Hi, this is Rachel McElroy.
Hello, this is Griffin McElroy.
And this is wonderful.
Welcome to Wonderful to show.
We talk about things we like that's good that we're into.
Usually a very fun, lightweight vibe makes you feel good to listen to it.
But, you know, it's Shocktober.
And I can't make any promises to that effect because it might be pretty freaking scary.
Oh, man.
I love Halloween.
I love the spooky season.
Yeah.
I do not love people.
people using it as like a intro or a thing to talk about.
Oh, interesting.
So, should we start over?
Okay.
Welcome to Wonderful.
It's a podcast.
We talk about things we like.
That's good that we're into football seasons back, baby.
Toss that pig skin down the gridiron and let's catch one for seven points.
I think because it's such a short season, you know, that like it feels very dated.
Yeah.
And it just reminds me of the Today Show.
Oh shit, babe.
Like, what are the hot Halloween costumes this season?
We'll look into it.
Al, give us the weather.
But then Al Roker's dress up like baby Yoda.
Did he do that one?
Did Al Roker dress up like Baby Yoda?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He had the floating pod and everything, the ears.
The Today Show is kind of famous for their like real huge commitment to Halloween costumes.
That's true.
That's true.
I don't know if he's done Baby Yoda.
But law of large numbers, that show's been around for such a long time.
And the footprint of the Mandalorian is, as you know.
You were going to say the footprint of Al Roker.
The footprint of Al Roker is also probably enormous.
I mean, in my mind, he's 15 feet tall because of the one time that he did embarrass me and roast me personally face to face in front of my good friend, Jamie Buffett.
And I'm seriously pissed.
That's such a, I know you're not in get-to-know-you situations very often.
but if you ever have to do like a two truths and a lie.
No, yeah, my two truths in a lie.
I got roasted by Al Roker.
Yeah, yeah.
Al Roker burnt my ass up into a crisp,
into a caramel-y crisp.
Yeah, my two truths and a lie game
would be pretty fucked up, I think.
Yeah.
I didn't used to have, like,
when I was doing that at church camp,
I never had like anything good.
But now I feel like I could really smoke.
I know.
I remember one of my lies was,
I have my ears pierced.
like that
that was about the level I was
gonna bring
yeah I used to
I remember a few times
I would always struggle with this
and one of my like facts
would be that would be my partial blindness
in my eye
and people would often be like
oh that one probably
it's kind of fucked up
and then I'd have to be like
no I like part of my left eye doesn't work
and then the response to that was usually like
oh so that was that was the energy
that I was bringing to church camp
is it suggests there's like some
story, some, like, great story.
God, I fucking wish, man. And then for you to just be like, I don't know.
I don't know. Maybe he's born with it.
Doctors don't quite, no.
Do you have any small wonders?
Oh, man. I mean, hockey's back.
Is it? I didn't notice. I know that they had the one game.
You know what I will say, and we were talking about this last night as we were watching
them lose to a team that hadn't lost yet.
Or hadn't won yet.
Or hadn't won yet.
Yeah.
Had played three games and had lost all three.
And then lo and behold, they played.
A generous team to St. Louis Blues always looking out for the little guy.
Anyway, the players they have brought to the team this year as new guys, not all of them
brand new to the NHL, but like new to blues are performing.
Yeah, there's some new, there's some big trades that they made.
And we got, who we got?
We got McTavish.
McTavish and McMichael.
McMichael.
Yeah.
That's fun.
And then the new Jerichick.
Jerich is a fast little guy.
Incredible.
He's a new guy.
I didn't know anything about him.
And it's fun because the announcers will be like, oh, look at Jerich.
Oh, wow.
He's skating so fast.
Got his first ever goal in the first game and they called it back.
They did call it back.
And then I think it was McTavish scored his first goal in yesterday's game.
They called it right back.
Blues, you got to learn how to get on side.
You got to get in that ozone and you got to get there.
But you got to follow the rules.
They get so excited to play hockey.
Yeah. We also went to a Capitals game, preseason, which is fun. We've flirted with the idea of following the Capitals. Ovechkin just announced it's his last season. I think it'll feel cooler to join the fandom.
