming out new album let's ask the band mark uh yeah actually we um we keep writing songs for the record and the songs keep getting knock wood better and better and better so we
Starting point is 00:22:40 keep adding songs and i believe that it is going to come out later this summer than we originally anticipated, but it is going to be all the better because of it. Todd, do you realize you're talking to Mark the whole time? Yeah. Oh, damn it. We thought we were going to surprise you. I said, is this Mark? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:00 I thought you might've said that. Damn you ruined it, Todd. Yeah. I mean, I, we could go back and I could pretend no you're great i appreciate it yeah you're a legit fan though i listened to your podcast last night when i was looking for super fans he had an hour-long discussion just about blink-182 i think it was episode 36 oh wow yeah there's that much blink-182 to talk about well well we did we um we went back and we've since, you know, the 20-year announcement of Venom of the State. We did our top three from that album. What's the top three?
Starting point is 00:23:36 I had Adam's Song, Dick and Terry Gary, and Going Away to College at number one. Okay, great. And I was talking about how I was a kid and I wasn't allowed to have the CD myself because I was a little younger. And I guess my mom wasn't a big fan of, you know, the porn star on the front cover. My older brother, my older brother had the CD and I used to go into his room. I would take it and put it in my portable CD player and I would put another CD on top of it. So for whatever reason, my mom opened it to see what I was listening to. You wouldn't see the Blink album on there. And I would sit up, like, every Saturday morning,
Starting point is 00:24:11 I would sit at my computer playing Backyard Baseball, and I would listen to the album start to finish every single Saturday. And I remember thinking, because I had been into music at that time, I had bought a few CDs myself, and it was the only CD that I owned that I could listen to start to finish. Thank you. And I thought that was, like, the coolest thing in the world. Appreciate you. Yeah, that's what I fell in love with Blink. and it was the only cd that i owned that i could listen to start to finish thank you and and i thought that was like the coolest thing in the world appreciate you probably yeah that's awesome i'm sorry to i gotta wrap it up thank you because i i got some more fans to call but
Starting point is 00:24:34 thank you guys so much i appreciate it oh thank you thanks yeah love you oh don't love them anymore my bad all right this is. This is the last one. Okay. You're okay. Now we had to learn how to call Italy. Okay. So, yeah, this is a Blink-182 Italy fan account on Twitter. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Like five times. Okay. I'll do the setup on this one. Okay, cool. Hello? Hey, cool. Hello? Hey, Valid. Valid? Vlad. Vlad. How you doing?
Starting point is 00:25:14 Yes, it's me. Hi. It's Menace. How you doing? I'm doing great, thanks. How are you? I'm good. So I noticed that you have a Blink-182 fan account for Italy. Yeah, I do. Yeah, how long have you been running that? I am not the founder. Blink Italia was founded in 2009,
Starting point is 00:25:33 just a couple of days after Blink reunited at the Grammy Awards. That was, I think, the 51st Grammy Awards ceremony. And I joined the team in 2012, and now I'm the main guy behind Blink-182 Italia. Grazie mille! What's that? Scusi! Scusi, scusi.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Am I not saying it right? I'm trying to say it right. Well, you are very close to being right. You're saying that way better than most people, so congratulations on your scusi. So, if I had Mark from Blink-182 here with me, what would you ask him? Do you have any questions? Well, I would probably ask him about the new album. I know that they have been trying to experiment with the new album.
Starting point is 00:26:20 You know, California, the 2016 album was sort of a throwback. Well, I do have Mark here with me. Hi. Oh, do you? Hi, how are you? Hey, hi, Mark. I'm fine, thank you. How are you? Good. To answer your question, we did work with a lot of different producers just to get different sounds and different takes on ideas that we had.
Starting point is 00:26:44 And we have everything from some really fast punk rock stuff to some more kind of experimental rock music with 2019, 2020 production. And I think there's a little bit of everything for everybody on this record. There's some, there's definitely some stuff with a whole lot of energy. There's some ballads. It's,
Starting point is 00:27:03 it's coming together really nicely and I'm really excited for people to hear it thank you so much thank you all right yeah thank you so much hopefully we'll see you guys next year in europe absolutely thank you so much for talking to us and i think i will report back to my community as soon as possible all right all right thank you cool thank you so much thank you for doing that cool i appreciate it man it's ramp us back to my community as soon as possible. All right. All right. Thank you. Cool. Thank you so much. Thank you for doing that. Cool. I appreciate it,
Starting point is 00:27:28 man. It's such a trip to like be in front of Mark Hoppus like that, just to have them come through. I was thinking my very first concert, my very first concert was BFD at the shoreline at Mountain View, California in 1998. And Blink-182 played that concert with Green Day, the Deftones, Prodigy, Crystal Method, and so many more.