And Cairo's there now.
And he's there now. And he scored the game winner. Yeah. Well, you know, there's a lot. I'm paying about it. I think I'm picking about it.
Yeah. So anyway, so it's exciting to have the games to watch. But it's frustrating. It's frustrating.
to watch them pretty much pick up with all of their weaknesses where they left off.
Yeah.
No, yeah, it suggests like, what were you guys doing?
What were you guys doing?
I can tell you, here's how I spent my summer vacation.
It was a bummer.
My summer vacation is, that's not a fun story.
But what were you guys?
What were you guys doing?
Are you skating?
Are you skating and passing?
It seems like when they practice, they only practice the stuff they're good at.
Sure.
The penalty kill is so great.
It's pretty good.
Used to be best in league pretty good stuff.
Power play, sad.
Power play is so bad.
They have yet to score PowerPlay goal.
Have an extra player on the ice as compared to the other team and they still can't.
Still can't quite get it in the in between the runs.
Yeah.
I'm sure it'll turn around.
What's your small wonder?
I don't know, dude.
I was trying to, I was going to talk about Physical 100 Mexico, but we already did that.
We already did talk about that.
I don't know.
I got a new MIDI keyboard.
It's got glowing buttons and shit.
Whoa, that's a big guy.
Yeah, I mean, it's like 37 keys.
It's not wide, but it is tall.
And it has many buttons on it.
And I like that.
That's exciting.
You figure it out how to use it?
Yeah, for sure.
It's not too hard to, I mean, it does a lot of shit that I, like all of these that I don't really understand.
Like, there's a button here that says cord map.
I don't know.
I haven't pressed it yet.
Let's see.
Oh, the colors change.
Shone the lights. That's awesome. That's cool. I mostly got it because I wanted a keyboard that had an actual mod wheel on it.
So I could put a little bit more vibrato on my talk box. Yeah, can I ask you, I haven't listened to this week's Mbim Bam. Is this one where you debut?
I'm almost certain unless it all got edited out, which is possible. You never know. I'm not calling the shots around here anymore. I haven't listened yet.
Okay, I have to turn these lights off because they're very bright and distracting. You go first this week. What would you like to discuss?
So following the hockey theme.
Yeah.
And I felt for sure I've talked about this, but maybe I hadn't just because it's a broad topic, which is decorated goalie masks in the NHL.
I did a control left for goalies in our topic database.
The only thing we had talked about is when goalies score goals.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And that's still great.
I still love when that happens.
What inspired this is at the beginning of every season, ESPN just lists all the cool,
personalized goalie masks for all the teams.
Yeah.
And what had motivated this search also was that Bennington
on his mask has a little tiny John Hamm.
I know this.
I saw the little tiny.
So if you're not, I don't know if we've probably talked about it on the show before,
but John Hamm is a St. Louis Blues fan.
And I don't know if it happens now,
now that all of the commentators have changed from back in the Stanley Cup run in
2019. But John Ham would come into the booth during games. And a lot of the times when he came in
the booth to like talk to talk to the commentators, the blues would just start scoring goals like
crazy. Well, that and also when they had their Stanley Cup run, John Ham was like at every game.
Like wearing the merch, like shouting it from the rooftops. Like he is a one of St. Louis's
beloved celebrities. And he really supports the team.
And so now he is in tiny form on Jordan Pittington's hockey mask.
Yeah.
If only the little John Hamm on Bennington's helmet could have helped him in his game against the...
Hey, hey, protect the five hole.
He's coming in fast.
Hey, Jordan.
Jordan.
Stop going behind the net when there's like three odd dudes on the four check, Jordan.
No, he just, he gets blamed for a lot of the team's weaknesses.
Sure.
No, that's not fair.
I mean, he can really show up.
But I think he's one of those players, understandably, that when things start going badly, he gets worse and worse.
We need a little bit more mental fortitude from these St. Louis Blue Notes.
So one of the notable masks this year that I sent to you is from a Flyers player.
And the Flyers have like a rich history with decorating goalie masks that goes back decades.
And I'll talk more about that.
But Joseph Wall has a golea mask this year that features a Lord of the Rings theme.
Okay, yeah.
In combination with like a Philadelphia theme.
Yeah.
I don't know if you've seen both aspects of that helmet.
I'm trying to load up a full picture of it because this wants me to log into X the everything website, which I have not done in many ways.
Oh, is that how they brand it?
No, yeah, I mean, yeah.
Here we go, let's take a look.
Oh, yeah.
They've got a fiery Balrog, which again, I'm not a Lord of the Rings officinado.
Right.
And then on the other side, I believe they have Ben Franklin.
I'm not seeing Ben Franklin.
I am seeing the Balrog.
He's hard to miss.
I'm trying to find a good picture of the port side of this helmet.
It's very common for hockey goalies to put some kind of local land.
mark or history on their mask to just kind of celebrate the city they're in.
Yeah. So I loved that in combination with the Lord of the Rings theme.
Yeah. So we got the Balrog on one side. Definitely I can see that. And then across the top,
we have some elvish script, which I assume maybe says you shall not pass. Yes, exactly. That thou
shall not pass. It's you shall not pass. I do like the biblical spin that you put on things. I
I guess my one, it's a kick-ass helmet.
That's so cool.
Fire everywhere, like so rad.
I still am not seeing Benjamin Franklin.
I feel like this is a.
I may have combined two masks.
I may have combined two masks.
You may have combined two masks.
Because he definitely had a Ben Franklin one.
And maybe just in my head, it felt nice to have them both on one mask.
No, I'm just seeing mountains.
I'm just seeing the Misty Mountains here, I think.
I'm not seeing Ben Franklin.
I guess my issue here, I get the idea behind it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You're a goal that you don't want the puck to pass.
You shall not pass.
That's great.
The Balrog's not the one that says that.
No.
The Balrog is the one trying to pass.
It's Gandalf the Grey who's kind of delivering that ultimatum.
This is why I brought this to you.
So I feel like having one with Gandalf and he's got his sword, he's got his staff and he's all sweaty.
God, he got so sweaty doing that scene.
Wow.
So sweaty.
I get it.
It's probably hot in there.
And Balrog's a big fiery guy.
Uh-huh.
So sweaty, the dude.
and having him on the helmet on the front of it,
that would intimidate me.
I'm coming in for like a penalty shot or something.
And I see Gandalf the Gray telling me that I'm not going to be able to compete.
Still a cool bow-rog.
I just wanted to say the ballrog is the one trying to pass.
Okay.
So I hate it.
That aside.
The artist who did that design, it's Dave Art.
Instagram. His name is David Gunnerson. He's been painting masks for 30 years. He's from Sweden,
and he began painting masks for local goalies at 16 years old. Wow, I love that. He has also,
he's done a bunch of masks, and you can see them on his Instagram. I'm looking at them right now.
One of the ones he did for the Los Angeles Kings was a Will Ferrell-themed mask that included
Farrell's famous Ron Burgundy character.
which is, again, not related to hockey.
But the suggestion is you see Will Ferrell at a lot of Kings games.
Again, this is kind of the John Ham theory of like, let's put one of our favorite celebrities up on there.
I got to close this page.
I'm sucked in.
He's got one that looks like genie, but it's like actually a really buff minotaur holding up a baby minotaur.
I saw that one.
And I'm like, what is it?
But then I went too deep in the pain.
And I'm trying to focus.
I don't believe that was a team in the NHL.
No, I don't believe.
I don't believe it was.
I do also just want to say that the top like eight comments on the Instagram video of the Balrog helmet is people saying,
actually is Gandalf that said the line.
Which is sobering, my love.
I mean, there's a reason you looked at the comments, right?
Like, you knew.
I knew what I would.
I knew that the comments in this case would be a deep, dark, truthful mirror.
I also wanted to talk about a mask this year for the Washington Capitals, the goalie Logan Thompson.
I guess traditionally does movie-themed masks.
Cool.
This year, he's got a tribute to the 1996 film Mars Attacks.
Holy shit, dude.