Starting point is 00:27:51 What was your first concert, Bort? Oh, my first concert was, I went to OzFest 2002. My sister took me. And it was headlined by Ozzy, System of a Down, Rob Zombie, Meshuggah, Mushroomhead, O-Tep. Like, just all these super metal bands were there. It was dope. Nick Soundway.
Starting point is 00:28:10 I went and saw Rise Against at Long Beach Arena. Nice. Yeah, like, just before they kind of blew up. And then I actually saw them again at Long Beach Arena, like, maybe a year or two later down the line. I saw the difference in size crowd, or the crowd size. Yeah. Yeah, so Rise Against. Did you go to the, you went to the Fiesta, right,
Starting point is 00:28:27 when we had him? No, no, that was the one before I came to the show. So Brett's told me about that and I'm really upset that I didn't get on the Woody Show wagon a year earlier.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Dude, I wish you were there for that because I said I was going to get in the pit. Me and my wife Shasta were like, we're getting in the pit. We went in the pit.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Anyone else join us? No. Randy got punched in the face before he could get in there. And wussed out after that. I said, I'm not going to throw down on a work event. So I'm like, you know what? Whatever. It's cool.
Starting point is 00:28:52 What was your first concert, Randy? Now, believe it or not, being that I'm in radio, you would think, oh, you know, you go to concerts all the time before we get into it. My first concert was actually two and a half years ago at the Palladium. I saw Group Love. And it's when I was an intern. Wait, you got an internship here, and it was your first concert? That was my first concert. Well, because the thing was, think about it.
Starting point is 00:29:12 Before that, I could drive and stuff, but when I was working, tickets, when you're making minimum wage, tickets seem like such a big thing, especially if you're not really obsessed with a band or a genre. And I always kind of just liked all sorts of music, i was never like totally girly or geeking out over a band or something you know a festival or whatever so my first concert was a group love although i should have gone to the killers back in 07 yeah nobody could take me and i was like dad can you take me and instead he sold the tickets in front of the venue oh sweet pretty penny yeah hell yeah
Starting point is 00:29:42 man isn't that crazy that kids or younger people are just like, man, I can't justify spending money on a concert ticket. I know. That was a whole era of... I'm saving every dollar I have. Or like my sister used to go through fountains in the mall to grab change so that she could take it to Ticketmaster and get concert tickets. Well, I think a lot of people Randy's age or younger are just saving their money for festivals instead of one-off shows.
Starting point is 00:30:10 The one-off shows, the parents are paying for those. That's the thing, though, because I've seen a lot of people get crazy in debt for festivals. And they always try to justify it. It's like, well, you're paying the same amount for one artist. I'm paying the same amount for 10 artists. Still debt. But don't get me artist. I'm paying the same amount for 10 artists. Like, still, still debt. Yeah. But, I mean, don't get me wrong.
Starting point is 00:30:28 I always wanted to go see bands and artists and stuff. Why are you laughing at him? I know what he's going to say, probably. What? $1,400 pre-order for video games. Yeah, that's right. He's great about it. Pre-order means that I paid it already.
Starting point is 00:30:40 All right. Just to recap, on woody show last week randy was called out for pre-ordering 1400 worth of video games again my rebuttal to all this is let's think about it for a second as to how many people again festivals or alcohol what's wrong with that drugs or festivals meanwhile me i'm just playing video games let me live my life oh yeah cool dog blood son yeah i feel you now tyler what was your first concert uh my first concert i went to go see mac miller no way that was a lot of fun but you know i'm really bummed now that he's uh passed on so i'll never get to see that again but it was it was really cool seeing it that was my first concert like out of high school first concert ever downtown la hell of a lot of fun you guys went to monday night raw last night
Starting point is 00:31:29 how was that it was pretty dope man it was really really fun i got to take my brothers they had a blast i got to take an old friend of mine too and he just bought me alcohol for the whole night because i got him the free ticket so sweet it's a hell of a lot of fun all right from a guy that hasn't watched wrestling probably since the 90s, who is the hot wrestler right now? I know The Rock, he's not wrestling right now. Yeah. He only shows up every once in a while for a special event or something.