And the 2005 movie Wedding Crashers.
Okay, so is this a special request that he's like?
Like, these are my two fucking favorite flicks.
Apparently, these movies, and I haven't seen either of them in a long time, are connected to D.C.
In some way.
Okay, yeah.
Mars attacks, you would, yeah, that would make sense.
Wedding Crashers, I don't remember being?
Yeah, Wedding Crashers is in D.C.
Remember because they have the scene where they're sitting on, like, the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
And, yeah, and it's all about politicians.
Okay.
Yeah.
That sounds right to me.
So, yeah.
So anyway, if you, and we'll have to keep an eye out for.
for this mass.
I mean, I just want to know what the Mars attacks represents.
Oh, it's just the alien with the big brainhead.
Yeah.
It's the alien with the big brain head.
That's fucking cool.
I thought it was going to be like Pierce Brosden with his head on a little dog's body.
That's the only thing I remember from that flick, because you know what?
It scared the shit out of me.
I don't think I've seen it.
I don't remember much about it.
I just remember at one point they cut off Pierce Brosden's head and put it on a dog's body.
And I remember seeing that and being like, that's fucked up.
Yeah.
That's fucked up.
And then it became dog man.
as the origins of the graphic novel series for kids.
Just quickly to talk about kind of masks,
they didn't hit the NHL period until 1959.
Okay.
Jacques Plant wore a go-tender mask for the first time in a regular season game.
He had first one.
first worn one in practice in 1956 because he had a sinusitis operation and missed 13 games
and then he kind of put a mask together to wear it during practice, but the coach wouldn't let him
wear it during regulation play.
Oh, that's not very nice.
There was this idea that it would impair your vision in some way and make you a less effective goalie.
It's a big mask.
I get it.
And let me just say, as someone who's had multiple sinus surgeries, 13 games, that's crazy.
Yeah.
You should be able to get back out there on the ice.
I mean, this is the late 50s, honey.
I don't imagine the surgery was quite as precise back then.
Maybe that's true.
Maybe that's true.
They were using like a literal knife and spoon and fork.
They'd get in there with their fingers to wiggle the septum.
So November 1959, his nose was broken by a puck during the game three minutes in.
Yeah.
And so he returned wearing his homemade mask and said, I'm not going to be back out there with a broken nose unless I get to wear a mask.
Sure.
And they let him do it and they won the game.
Because of the mask.
Well, you know how superstitious sports people are.
And he went on to, they went on to be unbeaten for 18 games.
Okay.
So then they were like, all right, you can wear the mask.
There was one game where he didn't wear it later at the request of the coach and they lost.
What's the with this fucking coach, man?
I don't know.
It really didn't happen until the mid to late 60s.
Apparently there was a maskless goalie on the Pittsburgh Penguins, Andy Brown, who was still not wearing a maskless goalie.
who was still not wearing a mask in 1973, just by choice.
Just I guess because of like the same reason that some people don't wear the visor.
Yeah.
Like I'm used to playing with that.
It just seems crazy.
I can't feel, unless I'm going in raw, I can't even feel the pucks hitting me in the forehead.
Yeah.
And sending me to the hospital.
The first kind of like artistically painted mask.
Yeah, that's what I'm curious about.
It started with the flyers.
That's what I was saying, the long history.
There was a goalie in 1970, Doug Faville, who was the first to add color when he had his mask painted bright orange ahead of a Halloween game in 1970.
Kick ass.
That's cool.
I bet the league was like more chill about that kind of stuff back then instead of like, did you hear the story about the guy who got in trouble because his jersey was tucked in?
Yes, and then the whole team came out.
The whole team came out for practice and tucked their jerseys in.
I saw a story that they had been suspended, but that was not true.
But the thing about him getting in trouble for tucking his jersey was true.
And it's like, that's crazy.
Why?
Why can he not tuck his jersey in?
Are you maybe hiding extra pucks in there?
Yeah.
Like, uh-oh.
Yeah.
That's his secret move.
Multi-ball.
Domain expansion.
There's 70 pucks on the ice.
Which one's the real one?
Only he knows.
He's like in the crease in like a real pile-up.
and he just like slips one in the goal.
Like, whoa, I went in.
That's cool.
Yeah.
So is the thought just like there's more real estate on a goalie mask and that's why
they get to paint theirs up and no one else does?
Because I don't see other hockey players with like cool shit on their masks.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know if helmets have the numbers on them.
I'm trying to think like is there a logistical reason?
But I'm guessing it's just the it's the real estate and now the tradition.
Yeah. And if you let one, you know, forward do it, then all the forwards are going to want to do it. They'd be pretty busy out there. Yeah. It would be tough to, it would be tough to watch a game where everybody has like their favorite movie guys. But I think it's extra fun too just because goalies are kind of mysterious. You know, they're kind of like the bass player in a band where they're like complicated and you don't really know much about them and they're very stoic. And you can project some of your favorite personality traits onto them. Like in my head, Mark Andre,
Flurry is like a, like a really funny guy.
It's like a good hang.
I don't know anything about him except that he poke-checked Connor Bedard on his first
shootout attempt in a way that I found just hysterical.
I will just say these like little personalized designs like seeing like a little Will Ferrell
on a goalie mask.
It's just like a fun little clue into who they are.
Yeah.
It looks like Logan Thompson's past masks included a DC,
shot films in 2024,
2025 it was National Treasure
and then last season it was Night at the Museum too.
So it sounds like maybe if we've moved on to Mars
attacks and wedding crashes, maybe we're getting into the
Snickle Fritz a little bit.
He's running out.
He's running out of DC films.
Well, then he could always go to DC television.
He could have a scandal.
A picture up there.
The wire is kind of adjacent.
That's Baltimore.
Yeah, but Baltimore doesn't have a hockey team.
That's true. I guess you could adopt, I guess you could adopt something in the broader
DMV sort of extended region. A House of Cards helmet would be a tough hang.
I don't know that that one would go down. I don't think that one's going to be here.
Unless you got Robin Wright pin on the front saying like, you shall not pass.
Hey, can I steal you away? Yes.
I mean, my thing's Halloween themed, but now that you said that.
you think that shit's played, I'm like, do I even want to do it?
No, go ahead.
I love Halloween.
Skeletons.
I mean, that's not technically Halloween themed.
Skeletons?
Skeletons exist year-round.
Skeletons exist year-round, right?
They are inside all of us.
But they are featured in the Halloween season.
You can understand they're heavily.
I want to talk about them primarily as an iconic Halloween decoration.
I like that one because it is the less.
scary option, I feel like.
Oh, it's, yeah, it's skeleton has a lot going for it.
I feel like back in the day it was, you could argue that the sort of icon is the jackalanorn.
But I think in 2026, like, we have proven ourselves ready to handle something a little bit more intense, something that forces us to confront like mortality in a more direct and sort of audacious manner.
And as far as I know, Lowe doesn't sell 12 foot tall jackalantons.
They sell skeletons because those are the modern Halloween icon.
We have acquired a few, I would say, modestly sized skeletons, not 12-foot-tall behemoths,
although if I knew where you put them, it's so funny.
We have a house in our neighborhood where they have the 12-foot skeleton up for the month of
October, and then for the other 11 months, they have it kind of tucked down in a stairwell
going down into their basement on the side of their house
so that if you walk by their house at the correct angle
and you look, you just see.
And that's even scarier, honestly, I think,
for it to be mid-May and then you see a skeleton
poking out of someone's stairwell
leading down to their basement.
Yeah, I have to assume just because they are sold at lows,
you can like split them in half, right?
You've got to be able to de-destruct them.
There's no way the box is 12 feet tall, right?
But even the bones must be pretty big.
You just stand-alone bone.
Yeah.
Do you have to snap them together, I wonder?
I don't know.
We have some skeletons that we use for decor.
We acquired some more, I think, this year.
And I just, I love them for their decorating potential, largely because they're poseable.
They're poseable.
And that gives you so many options.
Yes.
You could have them sitting at a table in like a mock skeleton poker game table.