Starting point is 00:31:56 So who's the top dog? So for WWE world, I would say they're still trying to keep Brock Lesnar as one of their top guys um but for the men i would probably say it's a tie between seth rollins and aj styles is probably the top guys right now all right so 90s my era who do you think was the top wrestler back in the day for you for you personally are you talking like... Not like mainstream, this is a wrestler that everybody liked. Who was your wrestler? Oh, the wrestler that?
Starting point is 00:32:31 Yeah. I mean, not... You had to pick one. Just one? Yeah. For the entire 90s? That's hard. Yeah, mid-90s, late 90s.
Starting point is 00:32:40 I mean, like... We know Hulk Hogan was huge. Was he your guy? Hulk Hogan was like my guy when I was a child, right? Uh-huh. But then it was Bret the Hitman Hart. Oh, yeah. He was dope.
Starting point is 00:32:51 I was a giant Bret the Hitman Hart fan. And then it shifted into Stone Cold Steve Austin, which I got to tell Stone Cold once. I was like, you know, I hated you. I visibly hated you. Yeah. He's like, well, damn right, son. That's good. that's what i want i was like yeah i was here but then i started you know stone cold became the top guy that's the guy
Starting point is 00:33:11 everyone loved you know i remember the rockers man did you ever follow the rockers was that your era or are you too young no no no man i have a sean michaels rockers figure sean michaels marty genetti well that's how i found out about brett the hitman heart yeah the heart foundation would feud with the rockers all the time yeah i love the rockers they were dope yeah tyler how about you oh man mid 90s was definitely brett heart and then do i have to absolutely pick one yeah if i'm picking one junkyard dog junkyard dog rules coco beware repo man if if i have to go to the late 90s and pick one that's when i really started to fall in love with the undertaker really yeah he's my all-time favorite number one i have his tattoo or i have a tattoo of his logo on my arm i mean that's how big of a deal he was to me when I was growing up.
Starting point is 00:34:05 It's so funny. Like back in the day, I had that one friend hated Hulk Hogan. He's like, Ric Flair is my guy. Ric Flair. Do you know anybody that goes hard for Ric Flair? Tons. I mean, I know now he had like a resurgence where like people like want to party with him and they think he's super cool. But back then in the 90s, I know he was a big, as they call it, a heel, a bad guy, right?
Starting point is 00:34:30 Yeah. Back in the day. I think it was an area kind of thing. So West Coast, if you grew up on the West Coast, you gravitated more towards WWF, which it was like a New York property. So New York, Los Angeles kind of connected. So you gravitate towards WWF. So Hulk Hogan was your guy or macho man or ultimate warrior rick flair was on you know he was in the south and on the east coast so a lot of people from the carolinas georgia florida that was their boy rick flair was their hero man because he was he
Starting point is 00:35:01 was the hero even though he was a bad guy he was like the anti-hero of the East Coast through NWA, AWA, WCW. He was their guy. So I know tons of people that were like, Hulk Hogan? Who the hell's that, man? No, it was all about Ric Flair. Ric mother effing Flair.