Or have them, like, climbing out of the ground or basement staircase.
where you could put a little hat on them.
Yeah.
They're like people because they're made of the stuff that's inside of all people.
They are like people.
Skeletons are a lot like dry people, dry old, old, old people.
And the opening of the mouth brings such personality.
Yes.
Like that is why I got two more this year, but they're little.
They're like two or three feet tall.
But they are equally poseable.
And it's just so satisfying to like bring like a whole like backstory to this little guy just by like moving his leg a certain way.
Yeah.
I think another reason why skeletons are the iconic, why they have so much iconic power is we haven't really oversaturated the market with depictions of skeletons throughout horror media film and television.
Zombies are like so played out. Vampires have been done to death, pun intended.
And ghosts are weird because like what I, the free floating white sheet with the eyes cut out,
we got to stop with that shit because that's simply not what ghosts would look like if they existed.
There's no iconic Halloween power, I think, to that sort of traditional ghost.
But show me a TV show where skeletons are, you know, running a muck, hunting the living.
Yeah.
No, I'm interested to think about that.
I mean, some of it is that like a skeleton is like inherently vulnerable.
Yeah.
Right?
Like you see the bones, you just break one of them, and then they don't have that appendage anymore.
That's it.
Yeah, I hit them in the rib cage and then there's no more skeleton because that's sort of a really
integral load-bearing part of their bony body.
Yeah, maybe that's part of it.
Yeah.
And it's also probably hard to make a skeleton go really fast in a way that's also creepy.
Well, so the only one I could think of was Army of Darkness, the third Evil Dead movie,
where skeletons are kind of the monster of the week, and there's a lot of them.
There's a lot of them.
He fights them, and they do kind of shatter in all kinds of, like, really satisfying ways.
They move, I think, in almost stop motion style.
Yeah, that's what I remember.
I want to watch that movie.
That movie's a fun rom.
And then, like, Coco.
But that's, like, not, they're not hunting anyone in that one.
They're just making sure that, like, the Ophrenda is really up to date and well-nated.
and stuff.
And at the same time,
there's something relatable about skeletons,
I think,
that tempers them,
tempers their terror factor,
making them a,
like,
seasonally appropriate piece of decor
that won't traumatize
the neighborhood youths.
Because if you see a zombie
climbing up out of the ground,
that image is too gory.
Like,
their rotting flesh is just,
that's like intense.
A skeleton, though,
that's just bones.
There's no blood on a skeleton.
No blood on a skeleton.
It's just bones.
And we know bones.
don't get up and move around on their own.
So a skeleton can be silly, especially if you put a little hat on them.
They're spooky and fun, which is the, like, real Halloween power.
Yeah.
There is something porch goose about it and that you start thinking, like, I keep this out here all
year.
I would love to be the skeleton house in the neighborhood.
And just maybe I put a different hat or, you know, give him a different accessory.
Maybe he's holding a four-leaf clover and then at St. Patrick's Day, you know.
You can't trust him up in a San Francisco.
Santa Claus suit because that now that's gone back around the corner to being scary and be like,
I guess Santa's not going to bring presents this year because he's dead. He's dead in this person's
house outside of their emblematic power. Skeletons, biologically speaking, are also pretty cool.
We got 206 bones inside of our body. And it's just like, that's what all my body meat hangs on
and helps to move. And like every other human has like a very similar pattern of 206 bones.
kind of like helping them get going.
All of my internal meat scaffolding
is getting the job done in the same way
that it is for every like vertebrate creature on earth.
That's fucking cool.
Yeah.
It's just meat scaffolding.
When they break, you like use like metal plates and screws
to reattach them together.
Yeah.
And then you just walk around with that.
Yeah.
I have new bones with metal sort of implants.
That's cool.
And that's just talking about endoskeletons, man.
We got exoskeletons like that bugs have,
like an ants chitin.
And then there's hydrostatic skeletons, which aren't really bony skeletons.
They're just like passageways that fluid passes through that holds jellyfishes and stuff together.
Oh, okay.
I didn't know what that was.
And then there's like cytoskeletons at the cellular level that, again, aren't really skeletons,
but help cells keep their shape.