Starting point is 00:35:18 That's who my guy was. Nature boy. Woo! Now, do you think any wrestling promotion is going to reach the level of wwe like that would be able to come up that you know we've already uh me and abort have already started talking about this and there's a new player coming in called all elite wrestling aew and they are made up of basically all the guys who are pretty much anti-wwe and they have a very big fan base because
Starting point is 00:35:47 a couple of them happen to also be the best wrestlers in the world at the moment and at the same time the fans have been sick of the wwe product for years now yeah so they're they're all gravitating towards this new aew product and it's it's paying off well like uh their last pay-per-view that went on sale a couple days ago they sold it out within 15 minutes yeah for what do you think i think aew could probably be they're a big company it could be a big promotion and stand on its own two legs as long as they don't try to rival wwe because any wrestling promotion that i've seen come up in the last 15 years you know without wcw ecw all that stuff they did a great job until they try to go toe and
Starting point is 00:36:34 toe with wwe it's a do your own thing be your own thing you don't have to try to compete with across the street just be you and you'll beat the competition so like there there was a company you probably remember it was called t uh tna total last type action that's gone it's still there but they've changed their name four times and you know it's it's very low now no one really cares about it didn't billy corgan from smashing pumpkins run that federation for a second so billy corgan was running it until the uh the people that own that company now i believe it's anthem they own like the fight network or something they pretty much kicked him out of the company they're like no we're gonna take over this we really don't you know you're doing a great
Starting point is 00:37:14 job but we don't want you to do this and he was gonna buy it but they they kicked him out uh billy corgan actually now runs the nwa the national wrestling alliance that's been around since like the 1900s are you serious yeah he's running it it's it's kind of rad you can watch their show it's um nwa from hollywood it's on uh a bunch of bunch of like local channels and stuff all over the country but i think aew could do a great job they just need to do their own thing and they have a tv deal all right they're gonna be on tnt like in the fall all right when it comes to this wrestling stuff what is the female to male ratio when you look into the crowd uh is it mostly male it's probably minimum a 10 to 1 male to female ratio oh minimum uh i don't know what you were looking at maybe you had your beer goggles on
Starting point is 00:38:06 at the show son but I saw you go to a WWE show and they put on amazing shows live you can't compete with that it's amazing but there's kids there boys and girls there's a lot of women that go
Starting point is 00:38:22 I was looking at the floor seats most of the floor seats were women because they wanted to see a lot of women that go i was looking at the floor seats yeah most of the floor seats were women because they wanted to see a lot of the dude wrestlers and there's a lot of female wrestlers that are so talented and popular now yeah menace i think you know one bailey yeah bailey i mean she's from the san francisco bay area i don't really know her personally but i know a lot of friends of mine who are really into wrestling and independent wrestling watched her come up and become a star right and she is an outstanding talent but there's a lot of women that now want to go to watch wrestling because of the female wrestlers like i oh so go ahead i think that reality show definitely helped because i was yeah i even watched that you know
Starting point is 00:39:02 yeah my wife was watching that she was was watching Total Divas and stuff, and she would kind of watch me watching WWE. And she's like, oh, I kind of know these people. She went with me to the show. She was all decked out in her shirt. She wanted to go. She wanted to stay. I was kind of ready to leave.
Starting point is 00:39:19 You know, I'm like, okay, I got work. She wanted to stay and watch the women's match at the end. Nice. Yeah, so I think it's more like a maybe like a 70 30 60 40 split right now it's getting more more women are being there and i want to shout out a movie real quick yeah it's based on a true story right page it's called fighting with my family it is i love that movie i thought that movie was great you know the rock produced that movie yeah like he heard about page's story and he's like, we need to make this into a movie.
Starting point is 00:39:48 And not only that, there's kind of like a really nice story in it as well. There's a girl that plays the wrestler AJ Lee in the movie. She goes by the name Zelina Vega in WWE. The Rock has pretty much been mentoring her for the last 10 years and kind of helped her get into WWE and a wrestler. So he kind of got her in the movie, got her into WWE. So it's kind of like,
Starting point is 00:40:13 you know, he's taking care of a lot of women wrestlers and kind of pushing them to the front. So, well, it's really cool. Like when you follow the independent stuff and watch people, you,
Starting point is 00:40:21 you know, reach great heights and get to that WWE thing, you're like, wow, I've been rooting for this person to make it. That's super cool. Yeah, it's funny. Every wrestling show I go to, I can't help it. People would call me a Mark, as it's known. But every single time I see a wrestler,
Starting point is 00:40:39 I can't help but call them by their original name. So if I see John Cena, I call him Prototype. That was his original name? That was his original name. he used to be in dark matches here in la and he was like super beefed out like you know like crew cut blonde and then uh there's a wrestler right now called ricochet uh we saw him last night and his old name was prince puma in lucha underground all right so i started tagging him online. I'm like, oh, hey, Prince Puma. Prince Puma. Yeah. Shout out.
Starting point is 00:41:07 Yeah. Yeah. Speaking of the indies, shout out to the local promotion out here, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, PWG. A lot of the guys that are in WWE right now started over there. And it's really cool to just go check them out when they're barely starting out. Yeah. And oh, shout out because I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area.