That's pretty cool.
It just brings me great joy to walk around our neighborhood in October and see all the different decorative
skeletons posed in all manner of situations, all manner of size.
eyes is they ring in the season for me just as much as the changing leaves and decorative
gores.
And also kind of like just the general decorative nature of a neighborhood.
Like there is a big chunk of the year where you don't see a lot of people doing stuff
to their houses.
Yeah.
This kind of begins the season of that.
And obviously like DiDi Los Mertos like goes so fucking hard in this department.
And like I adore that aesthetic to the moon and back.
Cannot wait for that Coco level in Kingdom Hearts 4.
Are you kidding me?
Yeah.
That seemed cool.
And I watched the trailer.
You did watch the trailer for Kingdom Hearts for.
Yeah.
How did that treat you?
I mean, I still have trouble kind of understanding how they have like goofy doing this like dark weird stuff.
Yeah, man.
But he's still goofy.
Yeah.
He's not like a noir goofy.
He's just regular goofy.
He's regular goofy.
But he's in some real perilous situations.
He can beat ass too.
And Kingdom Hearts, I think three, he dies for like a minute and then gets brought back to life.
I think that's true.
Wow.
Maybe that was two, actually.
There's like a bit where you're like, oh, no, Goofy's fucking dead.
But then it turns out it was a fake out.
And Disney's like cool with this.
Disney loves this.
Wild.
Yeah.
They love when you do shit to Goofy.
Do you know what our friends at home are talking about?
Yes.
Vilhelm from Sweden says,
My Small Wonder is when you're walking outside and manage to kick a small rock or
chestnut in a way where it really goes flying. I'm no sports guy, but doing a good kick of a small
object makes me feel like maybe I could be. Yes. Yeah, it is, I don't know, this may just be human
nature or it may just be a thing for me, but once you accidentally kick something once,
then it's like, well, maybe I'll keep this streak going. And then it's like you're kind of chasing
that acorn. Like, I'm going to kick it again. Yeah, the expression of kicking a can, I always thought was so
silly until the first time I actually kicked a can. And I was like, that felt pretty good. I'd like to
keep, I'd like to see how far I could get this can going if I could get it all the way home.
When did you kick a can?
You know, just walking around.
There's litter on the ground.
I used to walk a lot more.
I don't walk so much these days.
And people are cleaner now, I think, than they were generally speaking in the 90s.
Yeah, I was going to see a lot of cans out in the road.
And it is the 90s.
So there would be like a can of Josta on my way home from elementary school.
And I would just, you know, kick it on the way home.
Because we didn't have electronics.
You had to share your rollerblades.
We had to share our rollerblades.
Julia says,
My Small Wonder is when a sealed tube has a cap that has a pokey part that will break the seal.
It makes it so I don't have to struggle finding the little tab and always has a satisfying pop when breaking the seal.
You know what they're talking about.
I know.
I'm trying to think of an example.
I have had a lot of these for my different dermatological sort of topical ointments.
Those usually do have the little metal seal over the top of the tube.
and then you flip the cap upside down and it's got the pokey bit and you push it down.
Almost like a bottle of Romanae.
Yeah, but those are so hard to open.
Romanae is very hard to open.
Romanae, you got to get it together, man.
Our kids always want Romine when we go to the Japanese import store.
It seems like a beverage for children.
Why is it so hard to open?
But it's impossible to open.
And nine times out of ten when you do open it, you're going to have a fizz disaster.
And then you can't get the marble out either.
And you can't, how dare you put a toy inside of your beverage that is inaccessible?
Unless you turn it dangerous by shattering it on that.
like, oh, it's hard to open and then, yeah, you can't get the marble.
Can't get that toy.
Like, what is even, what are you trying to do?
What are we doing?
Also, a lot of the flavors aren't very good.
Yeah, I've never liked it.
I like the melon one quite a bit, and there's a couple others that I've enjoyed.
It feels like drinking like snow cone syrup.
Oh, interesting.
Like, it's so sweet.
Yeah, it is pretty sweet.
Some people like that.
